"He left? Where to?"

 

Eventually, everyone at the table finishes their plates - as well as a few of the extra plates of food on the table too.

"Wow...that was amazing." Gaia says, leaning back in her chair, full.

"It pleases me to hear you say that." Solus says happily, though quite full himself.


Amethyst notices some of the guards leaving and new guards entering the dining hall during the feast.

 

“There are quite a few unique berries and herbs you have here, I enjoyed sampling them.” Gaia says happily.

“Well... not going to lie, that was the first time I’ve eaten in nebular cycles. I might have to do it more often now.” Idhaenna says, satisfied.


Amethyst leaves the guard’s outfit as the guard leaves the table, curious and hopeful to approach the gods a bit more.

“Again, I have no idea. He just sort of up and disappeared one night.”

 

"That's excellent to hear!" Leilia says happily as the waiters come back around to collect the empty plates. A stillness falls over the room as everyone begins to stop eating, the atmosphere becoming far more relaxed.


Nobody seems to notice Amethyst immediately, though the gods are still a short distance away.

 

“I hope this wasn’t too taxing on such short notice.” Idhaenna says, glancing around.
“Thank you for the meal, you two; and, it was nice to meet you.” Gaia says, nodding towards Leilia and Solus.


Amethyst stops moving, caught off guard by the change in atmosphere.

 

"Of course not, our chefs are ready to work on short notice if there are gods about." Solus says happily.

"It was nice to meet you and Idhaenna too. It's always interesting to see what's happening in our alternate reality." Leilia responds, smiling.


Amethyst's sudden pause seems to attract attention, a few guards turning to look at her.

 

"Odd. He's supposed to protect the people and he just disappears."

 

“I need my other weapons, too.”

 

“You’re perfectly capable of walking a whole four steps to the rack you put them on.” Scurn snarks. “I hope.”

“That was so long ago, too, I assume he passed. Without the phoenix to reincarnate him, too... he might just be gone for good at this point.”

“Perhaps someday it will be safe enough to have you two visit in person?” Gaia asks, seeming a touch curious about the prospect.
“I could always spare an escort, if you don’t feel like waiting that long.” Idhaenna offers.

Amethyst ignores the guards, walking towards the table with the gods.
“Lady Gaia, can I go back with you?” She asks, Gaia glancing at her counterpart.
“Which o-“
“You. I want to go back. I love it here, but... I dunno. I just want to go back.”
Gaia glances towards the light royalty.
“Well, it’s their decision, not mine.”

 

"The phoenix can do reincarnations?"

 

“Yes, in a sense. He can grant others life through people willing to die in their place. Pretty much anyone is willing to die for a guardian.”

 

"Got it."

 

Solus and Leilia glance over the table at Amethyst.

"Oh, you're free to leave. We'll be sad to see you go, but if you wish to return to your reality, do not let us hinder you." Solus says.

"You're always welcome back here." Leilia says happily.

 

"Then why did you take my sword?"
I get my other weapons.

 

"Because it was recalled with my daggers and the other things weren't." Scurn says, heading towards where he brought you inside.

"I'm not sure how I'll get back, but I'll find a way. Thank you, though, I still owe you too much but I'll repay you once I make amends with what's left of my siblings." Amethyst says happily, bowing to Leilia.

"Of course, if Behemoth did find a way to reincarnate himself... well, none of us have left this world. We're supposed to protect it, and it's hard to protect something if you aren't there."
Pause.
"Despite this, I do hope you can keep this information to yourself? I don't want to worry everyone."

 

"You owe us nothing, don't worry." Solus says happily.

"Are you going now?" Gaia asks her counterpart worriedly.

 

"Did you tag my sword?"
I follow him.

 

"One last thing. Isn't there any way for you Guardians to give others a Guardian's power? Like.. Behemot is presumebly gone, can't you name someone else as the new Guardian of earth?"

 

"Only long enough to bring her home. I'm still not quite back to being able to step outside of Xlentia's palace." Gaia says.

"I could open a portal for her back, if that's easier. I still hope to make the most of my remaining 22 hours here. This place is the quietest I've been in planetary cycles, even moreso outside of the feast, but the change of pace is oddly pleasant." Idhaenna offers.

"I can pass down my power, but we can't pass down Behemoth's without Behemoth."

"No, it happens to be dagger shaped and I wrote my recall spell to work via shape instead of specific items since I keep losing them."

 

Gaia looks rather relieved at her counterpart's words.

"It would be convenient if you could do that." Lux says, nodding.
