I soloed the eye a few times and yes, I can confirm the eye is hard as an archer. Especially the third phase when invisible armor stands messes up your spell casting to arrow bombs instead of storm. If it weren’t for those armor stands, I’d be breaking my mouse less often.

Not everyone has a good Endgame Build or played on the server for years. Most players will actually have trouble fighting the Eye, and making such an important feature way too hard for your average player kinda seems unfair doesn't it?

Certainly not true. AJB's escort doesn't have dps tests that wipe 90% of your HP in an unblockable manner.

 

No. A Journey Beyond is hard, yes. But EO is a lot harder than that.

The thing about the wretches is that they can't actually kill you, so any reaction time at all with a potion is more than sufficient to counter them as long as you're in one of the back corners of the room
At that point, the eye's normal spells can't hit you (besides wave, which is really easy to dodge unless you're using statue), and the special attacks (eg, purple circle, laser) are extremely telegraphed
The only really danger are the smaller eyes, but if you're playing solo, there is only going to be 2 at any given time during the wretch phase

A journey beyond isn't even hard (though the obsessors are much harder than any other part of the quest), and the eye is no different as long as you're playing solo

That seems more of a problem with the player, given that it's not unreasonable to expect a player at level 100 who isn't rushing through the game to have a passable build, which can solo eye with negative difficulty through the use of potions and stats pots (as much as the thought disgusts me)
A perfectly optimized build isn't even necessary; all of my buulds strictly use untradable items and maybe one or two traceable items (cheap endgame legendaries / atlas)
It's entirely possible that someone could run through EO using items that take no effort to get outside of completing the other (much easier) dungeons

Iirc, making it way too hard for the average player was the intention, as it was designed to have a soft requirement of multiple people
However, in its current state, fighting it solo is very easy and fighting it in the intended manner is significantly more difficult
Making the argument that a boss that is designed to be way too hard for the average player is way too hard for the average player is odd, at the least
My main gripe is that it's actually harder with multiple people, despite being designed to be impossible with one player and very easy with multiple people; with how it's currently designed, as long as you actively prioritize avoiding damage over dealing it (which makes sense, since the eye has negligible healing potential)

I haven't been able to figure out what they are, but they're there throughout the third phase and approximately down the entire center lane of the arena. It makes most spells fail to cast and makes F5 mode unusable.

 

Playing without potions is intentionally handicapping yourself, which is great for a challenge, but not an accurate metric for the difficulty of a boss
The average player is expected to use potions, after all
But as of now, it's incredibly easy to solo the eye without them

 

Again. You are overlooking the most obvious things.
Not everyone has perfect internet connect. Small lags can easily get you killed when you are cut down by 90% of your hp.
Saying that every player who isn't rushing through the game can solo the eye is also wrong. Because "rushing through the game" really is not an objective term.
Even someone who takes their time can still be unable to solo Li or the Eye, given that not everyone has the same good PC, Internet, and not everyone has the skill it takes to compensate for that either.

If you want a harder challenge, handicap yourself. But the Eye is hard enough for most of the players. It is about the majority, and not about some random guys like you who say "Well duh it's wayyyy too easy".
I also find it not as hard. But that is because I am (kind of) a veteran and own a decent build. But unlike others I am able to think like someone who hasn't played the game for over a year or about other small things.

 

YY, you’ve done LI 253 times already (excluding the Hero Beta ones); just do the spider build already! I know it’s meme, but given that you’ve done a NO HIT run I actually think it might be possible.
