"Well...mum says they get into really dangerous battles with humans, and they even got captured once! She says keeping us at home keeps us safe and away from the humans." Katie explains.


"Fire isn't exactly a 'healing' element. It's kind of the opposite," Abigail shrugs, "We don't exactly make the best healers by burning people to death."

 

“I’ll do it if Levi gets the hell off of my interface and stays out.”

 

“Wait... the humans have her seamap? They’ve likely been captured again, in that case... do you know their usual patrol route?”


“I was Atavul’s assistant. I am a healer. Part of me wonders if you just refuse to embrace or learn that side of the element.” Rose says, holding a blue flame that radiates a ton of heat.
“Fire used to be a symbol of life. Only later did it become a weapon. In fact, fire is used to preserve and not replace. Life magic often adds life that symbiotes with the person being healed, but only fire can truly restore them.”

“But I’m lonely!”
“What, we not good enough for you?”
“He’s more interesting...”
“Oh, shut up. Can you do that deal?”
“No, but I can promise not to do it by force again.”

 

"Hey, your guess is a good as mine. You're the one that should know, not me."

 

"I don't care if you keep talking to me or not, just get out of my view."

 

“I told her what I found, and she told me to smell an incense. Next thing I know I’m out here.”

“I’ll say yes if I’m still allowed to do so with your consent.”

 

"I.. don't really that happening."

 

"Sure."

 

“Then it’s a deal.” Levi sighs.
“You know he’s probably just going to ignore you, right?”
“Let me feel better about myself, damnit.”

Anyhow... we’re going back to the mainland?

 

"Unless it's urgent, yeah."

 

"Yes, I got some plans. But.. Mark just left."

 

"W-What? No! T-They've probably not been captured again, I mean, the humans probably wouldn't try to-" Katie says quickly, flustered.


Abigail just laughs at Rose.

"I don't know how it works in your reality, but that is not how it works here," Abigail says, laughing, "If I tried to bring someone back to life after they got shanked, I'm pretty sure that'd be called a barbeque!"

Abigail keeps laughing, amused. The air around her warms with her mood.

 

“What is her patrol area?” The draconian repeats, stern. “Her capture gave them the ability to see every boat, every creature, every being in the water. They’re not going to let that go to waste.”


“Of course. Fire brings back life from the brink, it can’t do anything where there is none.”

Rose sends a thorn vine into the water to catch a fish, then holds it towards Abigail. She then burns the vine with the blue flame, and sets the fish back in the water where it swims off as if nothing happened.

“I did get my answer, though. You seek destructive power as if you were Atavul. A shame.”

Did you try calling the ziz? I can’t remember her name, though. Or maybe the phoenix?

“Okay, that’s better.”
“I guess we have a deal, then.” Scurn shrugs.

 

"So, who do you want an audience with specifically?"

 

"I don't think the Ziz is too happy with us."

"I don't remember where the Phoenix and it's owner lived."

 

“No idea. I only know who Emerald and Xlentia are, and Idhaenna wants an excuse to kill me.”

Well... yeah that’s a problem. I guess we get to wait then.

 

"I...what?" Katie asks, scared and confused.


"That's not my type of fire magic. Fire is not a force of direct healing, maybe if I were to piss off Artemis and raze a forest, the ashes it leaves will let it grow back stronger, but fire is not an element for healing," Abigail says, seeming to calm down and be a bit more serious, "The most I can do is provide protection from it. Life is the element of healing."

Abigail throws around a blue fireball similar to Rose's fire, before letting it fall and dissipate into the ground.

 

"So.. Rema let you smell insence?"

 

“Xephyr gifted your parents with a machine that maps out everything in the ocean, even if it’s cloaked. The humans probably have it now. If they went out again, the humans would know exactly where they’re going. We need to find them, and you’re the only one who might know where they patrol.”


“A shame. It makes a lot of things make much more sense, though. Regardless, it’s nice to see you alive and not heartless.”

She told me to. I guess it knocked me out?

 

"I-I..." Katie says, before breaking down in tears, unable to handle the stress.


"Managed to get any of your rampant ships to sail lately?" Abigail asks, smirking.
