Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

“Well, if there are any then tell Aj I’m sorry.” I say, taking a small white crystal out of my pocket before a pulse of light rolls through my body.

“As for voidwalking, it’s the thing Rineth does. You know, since he’s a voidwalker. Kinda says it on the tin.”

 

"So he carries other people around on his back for transport?" Katie asks, confused.

"The only unique thing Rineth does is spy on you when you're bathing because he's a pervert, and then try to eat you when you tell everyone he's a pervert so he can keep his record clean." Abigail says, crossing her arms.

 

“Unless you can freely manipulate the empty pseudospace between null and the edges of reality to make portals that aren’t really portals, it’s unique to voidwalkers.”

 

"Oh! Like when Aj cuts those holes in reality and floats through to get places faster!" Katie says happily.

"Too powerful for his own good." Abigail says quietly, shaking her head.

 

“Yes, except voidwalking doesn’t involve cutting reality. It simply uses the fact that there’s already a void-like place connecting different parts of reality to get around rather than hoping you don’t fuck up like a dumbass and open a rift.”

 

"But how do you get to the void-like place without a rift or portal?" Katie asks, curious.

 

“Portal yes, but nothing needs to be cut. You’d need to ask Rineth how it works, woe is you,” I say with a quick glance at Abigail, “but I do know that it’s just a matter of opening a very short range portal to the void to get in. Knowing where you’ll get out is... well, that’s definitely a voidwalker thing.”

 

"Aj seemed to know how to get out too, though he never told any of us how." Katie says.

"Those rifts were terrifying. I'm glad he's stopped doing it though." Abigail says, shivering a little.

 

“You know that this still continues the trend of me wanting anyone other than Aj to do something.”

 

"Well I haven't got any armour and I'm still bruised." Abigail says.

"I...don't think Xlentia likes me very much anymore either." Katie says.

"It's not that we're not going to do something, it's just that we can't right now." Abigail explains.

 

“I didn’t mean go back, I’m well aware your group is either training, pretending to train, or injured.”
Pause.
“Or temporarily condemned for accidental infanticide.”

 

Katie looks down, guilty.

"Well as soon as I'm healed and I've dealt with some...personal issues, I'll get some armour and help." Abigail says confidently.

 

“Chin up, you didn’t mean to. And now that Xlentia isn’t missing a fifth of her body, she can actually listen to people. It’ll be fine.”
Pause.
“And if you mean Chroma, don’t even think about it. Let him be, as creepy as he is.”

 

"She isn't? How did she get healed?" Katie asks.

"Chroma? Who's- oh right, him. No, not that jerk." Abigail says, waving her hand dismissively.

 

“Mortius may have inadvertently held her soul hostage. Emerald came back and convinced him that returning her soul came before any further cooperation.”
Pause.
“Oh yeah, Emerald’s back. She’s a noodle now.”

 

"A noodle?" Katie asks, confused.

"Who turned Emerald into a noodle?" Abigail asks, also confused.

 

I sigh.
“Wow, your Earth sucks. Noodles are a joke name for the longer rope-ish dragons.”

 

"Oh, like uh...Wyrms?" Abigail says, thinking, before checking on her phone.

 

“Yes, assuming the name ‘wyrm’ isn’t also used to refer to other dragon-related species. I didn’t know if your reality called them wyrms, so I was hoping the slang term would work. Clearly no it didn’t.”

 

Abigail gets up, heading out into the kitchen before returning a moment later - some clattering heard from the kitchen.

Abigail holds up a packet of instant noodles, "These are what we call noodles." She declares.

"Ooh, can I have some?" Katie asks excitedly, "With the tiny sausage slices you put in, too?"

"Yeah, sure. You want some too?" Abigail asks, turning to the human.
