Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

A silence falls over the table for a couple of seconds, before the royalty perks up.

"So, other-reality Gaia, how much of our kingdom have you seen?" Solus asks, smiling.

 

“Not too much, I’ve only been here a short time. We walked through a few parts of town, and a bit around the palace. I’ve only been in this area, though... I think.”

 

"Perhaps you'd like a guided tour while your friend visits Lady Praecantatia?" Solus offers happily.

 

“You would probably be a bad student in many places.”

 

“My point is I might learn something, and I’d be a bad student wherever I was.”

“That wouldn’t be too bad of an idea. Is that okay with you two?” Gaia asks Lux and her counterpart.
“Wait, I’m going there today?” Idhaenna asks, seeming a bit caught off-guard.

 

"Either way, we should get moving."

 

"Sorry.. just trying to lighten the mood a bit."

 

Gaia and Lux both nod.

"We can accompany you if you want, too!" Gaia says happily.

"I thought you were, weren't you?" Leilia asks Idhaenna.

 

“Right. Also, try not to scorch Levi on your way out maybe?”
“I would greatly appreciate that, not that either of us needed to say either of these things.”
“Shut it, I don’t need help stalling.”

Idhaenna sighs.
“I don’t have any arrangements made, but if Praecantatia is fine with me coming I’ll go.”

“I’d appreciate that, but... don’t you two already know what’s here? I feel like that makes the point of a tour moot.” Gaia says, a bit concerned.

“It’s fine. Again, it’s not something I should’ve told you. Though, just to be sure... you can keep this between us, right?”

 

"She's not usually so busy she can't accept guests." Lux says positively.

"Well...yes, but we could help point stuff out!" Gaia says happily to her counterpart.

 

"Sure."

"Anyway, how much longer till shore?"

 

“I’m precise.”
I nod.

 

"I assume nobody's keen on me just showing up, if recent trends are any sign."

"If you insist, that does sound nice..." Gaia says, still seeming to need a bit of encouragement.

"Let's see the extent of that, then." Scurn says, slipping out the narrow opening in Levi's throat.

"Twenty minutes, the currents are with us this time."

 

"I'm sure Gaia will be able to inform Praecantatia of your visit ahead of time." Lux says reassuringly.

"We'll get to hang out more, too!" Gaia says happily.

 

"Lucky us." I smile.

 

"I suppose such small things in our favor are oft overlooked..." He mumbles.

After a period of silence just long enough to be uncomfortable, the shoreline comes into view along with thin clouds barely dimming the sun.
"I can't say I'm used to outrunning a storm. It should've moved in by now, though... I suppose it's just another stroke of luck. Regardless, be safe." Mark says, lowering himself to the shore.

"Would it be too much hassle to notify her now? It would appear I'm interfering with a tour."

"Fair enough. In that case, I would appreciate a tour." Gaia responds, turning to the royals.

 

Lux turns to Gaia, who nods and puts her hands to her head, seeming to focus.

"Excellent! We can leave whenever you're ready." Solus says happily.

 

"Yes. And thank you for the ride. Again."

 

"I'll let Idhaenna get settled before we just leave her hanging, then I'm ready when your gods are." Gaia says, smiling.

"No problem. If you need another ride, you know where to find me."

 

"Strange, I can't seem to get through to Praecantatia." Gaia says, a little confused.

"Is she blocking you, or can you not reach her?" Lux asks, sounding slightly concerned.

"Oh, I can reach her. I just can't seem to get my message through." Gaia says.

Lux sighs.
