Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

“Most of them aren’t dangerous at all, actually. They don’t really care for people, they usually just eat rodents, birds, and eggs.”

 

"Then I suggest you take the Admiral to someplace you deem safer." Cel says bluntly, seeming actually annoyed for once.

 

“That’s what she’s here for.” Shatter says, stepping aside to reveal an annoyed Ihra.
“What’d Abigail fuck up now?” She asks, walking in despite Shatter’s silence.
“...Oh. Got it. Yeah, I’ll handle it.” She sighs, telekinetically lifting Kiin with ease.

“Does Abigail need any help?” Ihra asks, sounding worried albeit annoyed. “Or either of you two, for that matter?”

Shatter stops thinning Abigail’s air, though he remains wary.

 

"Abigail's legs are the most badly broken, though her entire body isn't faring too well; I forced her into her dragon form to try and heal it a little, though if she reverts, she'll crumple up like paper," Cel explains, "Katie and I have sustained no more than minor injuries."

Abigail takes a slow and large intake, breathing out smoke from her nostrils afterward.

 

“Shatter, call off Apocalypse and see if Mirage can get Chroma back to his senses. Atavul did as much work on him as Abigail did Kiin’s sanity.”
“Yes, milady.” He nods, turning and leaving on command.

Ihra scans over Abigail’s body for a bit before turning to Katie.
“Do you still know where Rose is? Her healing arts would be better than mine for this sort of damage.” She says, un-warping Katie’s sense of time from siphoning true-zero cold.

 

Katie shakes her head.

"The last place I saw her was on my beach." Katie says.

 

Ihra nods.
“I’ll have Iris bring her over, then.”

She turns to leave, before sighing.
“I’m sorry about all this. I don’t know why you ever bothered helping me through my early years. Now I only wish I could stop relying on you and your other friends...” She says, weary. “This isn’t a burden you should have taken, and now it’s been so long I can’t break the rift without shattering the Realm of Shadows. I just... hope you live long enough for me to make it up to you.”

 

"Friends need each other. Not everything can be achieved by a single person. Some people may have abilities others need." Cel states.

"It's not a burden, it's been fun hanging out with you!" Katie says happily.

 

“I mean... back then, yeah. Now we need you and I can’t even be there with you to explore anywhere. It’s just... the war really is everywhere now. Except here... and your gods seem to be less than content with us being here at this point.” She sighs, tired.

 

"Likely because you're associated with the war." Cel comments.

"It'll be ok! Maybe if you lose the war, you can just stay here!" Katie says cheerily and optimistically.

 

Ihra sighs.
“Katie, if we lose, the Hive Master is free to erase Tenebrae due to how closely tied she is with the Realm of Shadows and how strong the rift is right now. That’s just really bad for both of us... I also apparently already burned my bridges of goodwill with your gods, though, so they just dismiss me as a psychopath.”

 

"So why don't we just close the rift?" Katie asks, confused.

 

"Closing the rift right this second would involve ripping both Tenebrae and Xlentia in half, for one. Two, destabilizing the Void would likely make even more rifts appear. Three, it's not that simple and none of any of our gods are able to in the first place... Except Tenebrae or Xlentia, but only if Tenebrae was erased and since that's as bad as the Hive Master winning this stupid war I'm not counting it."

 

"Why would Tenebrae need to be erased to close a rift to your reality?" Katie asks, even more confused.

 

"So, the longer a rift is open, the more it grows towards the beings that the location relies on. Since I think it opened into the Realm of Shadows, that kinda means Lady Tenebrae's getting increasingly stuck to my home reality. In simpler words, Tenebrae is one half of the bridge the rift has made."

 

"What if she were to go through the rift though?" Katie asks, curious.

 

"She already can't leave with darkness vanishing from your reality. None of your gods can, really, not without the little time necklace Temporus sometimes gives them." Ihra points out.

 

"Oh yeah..." Katie says, remembering.

Abigail lets out a low, long growl.

 

Ihra gives Abigail a confused look, before pausing.
"Wait, the dragons here went feral and can't talk, right? Does that include guardian forms?"

 

“I could likely get you there. Is that what you want?”
