Content with the meal, Fraise took up The Ikar: Volume 2 and flipped once more to a random tale. He had to admit that these fables and tales were quite mystical and interesting. The man was never content with sitting still for any moment of time, whether reading or even speaking to those around him, but these books were somehow different? It was almost as if Fraise wanted to read more, to delve deeper into these stories. A little unprecedented, but perhaps refreshing?

After spending some time searching, Fraise decided to settle on a tale that had a unique picture he had never seen before compared to the kingdoms and wars he saw before. This picture was simply a ring and necklace, laid side by side. Having a special knack for jewelry, Fraise was intrigued by his discovery and began reading. He didn't feel like bothering Deton and Saraha, so this was good enough to him.

"Walking out was the fastest way of figuring what was out here."
"You gonna tell me why you dragged me out here now?"

The headless warrior continues to approach Darx, walking menacingly as it held its sword in front of itself. The silver-haired boy got up and put his bag back on its place, not losing track of the moving armour set. As the teen slowly backed off, he could hear the driver scream at him. "Come here, now!"

Right as Darx began making his way towards the carriage, the headless warrior released a guttural noise and raised his sword above his head, to the boy's despair.

Ignoring the sleeping man by his side, Fraise flipped through the pages of his borrowed book. Laying his eyes with a smile on the image of beautiful jewellery, the Aatsuran began his immersion in the world of literature.

'Tale 53: Repentance, Tale of Ikar, Hyara's Tale.

After the death of the High General of Ithur, the King of Larel inquired that the Crowned Jewels, powerful magical objects used by the heads of Kingdom of Ithur, were transported to Larel in a show of good faith and loyalty. Even to the nobles under the King, it was well known such request was nigh-outrageous, given the jewels were used by the High General during battles to assist in feats of great magic. Nevertheless, the weakened kingdom was left with no choice.

In order to retrieve the Crowned Jewels, a caravan of soldiers and mages was sent to escort the leader in charge of acquiring the Jewels, in contrast with Offit's lone journey. Artis, the leader of the caravan, was an experienced archer and trustworthy noble. Alongside the people chosen to accompany him in his journey, the archer picked me.

Throughout the journey, the caravan encountered few bandits and deserters, although even fewer managed to come close without getting shot by Artis. Ever since the arrival of the Kingdom's Herald, as Offit was now known, the Golden Road became dozens of times more secure. In an uneventful journey, we finally arrived at Ithur.

The Kingdom had fallen into great decay following the death of the High General, with famine plaguing the streets and poverty through the formerly wealthy and powerful noble neighbourhoods. Reaching the rundown palace, Artis retrieved the Crowned Jewels after a day of negotiation. In exchange for the necklace and rings, a part of our caravan stayed in Ithur to aid in the protection and rebuilding of the Kingdom until Larel's help truly arrived. After another day of negotiations with the members of the Caravan, Artis and the rest of our caravan left towards our nation.

Three days after our exit of Ithur, we were attacked by a large group. They outnumbered our caravan members in three to one, attacking us in the middle of the night. Artis managed to shoot down fifteen of them, but nevertheless, the bandits raided our caravan and killed most of our soldiers, also stealing the Crowned Jewels. Our best guess was that they were warned about them, and carefully planned the attack. With only one carriage left, the leader decided to continue the journey, and so we did. After another four days, we arrived at Larel.

The King was horrified to learn of the abominable failure that was the mission to retrieve the Jewels and ordered all of the present to be put in jail. Artis, however, suggested another solution. In exchange for his life, the king would spare the remaining members of the caravan, for he was the leader and the fault was his alone. With a nod, the King watched as the archer put a knife through his heart, repenting for his mistakes as a captain and soldier.

A month later, news were received that the bandits had been found dead, and the Jewels had been lost. After another month, the King became aware that Ithur had fallen and was broken beyond repair, leaving Larel as the last standing bastion in the war that waged on.'

Fraise put down the book and looked around, scanning his surroundings. Saraha had her arms rest on her legs, and slept with her eyes wide open, while Deton maintained a peaceful and quiet slumber. After a moment of thought, the Aatsuran understood where the aversion to failure of the Iktarian had come from.

The figure shrugged. "I'm sure you could have asked someone." In a gesture of utter indifference, the man began to walk away from Wren, who was nearly passing out.
"And even if I told you, so far you didn't seem inclined to listen. I think I'll leave you here for the wolves, y'know?"

True to his word, a faint howl could be heard, even by Wren.

"Cya then. Make sure you send my spear back."
Okay, its a fact that the mist is affecting me, not me overusing my ability. In that case, lets use my ability to clear the mist infront of my face. Try to head back towards the house with the old lady, using my spear to help me move if need be.

Fraise digested the story alongside the others he had read throughout his time with the books. All these ideas behind the tales, the characters themselves, and even the objects of significance filled his mind. Why Offit was mentioned just within this tale, if the Crowned Jewels are still out there in the world, or if any of these stories rang even the smallest sense of truth were all questions inside of Fraise. It filled him with a sense of curious wonder, as if there were more mysterious to the world than he originally imagined. The feeling was...weird, yet invigorating.

However, Fraise presumed he should take a small rest alongside his companions. He can't possibly consider spending all of his time with a book. What was he, an absolutely charming and elegant Aatusran dancer, or...a bookworm?! The thought made the man shake his head with laughter and with that, he placed The Ikar: Volume 2 beside him and rested his head against the seat's cushion, slowly drifting off to sleep.

(woops just saw this and wanted to address: basically checkpoint exams on a specific "block / section" of material for the class. but unfortuantely for me, it's practically...one a month with the schedule I have. not completely fun, but at least I get them out of the way in one swing!)

Sorry for the more experimental tone to this, it's really not a good day for me mentally but I tried to write something anyway since I didn't want to leave you guys hanging. (The story would still follow this thread, this is just another way to write it)

Holding the spear limply with one hand to try and use it to get up, Wren attempted to concentrate and clear the Mist around him. With shaking legs, the boy weakly got up. Looking around brought dizziness, and the slightest concentration that Wren managed to gather gave the cloaked boy a searing headache.

With barely a step forward, Wren fell on the ground. Tiredly closing his eyes, the cloaked boy waited.

    And waited.

    And waited.

After what seemed like hours, Wren felt a wave of hot air on his neck, and passed out.

Running towards the carriage, Darx turned his back to the headless thing. One second later, that proved to be a mistake.

While the armoured creature brought the longsword down with tremendous strength, Darx glanced behind him to check on his situation. Taking in his situation, the silver-haired boy barely had enough time to raise the protection rune over his head to deflect the blade, which nevertheless opened a long and deep cut on the boy's calve. With a gut-wrenching scream, Darx fell to the ground, the invisibility rune thrown towards the woman, by luck.

Turning around to face the headless knight, the boy watched terrified as it prepared for another strike.

Falling in deep slumber alongside their comrades, the pair felt nothing but gentle movements as the carriage moved past the bumps on the road.

Minutes of silence passed by before the two found themselves in vast darkness, with only the floor under their feet to be seen.

Would you be interested in an oh so slightly prophetic dream?

Activate woosh to push the knight away, and another woosh to get Darx towards the carriage, near the woman. Then activate the invisibility

I'm sorry everyone for no reply today, but my computer just refuses to turn Google on, and I kind of rely on it to write a reply as big as I want this next one to be, so please, forgive me.
I'll try to see if I can find another one for me to type it in, as of now I only have my phone.

Working, but everything came together to massacre me ( School, admission exams, more exams, school trip, essays, a literal out of nowhere cold, the good stuff.) . I've tried writing out replies twice already, but computer shut off and I lost the two drafts ( With all the rewriting I normally do, that killed me for the rest of the day ). I'm working on updating the geography to more realistic levels and other worldbuilding stuff as well, so that's also a thing. I'll try to reply today, but if I can't it's either cuz it's my first day off since last Friday and I'm procrastinating slightly or because it's going to be a very long boy.
