"Maybe? I don't know what's gotten into her lately. Phoenix went to talk to her, but I haven't seen either of them since yesterday."

 

Gaia nods understandingly.

"I'm not saying all technology is bad, just the type of technology my children were working on. They were...building a hydraulic press to crack a walnut, so to speak," Lux says, "Though I'm sure Praecantatia and Temporus would love to see the type of technology this Idhaenna has to offer."

 

"Hmm.. funny that it's Ziz who is hot headed, and not Phoenix."

 

"No, they wouldn't. Praecantatia's probably been working nonstop to beat Idhaenna's so-called outdated AI since the two met. If your metaphor is a hydraulic press to crack a walnut, Idhaenna breaks walnuts with a laser powered by a particle accelerator array." Gaia says coldly.

"She's usually the calmest out of the three of us. I really have no idea what's going on with her, but I can't really do anything about it if she doesn't tell us what's actually driving her mad."

 

"She does seem very...attached to that sentient AI she created," Lux comments, "Though I find it a little hard to believe that Praecantatia wouldn't get along with another technological type. The last thing we need is another pair of gods dueling each other between realities."

 

"Is it possible she's possessed? I'm not sure if that's a real thing, just an idea."

 

"I don't think it'd be much of a duel. Idhaenna is... not one to care about consequences. Plus, she holds something over all of our heads - her personal battlemech is equipped with the godslayer of magic along with the absolute best tech she has. We leave her alone because... well, she can prevent us from sealing and bring us straight to the grave." Gaia says, seeming terrified by the thought. "Atavul's reincarnation, Xlentia's erasure, Virei'tus' judgement; she's found a way to circumvent us all... If you're lucky, she hasn't bothered analyzing how to deal with you should she feel the need."

"That's... a very real possibility. Possession usually requires some sort of link, though, and I didn't notice any lingering magic on her when we fought a couple weeks back."

 

"Well, I can't say she's done the same, though I do know magic works differently in our reality than in yours. Thank you for the information though, I'll bring it up in our next meeting," Lux says, "She seems to have done what my children were trying to do, though on a much greater scale."

"She sounds like if Praecantatia tried to harness our powers somehow," Gaia says worriedly, "If she were to kill Praecantatia, magic would probably go haywire or even cease to exist. Then all that'd be left would be her technology, and I don't know what would happen to us."

 

Gaia pauses, before shaking her head.
“No, she’s not destructive just to be destructive. I won’t argue with her going to far, though.”

A seraphic mechsuit uncloaks behind the three gods, Idhaenna opening the cockpit to sit on one of the mech’s arms.

“I’m not dumb. This reality needs their gods to function. Ours doesn’t. Do I have means to pacify them and throw them back here if he tries anything again? Yes.” Idhaenna says in her harpy form, looking straight at Lux. “Do I intend to kill? No. Do I have problems knocking any of you down a peg should the situation call for it? No. Regardless, would you mind talking a little less shit about me before I even say hi to half the gods here?” She asks, turning back to Gaia.

 

Lux seems to flicker out of existence for a second as he turns to face Idhaenna, though Gaia just seems a little scared by her sudden appearance.

"I hear you and Praecantatia aren't on the best terms. What's happened between you two?" Lux asks, voice still sounding polite.

 

“Between us? She’s threatened to mess with an AI that keeps quintillions alive and able to communicate with family no matter their distance. I’m not keen on having someone smarter than the Hive Master messing with my people, but she hasn’t done anything yet so I’m not terribly concerned. Why, did one of my underlings try to do something to her? Give me a name and they’re fired.” She says, calm. “I don’t want to alienate myself here already, but it seems that’s been done for me.”

 

"I've just heard you and her don't get along, I don't know much more than that. I'll speak to her about it though." Lux says.

"You think she's smarter than the hive master?" Gaia asks, curious.

 

“The Hive Master would be nothing special if O’rogal wasn’t a moron and let his followers study every damn spell in history. He’s only not making dumb choices right now since O’rogal is under his control, and even then I sent my forces to help, so to speak. The resistance doesn’t seem too fond of me knocking down a palace in response to the Hive almost knocking down mine.” Idhaenna shrugs. “Hell, on the note about Praecantatia, I don’t recall talking to her. Can’t imagine me getting along well with a magitech user, though...”

 

"Have you had problems with users of magitech in the past?" Lux asks.

"Praecantatia is really nice to talk to. I'm sure you could sort out your differences if you chatted with her." Gaia says happily.

 

“Yes, I’ve banned the practice of magitech in my domain due to idiots not knowing how to safely combine the two. I don’t care to have fools blasting planets out of the sky trying to make machines I already have. I suppose if she’s not an idiot about it I’d be fine, though I would probably find her work relatively primitive.” Idhaenna grumbles. “Do you have any idea how troublesome it is explaining to a planet’s worth of souls that something stupid that I told my followers not to do went haywire? I don’t have time to go soul-to-soul with that many creatures.”

 

"As the goddess of magic, I'm sure you'll find her work with magic quite stable." Lux says reassuringly.

"She keeps to herself a lot too. Though I suppose we all sort of do..." Gaia comments.

 

“I hope. I’d love to find a single magic user that doesn’t irritate me with their ‘tech is trash magic is superior’ crap.” Idhaenna shrugs, opening a small portal that leads to Praecantatia’s isles.
“This the spot?” She asks, a hololens projecting something into her left eye.

 

Gaia nods, though she looks a little unsettled.

"Shall we continue?" Lux asks, looking at Gaia's counterpart.

 

“...I’ll notify you lot of my arrival later. Rogue black holes sure are a party crasher...” She grumbles, hopping back in her mech which seems to simply flash out of existence.

“I... yes. Anything to take her off my mind.” Gaia sighs.

 

Lux leads the trio onward, coming to a guarded area that seems to separate the main residential area from a higher-class, richer residential area. Guards stand by a tall wall that appears to stretch to either end of the city, a large wood and metal doorway opening into a staircase up into the higher-class part of the city. Once through, everything seems to be a little brighter and a little cleaner, and people appear to be wearing more expensive clothes. A few houses seem to function as high-class shops, expensive fabrics and beautiful clothes displayed proudly in windows next to large price tags. Many light creatures don't seem to immediately get down and bow to Lux, though they do seem surprised to see the trio of gods in their district. The forest guardians do kneel to Gaia however, seeming to have a little more respect.

"I'll never understand why our children like to separate themselves based on wealth." Gaia says, smiling at the forest guardians as she passes.

"As long as they do no harm to each other because of it. Solus and Leilia have kept this place pleasant, as usual." Lux comments.
