"Fully." She nods. "That aside... a tech race does sound like a fun distraction from the war. Perhaps I could pass off the reward I had set aside for Shadow Stephanie onto you? She called the tech blasphemous, but you seem capable of keeping a level head."

 

"What was the gift you originally planned for her?" Praecantatia asks.

 

Idhaenna offers Praecantatia a set of 12 cores.
"Some contain mechs with analytics trackers removed, others contain blueprints. They're all outdated stuff on my end, but they should be worthwhile to you."
Pause.
"And no, I'm not giving you anything that'd directly help with interfering with Stella."

 

"Blueprints for what, exactly?" Praecantatia asks, suspicious.

 

"That's a fair point, but I suppose we catch up to her little by little."

 

"I should be fine."

 

"Mechs, mining tools, solar generators, and an FTL drive."

We also don't have to stop to sleep, since there's two of us.

"Go on, then. I'm not going to keep this open too l- wait, why do you have that thief with you?"

 

"I...don't really see what use I could make of those, but I'm sure I can find something." Praecantatia says.

 

"That too."

 

"He wants to see Aj's Gaia. I'll take care of him if he does anything stupid."

 

“Use, you probably won’t. Reverse engineer is what I’d figure you’d try. And, since I do technically owe you, I’ll hand over a nova rifle too.”

“Don’t let him touch anything, am I clear?”

Anyhow, as long as her scent keeps getting stronger, we should be getting closer.

...Wait, you can’t track her as well as I can. Maybe having us switch off to keep going is a bad idea.

 

"If you can give me a general direction, I can atleast follow her tracks if there are any."

 

“Remember when I said ‘don’t steal anything’?”
I ask Scurn.
“Change that to ‘don’t touch anything’. Clear?”

 

Praecantatia shrugs.

"I suppose I could use aspects of the tech to improve upon current designs." Praecantatia says positively.

 

What if she took a turn and you don’t know to turn?

“Not even the floor.” Stella adds.

“Yeah, fine.”

”The nova rifle will be of particular interest, then. It only has three shots, though; I don’t exactly just hand out dead stars like candy, even if I owe you.”

 

"What sort of power does the nova rifle ha- Oh, damn it." Praecantatia says, stopping herself as she glances over to see that I've wandered over to the cherry-haired succubus, who seems to have me in her grasp as she playfully feeds me an apple on a stick while giggling.

Praecantatia telekinetically takes a shaker and a few bottles of various liquid out from behind the bar. "What sort of power does this 'Nova Rifle' hold?" Praecantatia says as she begins mixing a new potion.

 

"It does what it vaguely sounds like it does; it's a rifle that uses a star going nova to propel partial neutron star cores as ammunition. Obviously, it's fairly durable." Idhaenna shrugs. "Making stars is kinda taxing, so I just harvest dying stars to make more while I'm recovering."

 

"Okay. Good point. But I can follow her for atleast a bit."

 

"That sounds...unnecessarily destructive. Have you attempted to use such power against the Hive Master?" Praecantatia asks, swapping out some bottles behind the bar and adding the new liquids to the mix, before closing the shaker and violenty shaking it.

 

"Can you elaborate on that?"
I ask Stella.
