    well then

i'm really happy with how this one turned out

i like to imagine ragnar as a character to tries to live up to the expectations of all those who know of him, but is never satisfied with his actions and always believes he could have gone a little further, or just done just a little more
this is his theme of trying to defeat you at the portal to dern, as he believes that, as the current hero of wynn, it's his duty to defeat what lies beyond as it's the responsibility of him as a hero, rather than have the player waste their lives in a fruitless mission.

    any feedback is greatly appreciated

This is super super super cool.

IMO better than the last one which was for the light realm boss, because chords are more interesting, and you got a nice melody.

But, as always, here is my feedback:
The melody was really cool in the beginning. Fairly simple, not over complicated, bold melody. But then it starts getting faster. And then more complicated. By then, it feels like you are improvising using the wynn-harp. Here are my tips on how you can improve the melody:
    • Leave some breaks between phrases. Not everything has to be a continuous spam of notes.
    • Repetition. Although this is less true for improvisation, it is definitely true for video game music. In order to let that catchy melody you just created sink in, you are going to need to repeat it at least twice, even leaving the same rhythm over different notes works. Try taking @Corpe _ 's boss battle, a day to remember, and listen to the first few measures of the melody. Notice how he repeats the same rhythm, and its not too complicated.
    • last thing - please make the melody wynn-harp a little bit louder
Also, i am finding a lack of a build up (bridge) to dramatic ending. There seem to be a lot of places where you try to create some build up, but the melody and percussion just kind of continue. It would be cool if the piece started out quieter and then got louder and more dramatic towards the end.

In the end, my only major issue with this piece is that the melody seems to be random spamming of notes, with no relation/repetition to what was played before it, making it very hard to remember how the melody goes, because it is constantly changing.

Overall great job, I loved it!

hhhh avoiding too much repetition while trying to keep stuff memorable is hard--especially cause i was trying to avoid too much repetition like in orphion theme
here's kind of what i had in mind when i was making it:

0:00 - 0:18 | obviously the intro; if the boss fight were a real thing, this wouldn't be what plays when the fight actually starts--rather, it would lead into the beginning of the fight
    0:19 - 0:37 | standard melody after introduction
0:38 - 0:56 | repetitive arpeggio kinda thing, leads into next part of song
0:56 - 1:16 | second melody, faster paced and more tense compared to the earlier one to express the difficulty ramping up as the fight goes on. this is especially clear with the latter part of this melody, with the large run of notes.
1:16 - 1:25 | second repetitive part, but shorter. i didn't want this part to be super memorable, if that's the way to describe it, but i did want to lead into the third part of the song. the end of this part is probably the closest you'd get to a break for the whole song.
1:25 - 1:44 | third melody, tone is slightly darker compared to the other 2 melodies before it which symbolizes the type of character i imagine ragnar to be.
1:44 - 2:03 | transition into final melody. the first part of this transition's beginning is actually nearly the same as the first part of the first melody's beginning, which was an attempt to make it a bit more memorable, but i guess that didn't go over so well. i tried using higher notes to give it more emotion. this was the part meant to be the build up into the ending.
2:03 - 2:22 | final melody. kind of like a last stand kind of moment. used high notes in this one for the same reason as the transition into this part
2:22 - end | finale; repetitive arpeggio part comes back but with a bit of pazazz. snare drum matches rhythm of the repeating high notes to try and lead into the last notes.

basically i tried doing complicated stuff to relate each part to an earlier part but with all the stuff going on at once i think it kinda got hidden, at least going by your feedback

still, thanks for the feedback. i'll keep it in mind for the next one

also the last one was an alternate sky islands theme, not the orphion theme

he's a character that's basically seen as the current hero of wynn after bob

here's a couple of dialogues relating to him:

    oh ok

I feel like Ragnar will someday be in a questline of some sort. Maybe he battles Siegfried?

In a WYnncraft trailer of some sort, we can see Ragnar fighting Bak'al, but thing is, this was pre-1.17 before Bak'al was ever announced, and the trailer also showed several thing that NEVER made it into the game, such as a bossfight against a worm that utilizes a custom model instead of armorstands.
Also Corpe_ made a fanmade soundtrack of Siegfried
