(tehe, time to introduce our antagonists~!)

Nyxio scoffed as he finished a bite of his taco and Benet shook his head, sipping from a glass of sweet tea,

"They're rather...idiotic, but not all of them. Once in a blue moon you'll find someone who doesn't backstab or play games with you."

Kindra sighed softly and popped a strawberry into her mouth, tossing the green leaves back into the bowl,

"You're telling me."

Tae whirled around to look at the fire circle table and scanned the entourage. The table was filled with students of all shapes and sizes, but an aura of toxic superiority could be felt. Some students could be seen pointing to some water magic circle girls, whispering and giggling to themselves. Others were busy in conversation and a slim few were actually trying to tend to their own food or books. A small group of students glanced over at Tae, some of them challenging her with their frowns and glares while others held a more neutral look and even a mousy girl with curly brown hair and glasses offered a wry smile to her direction.

Kollin silently hushed Beci, the girl quietly getting the hint and slowly moved out of his way. His feet slowly pressed against the wood as he pushed a dark red curtain out of the way.

A horse in the shape of black smoke and swirling pieces of ash looked across the street. On top of it stood a gray armored and helmeted figure, two sword holsters strapped to their back. Tugging on the reigns, the horse let out a shrill cry that sent several birds on the street flying in the air.

Kollin quickly stepped away from the window, grateful that the figure hadn't noticed him. Beci looked at him with a curious yet worried look.

As Ky began walking to his room, the sound of something crashing above him could barely be heard. Opening the door to his room, sounds of hooves slowly grew more audible, growing so loud that he almost felt like a horse was right beside him. After a heartbeat of silence, the sounds of hooves slamming onto the cobbled street could be heard. To Ky's surprise, the window in his room was wide open.

Ms. Kiva clapped her hands and the room slowly ceased their discussions,

"Welcome class! For our new students, I am Ms. Kiva, your Kingdom History teacher. We'll be discussing how Kelas has grown to the home we live in today as well as the other three prominent kingdoms in Tysra. Let's get started..."

Ms. Kiva's lecture was rather uneventful. Simple history over Kelas interested Frozlar at some points, but also bored in during others. After class was dismissed, the automaton boy packed up his belongings and quickly left the classroom, bumping into a few other students. Taking out his schedule, Frozlar checked his schedule once again.

6: Kelas Literature - Mr. Lez [1:10 - 1:55]
7: Outdoor Recreation - Ms. Bylp [2:00 - 2:45]

 

Scratching the back of her head, Tae sighed and waved at them before sitting down, not waiting for any answers.
"I hope so. But good god, they seem just so..." Tae clenches her hand. "Ugh. You know?" Looking at her bowl, she began eating and attempted to forget what had been going on.

 

I whisper to Beci "I think it's best if we hide for now"

 

*dies immediately*

Important things in my room are... none worth my life.
Immediately back out and slam the door shut. Book it out of there, try to find my grandfather to make sure he's okay. I'll make plans from there.

 

Lysanna sighed and reached over to grab Tae's free hand,

"You're fine. We don't like them, but they're not all bad. Hang out with us though, and we'll have a great time together."

She flipped her blonde hair and slyly winked at Benet, who promptly rolled his eyes. Kindra and Nyxio chuckled lightly and the conversations between the group resumed. Tae glanced around the table at her classmates. Lysanna and Benet seemed to be talking about classes and future rune sketching contests. Kindra, Nyxio, and Dougal were casually talking about their plans for the rest of the week. A trio of new students seemed to be softly whispering to one another. Tae ate her food as she looked around, feeling some spirit returning to her body after being treated in the recovery room. [+3 HP] ~ [15/15 HP] [7/9 MP]

Beci's eyes widened and she attempted to look past Kollin, her voice a tad louder than his,

"H-Huh? Why? What's going? What did you see?!"

The sounds of hooves seemed to be approaching the door.

The sound of the door slamming caused a shrill sound of a neigh to pierce the air around Ky. Running to the main room, the sound of glass shattering above him could be heard. The sound of feet thumping on the wood and grunts and shouts could also be heard above of Ky.

I whisper in a hurry ''hide'' and look for a hiding spot myself

 

Tae ate her food quietly, organizing her thoughts. She looked around the table and smiled at the casual chats going on, finishing her vegetables.
Putting her tray away, the woman turned to Benet. "So, what do you do for fun here, asides from sketching contests and bets?"

 

Nodding his head, Oliver returned to his work. Lux continued working for a while until one of the robed figures entered their hallway,

"There's food if you all want some. Please, head up if you wish."

Beci looked around and stepped over to crouch behind the sofa beside her. Kollin could crouch beside her, try to quickly sneak around a corner, or try and climb the stairs in a hurry.

"Mmmmm, I just do my studies and that's that. Usually I also have to make sure no one else here gets into any trouble, but other than that, nothing too special. I suppose I also enjoy a good book from the library. People rarely ever take the time to enjoy good books anymore. What about you?"

 

"I do like to read whenever I get free time, but I guess my passion is forging items. It just feels good to use something you've made with your own hands, you know?" Tae smiles as she talks, some passion in her voice.

 

Glass is... Where? How close are they? Do I hav- of course I do.
Pull a sword out of my bag. I can use that to stall. Continue to my grandfather's room.

 

"I ought to not impose on you, young Hilda." Silva says, "Regardless, I also told the guards that I shall only be escorting you."

 

I'll try around the corner

 

Benet nodded his head, a small smile growing on his face. Lys took another bite out of her lasagna as she spoke,

"You'll fit right in then, Tae. Y'know, I kinda thought you were suspicious, but I guess you're actually cool to hang around. But yeah, Benet's a typical bookworm, nothing much to that end I guess."

Lys snickered as Benet catapulted a grape from his plate using his spoon, barely missing her head. She scoffed and twirled her fork in her right hand,

"How dareth thee! You shall pay for that!!"

"En garde, mademoiselle!"

Benet and Lys began to pathetically fence with their utensils, earning a roll of Kindra's eyes and a couple of new students cheering them on. The sounds of footsteps approaching their table caused Nyxio and Tae to turn their heads. A cluster of fire magic students led by a straight black haired girl stood before them, an awkwardly placed grape stain on her mini skirt. She glared at Nyxio before speaking,

"Can you tell your stupid entourage to not start a food fight here? It's the first day, we don't want you fake magic students to cause a scene."

All conversations stopped at the table. Lys snapped her head around, standing up in an instant,

"What'd you say, skank?! Tell me to that face, I dare you!!"

Nyxio turned to Tae, a worried look on his face. A couple of students murmured to each other.

Drawing out the Decent Sword out of his bag, Kylian rushed up the stairwell and barged into his grandfather's room. The scene before him sent a wave of chills down his back. His grandfather and a black armored and helmeted figure stood before them, swirling ash floating around them. Ky's grandfather held two short swords in his hands, glancing back at Ky,

"Kylian!! Don't come closer, you shouldn't be here."

The armored figure chuckled and sighed softly, her voice feminine despite the clunky armor,

"My my, Kylian? A destructive name. No wonder he took you under his wing."

Ky's grandfather rushed forward and slashed his swords at the armored woman. Raising her hand, a gust of incredibly powerful wind blasted through the room, sending the old man stumbling back. He coughed as he rose to his knees from the rough impact. The armored woman took a few steps towards Ky,

"Unless you'd like to test your luck against me, child, listen to what I have to say. I'll let you decide your next move before I plan your fates."

Hilda rolled her eyes as caught up to Hilda's side,

"Ugh, come on! They don't need to know that. It's just for one night. It can't be that bad, right? Plus look, I can see my dad's shop from here!"

The girl pointed in front of her and Silva turned towards that direction, slightly surprised from what he saw. A brick and dark oak three story building was before them with several chimneys releasing multi-colored spirals of smoke. Several hanging plants and crystals floated near the building as the duo drew closer. Hilda tugged on Silva's cloak and pointed to a ten foot fence beside the building,

"I can unlock the door from the other side, but I need you to do me a favor! I know this sounds crazy, but I need you to toss me over the fence. I can use my air magic to slow my fall, so don't worry about me!"

Taking several long strides to the corner behind him, Kollin leaned into the wall just as the door swung open, crashing into the wall. The sounds of glass shards ringed in Kollin's ears as a pair of heavy boots marched into the room. A pair of daggers were drawn as the figure spoke, the voice husky and low,

"Don't make this harder than it needs be. I know someone's here. Show yourself."

The sounds of skirts rustling hitched Kollins breath as Beci spoke,

"P-Please! Don't hurt me!! I-I-"

"Hmph. You're not who I was looking for. Where is he?"

"W-Who? What are you t-talking about?!"

The boots thumped towards Kollin's direction, but turned to his left as Beci tried walking back before being slammed into the wall. From the corner of his eye, he saw the man pinning Beci against a cabinet, a fistful of her blouse in his right hand as he pointed his left dagger at her,

"The thief. Where is he."

Beci coughed and squirmed under the man's grip, her skin slowly growing more pale from his suffocation.

 

I'll try throwing daggers in both of his calfs to cripple him

 

Tae got up as well, putting a hand on Lys' shoulder. She shot a glance at the fire magic students before turning to her friend. "Come on, they're not worth the time."

 

Kollin stepped out to throw his daggers at the man's calves, only for the daggers to simply bounce off his legs, returning to his hands. The figure chuckled lowly and tossed Beci aside, the girl collapsing to the ground and breathing heavily. He turned to face Kollin,

"Bold of you to make such a move like that. Here I thought you would be open to reasoning."

Lys glanced back at Tae and growled, rolling her shoulders back before sitting back down. Nyxio cleared his throat,

"We don't want any trouble. Just walk away."

The black haired fire magic girl laughed and glanced back at the group, most of them chuckling while a few looked a bit uneasy. She turned back to Nyxio,

"Really? You think you're sooooo bold to stand up for your friends here? You can do better than that."

Nyxio frowned and clenched his fists, tilting his head slightly. A couple of students from nearby tables started to point out the scuffle close by.

 

"I found this to be the quickest way of you letting her go, but i have a feeling that reasoning would be the smartest move for me at this moment"

 

"Says who, the one that needs a possy to defend herself from a grape?" Crossing her arms, Tae snickered. "That is quite sad, if anything."
Taking a stance, Tae put herself by Lys' side, waiting to see what the woman would say.
