"She's the goddess of life, our goddess. Tenebrae is the goddess of shadows." Abigail explains.

Katie is rather hard to see, though Kiin can just about make her out.

 

“Is she still an oversized recluse?”

That reminds me... did Rema tell you what the banner thing was?

“I know. Did she go to Tenebrae first because she knew where she is, or is Gaia not the person who does things with finding people?”

Kiin continues to track her, seeming a bit wary of Tenebrae.

 

"She's right here. It's easier to speak with a goddess who's just sitting around in one of our worlds than trying to pray to one." Abigail says.

Katie's position doesn't seem to move much, being kept at Tenebrae's head height as they converse.

 

“Oversized, yes, recluse, I wouldn’t know, I don’t watch her habits.”

 

"Sort of. I wasn't allowed to go back to that area, to say the least."

 

“Last I heard, she stayed in her chambers and never left her palace.”

What’s there, in that case?

“I guess that makes sense...” Kiin sighs, still seeming antsy with Tenebrae holding Katie.

 

"...That's fair, then. Oversized and a recluse."

 

After seemingly talking for a long while, Katie is put down, and walks out of the darkness surrounding Tenebrae. Tenebrae's eye's gaze over her as she walks back to Abigail with a calm expression.

"Please don't tell me she didn't give you an edgy Shadow alter-ego." Abigail says almost pleadingly.

Katie shakes her head calmly.

"I think things are going to be ok." Katie says happily.

 

"Some ancient creature or creatures. Dangerous ones."

 

"What did she do?" Kiin asks, seeming panicked.

So, something or someone got buried there and Rema knocked me out over it because I asked. I... guess that they're super dangerous if that's the case.

"Are you sure that talking with her isn't going to be fruitless? I have no problem having Levi break our end if this winds up being a waste of time."

 

"She's a goddess."
I shrug.
"Would you like something more powerful?"

 

"We need someone with spare resources and strength, not raw power. Only an idiot would try to fight Atavul head-on."

 

"I suppose. I don't feel like finding out what they can do, so let's just avoid the area for now. Sounds good?"

 

"Then Idhaenna or Gaia. Your pick."

 

"Yes, let me request an audience with the goddess who wants me dead for swiping an AI and jamming it into a sea serpent."
"It still is sore, you know." Levi complains.
"Shut up. I guess I'll go with Lady Gaia."

Works for me. Being alive is better than knowing something for... however long it takes for it to kill us, I guess.

 

"Which one?"

 

"She said she'd help me if I need it." Katie says happily.

 

“Does that mean we’re going to go find them?” Kiin asks, seeming untrusting of Katie.

“...What?”

 

"Never mind. I think I know the one you're talking about. I can ask, but she's likely a busy goddess."

 

"Haha. Yep."
