Media Fun Fact Friday: Coastal Trail Floating Island

Hello hello I am back!! Last week's thread can be found here.

There are very few places of interests in Wynn that have gone unchanged for the past 7 years, such as the runes carved on the Sand Swept Tomb (previously known as the Silverfish Dungeon), the Lonely Spider, and Bob's Castle.

And perhaps, the most well-known undiscussed place of interest in Wynncraft is the Coastal Trail floating island.



If memory serves me well, this floating island and its accompanying waterfall has remained exactly the same for the past seven years. The small island passed by tens of thousands of journeying players has survived gigantic updates and expansive map revamps, and has still kept its same old self, from the very beginning of Wynncraft. Amazing, I know!

I'm certain one of the original builders for Project W built this seemingly random floating island in the middle of the Wynn shoreline as a joke, and compared to almost everything else on the map in 2012, this insignificant creation has proceeded to withstand the test of time.



Every once in a blue moon, I like to talk about the extensive fantastical landscape of Wynn. The monumental project birthed from an amalgamation of wild ideas and intricate theories stretching far and wide, crossing cultures and transcending species, binding scientific technology and magic, unifying eras and timelines, contrasting ideologies and societal constructs, all comes together in a unique world where the imagination truly runs wild yet orderly, a harmony in fantasy.

Wynn has plenty of incredible creations, and yet this tiny out-of-place floating island located in a seemingly normal coastline has always struck me at its laughable absurdity. I might be presenting my thoughts based on nostalgic factors, but I still believe this to be an interesting snippet of Wynn to be shared with the world. These whimsical and ambitiously out-of-the-ordinary creations are the little details that make Wynncraft truly great.

I would like to see some lore about this very tiny floating island. I mean did like a wizard shoot a magic missil into the air and when it hit land it just started to float? Is gravity just not working in that very small space? who did it? why is it there?

 

I think the mystery is what makes it so unique. Explaining everything about it would ruin it.

 

Not even just a tiny hint? a little sneak peak?

 

this is one of my earliest memories on Wynn. the island used to have a tier 2 chest on it, and so 2015 me would routinely travel here to open the chest.

My god, me and my friend did exactly the same every saturday and sunday when we would play together years ago, nostalgia just hit me so hard.
