"What's this for?" I say pointing at the iron and drinking the tea

 

The doctor writes something down on a paper sheet. "It's for your headache. It'll help you deal with it."
Drinking the tea, Deton realizes there's some magic to it as well. "A combination of medicinal herbs and runes, I bet." He thinks, memories of the times he was sick in Heril coming back. His sister always used to bring him some tea like this one when he felt bad.

 

I give a smile as the memories of my sister come back, but remember I'm not alone right now and try to hid it"Do it just put it up to my headand hold it?" Drink more tea

 

Read the runes

If they are new runes add them to my journal

 

"I did that?" I say. "Did you know that?" I ask the commander.

"No, but I do now."
"Forget that."

 

"Yeah, that's about it." The doctor scribbles something more on the paper sheet, then looks up at Darx, which seems to be writing something on a journal of his.

Due to the complexity of the runes and how they are intermingled, Darx is only able to understand a couple of runes. It would appear, by the context they are used, that this combination creates the meaning for 'Soft'.

The commander comes back to the room, wearing more comfortable clothes. She has a muscular physique, and something that looks like a bracelet engraved with runes around her biceps. She pulls a chair and rests her elbow on the table, putting her head on her hand. Waving the second in command off, Raalehn starts.
"So, provoked huh? By what exactly?" She shoots glances at all present. "I want to know what you were doing as well, ever since the scream was heard. Make it quick, please. I don't really have the time to hear you talk about your mothers."

If she gives me a look: "What? I made it quick."

 

Sorryyyyyy I'll make it clearer.

The woman simply puts her hand over her eyes, shaking her head and sighing. "You know what I meant."

 

"Well, my mother has been dead for 67- No, 66 years? I don't know! I heard the scream, and wanted to know what happened. I ran - well, not run per se, but more like transcend the physical plane, momentarily destroying the local structure and dimension of time itself, and broke every law of spatial physics to get there. I don't remember the library [ / I literally don't remember, wut / ], but after I arrived, I noticed some amount of panic - likely because of the arrival of the most chaotically, magically potent being on this continent coming here by exploiting and breaking every technicality of travel shortly after the public murder of someone. I then saw you and your weapons, assuming you had been the murderer and were thusly about to kill me. Every hostility was intended as self defense."

What magic can I use? Any kind of illusion?

 

As of now? In theory, you could use a small amount of wind magic, but standing so close to the commander, nothing will happen. In general? Transcendence, Air and Lightning magic.

The woman nods for a moment before chuckling a bit. "You realize that one; Every guard, and that includes me and my squadron, uses standardized armour to ease our recognition and two; that sounds absolutely ridiculous, right?" She raises her fingers as she names her arguments.

"If someone here can confirm, then maybe I'll believe you. But as of now, I don't buy that you thought a murderer would tell you to surrender for breaking a law." Raalehn says, without batting an eyelash. She brushes the side of her face, which makes Vitiate able to see the multiple bandages on her arms. There are some cuts on her face as well.
"And I'm not entirely sure you're that you know about magic outside of the books, old man." She completes.

 

"Do I appear particularly intelligent? I thought not. Standardized armour could have just as easily been a gang symbol or uniform. I don't know, I was just passing through." I attempt to subtly change my appearance to look outwardly weaker, more fragile, and smooth my words to reinforce my victim persona.

 

Raalehn looks at Vitiate boredly, pointing at him and making circular motions with her finger. "You remember what I told you about no magic working here right?" Her tone of voice is almost as if she was about to fall asleep.
"Dude, come on. For someone that seemed to be that ceremonial about everything, you sure seem keen on not telling me anything." She adds. Looking at one of the guards, the commander says. "Can you bring me some coffee? I didn't get the chance to eat anything." The guard responds a quick 'Yes ma'am!' and leaves.

 

"I told you everything of note."

The commander. Female.

"I did what he did (point at the monk spirit dude), but without the mother and like a normal person."

 

Fraise fixed his circlet and casually sat on the edge of the present table, turning to the commander with a slightly cheeky grin,

"Raalehn, was it? Allow me to explain my...inclusion and perspective in this situation. I was at the Dark Willow with Deton here, when we decided to investigate the scream after initial drinks. Reaching the site, we noticed the other three here milling about doing who knows what. They left without a word, rather inconsiderate might I ask, to which Deton and I returned to the Willow for more drinks. We both held our own theories about this lovely yet rather peculiar trio here, before discussing our little mystery of a librarian. After finishing our drinks that a rather fine and handsome barman provided, I thought we could seek out the assistance and knowledge of the militia here. When we noticed your little skirmish with Vitiate here...not getting into the crossfire was what we thought best. Then you noticed Deton's injury and thus, picked us up on your way."

Finishing his speech, Fraise looked back at the group and tilted his head,

"Am I wrong, gentlemen?"

 

"Normal person? Normal person?! NORMAL PERSON?!?! Are you insinuating I'm not normal?! I sure hope so. Wait, who even are you?"

 

I nod.

 

The commander, she presented herself.

They are too small to properly read, and with Deton's hand in the way, it makes it even harder. Darx scribbles some of the things he thinks he has seen.

The commander nods and brushes her eyelids. "Alright. I can see that being the case. Thanks for the helping with my guards. In and out of duty that is." She slides a coin over to the cloaked man. A Silver Piece. "But I need one more favour from all of you."

A guard comes through the door, carrying a tray. Putting it in front of the commander, she nods to her subordinate. "Thanks." Raalehn then takes the cup and begins sipping the coffee.

Nodding, the woman takes a bite of a dry looking bread. "Thoughtful of you not to intervene. And what information do you want, may I ask?"

 

Don't make any action towards the coin.
"Well?"
