She could use a love spell if she needed to, I suppose. I don’t know the dragon-to-cave ratio, though.

 

"I doubt a dragon can be charmed as easily as I was."

 

Kitsune magic can fool even gods, I’m sure she could pull it off.

 

"I would want to see that. That sounds super interesting."

 

"How do you do that?" I ask, curious.

 

"That's not civilian-class knowledge." Idhaenna says bluntly. "Besides, if your realm deems a medic mechsuit blasphemously advanced tech, you'd ask me to kill you if I told you. It's also not something I disclose to any magic user, mostly because I've never met a mage competent enough to experiment on my stuff without blowing half a damn planet up... and yes, I've met Stephanie."
Pause.
"If you couldn't tell, I'm not a terrible fan of magic users. I've also banned the practice of magitech after idiots took out plural planets trying to make something I already had working efficiently. So, I'm sorry I'm biased against you, but I'm biased against you. Praecantatia, though... she seems to know what she's doing. Mostly."

Amusing, if nothing else. Anyhow... uh... do you know any games we can play while I run? Or, like, anything to do other than run?

 

"Most of my existence is magic based, but I don't know a whole lot about the elemental stuff. Most I can do is possess stuff and the like," I say, trailing off a little, "Magic here is different from your reality. For one, I think Praecantatia is the only one who could blow up a planet if she really wanted to."

 

"A lot of high-capacity power generating spells have an equally high capacity to become catastrophic. I decided I don't want to deal with any of that crap back at home, but I don't really care what happens here." Idhaenna shrugs.
"Though I might be more lax about it right now because this is the first day off I've had in... uh..." She trails off.
"Anyhow, I really hate magic. O'rogal, our god of magic, catalogues everything for 'historical purposes,' and that's the reason the Hive Master learned his shit in the first place. I probably went a bit too far with how much of a mess I left his palace, but I did originally plan on razing everything he had. Your robot friend is decent at bargaining."

 

"Who, Eve?" I ask, surprised.

 

"No, the one who cleans up the messes you leave behind whenever you call it a day after a 'job well done' when you're 'saving' whoever you didn't kill. If that's not specific enough for you, the one who figured out what was up with Amethyst after you literally gutted her home and then left. Let me know if that still doesn't ring a bell." Idhaenna says, a bit annoyed. "He was doing so much, I gave him a complete rebuild... at least Eve doesn't need rebuilt from the ground up."

 

"Oh right, that guy," I say, lying, "Yeah, I know that guy and his proficiency at bargaining."

 

“Thirteen.” Idhaenna says, rolling her eyes.

 

"Oooooh, that guy," I say, "Man, I haven't seen him in ages. Guess we've both gone our separate ways while doing stuff."

 

“You haven’t really been in our reality with Ihra in ages, either. Not that I can blame you, I’m surprised you tolerate her and vice versa.”

 

"See what you can't see?"

 

Yeah, that won’t work too well. Uh... ah, whatever, this isn’t the first time we’ve been bored.

 

"It's mostly been preparation for when I do go back there because of how much more dangerous things have got," I say, "I realised that I wasn't strong enough to fight there and had to prepare better if I'm going to stand a chance."

 

“Well, the longer you wait the more time you give people to account for your presence unopposed.”
Pause.
“Oh yeah, have you met General Chroma?”

 

"I've heard about him from Stephanie. Apparently he's a dick." I say.

 

“He also was Kiin’s spy. Well, I mean, until recently. He tried to get you lot to help him free a few guardians from Atavul’s grasp, but Abigail spent a stupid amount of money on a not terribly effective bomb. Now I think he’s just insane.”
