Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

“I can’t reach.” She says sheepishly.

 

Katie takes Kiin back over to the coin machines, before trying to lift her up so she can insert a coin.

 

Lifting Kiin feels like trying to lift a full treasure chest; albeit harder to get a good grip on, colder to the touch, and it moves.
She does get Kiin high enough to put the coin in before she hesitates.
“Do I just drop it in, or do I wait for it to do something?” She asks, unsure.

 

"Put it in when the coins are at the back!" Katie says happily, the cold seeming to boost her strength a little.

The coins on the upper level move forwards and backwards with perfect timing.

 

Kiin drops the coin in once the pusher reaches all the way back, watching the coin intently as it falls.

 

The coin bounces back and forth as it falls, before finally stopping on it's side at the bottom. Once the upper level moves back, the coin lays down flat. After another loop, the coin pushes a few coins off of the upper level, which in turn push enough coins to cause the mass built up at the front of the machine to shower down into the tray, a mass of coins falling and clinking; along with a lollipop too.

"Woah! You did it!" Katie says joyously, putting Kiin back down.

 

Kiin looks down in the tray at the front hoping to take the lollipop, seeming happy with Katie’s praise.

 

The lollipop rests upon a small mountain of silver coins, Katie running off before quickly returning with a cup for Kiin to put her spoils in.

 

“Are those tokens or actual coins?” Kiin asks, shoveling just enough coins into the cup to take the lollipop.

 

"Real coins!" Katie says happily, "They're all yours, since your coin made them fall."

 

“You left the coin in the bottom, though. Isn’t it yours?” She asks, clearly more interested in the lollipop than the money.

 

Katie thinks for a moment.

"Well...you can have it!" Katie says cheerily.

 

Kiin shovels the rest of the coins into the cup after opening and starting to eat the lollipop.
“Do you think this is enough to make mum and dad come home more?” Kiin asks, sounding a bit hopeful.

 

Katie's cheery expression seems to dampen a little, before she shakes it off.

"I...um...no..." Katie sighs.

 

"Ah. Gotcha."

"So it's venomous?! And it was so close to me aswell."

 

Kiin looks down; nodding as she bites down onto her lollipop, opting to keep quiet.

She has, like, too many ways to kill someone here.

You feel the snake crawling over your foot, though it seems to simply be moving somewhere instead of annoying you.

Okay, we’re staying here for the night? Here?!

 

"Sup nerds." Abigail says jokingly as she walks over, Cel in tow.

"We're leaving. Abigail has satisfied herself." Cel says.

"Unless you two want to hang around a bit longer." Abigail clarifies.

 

Kiin shakes her head, before picking up one last coin in the tray and putting it in the cup.
“I’ve bumped into enough people for one day.”

 

"To be honest, I can't quite say I feel confident sleeping here with a venomous snake crawling around."

 

Abigail looks a little confused.

"She was responsible for the fire guardian whose powers were negated." Cel explains.

"What!?" Abigail asks, shocked.

"S-She didn't mean to!" Katie quickly defends.
