Grabbing the torch sconce to illuminate his path, he made his way to the end of the room. A single point had singed itself onto the map, nestled in the foothills of the Mallakar States.
"What? What's that?" asked Darian, tired, and like the cinder glow of the marked point, two words made themselves clear: NAKATH MAGAL

Ice was just as much pavement as the cement beneath his feet. Luckily for Darian, the library was across the courtyard from his room within his mansion. Bitter wind howled. Finally, he reached the familiar warmth of his library. Scanning the shelves, three books stand out to you: The Tomb of Nakath Magal, The 3rd Great Schism, The Ancient Art of Ghostcallers, and another with nonsensical text written in strange markings that shift their appearance, like animated text.

Darian takes out all three books. He decides to first read “Third Great Schism.”

 

Decided to delete my old reply because autocorrect wanted to be a dick and make it barely readable, plus adding extra detail now that I'm not super tired

I look at the light and the lines trying to peace everything together while muttering to myself "This is all very confusing, but i think i get it. 4 lines, 5 gods i think so the light is the 5th. So they either represent the gods or champions, doubtful about the gods since the magic god only got to me mid portal. 2 champions in Onas, don't know whose. 1 in Mallakar all signs point to Rakopot the worldkiller or whatever his name was and the last 1 is shifting.... Hmmm... Going to Mallakar probably isn't smart, Onas already has 2 that leaves only one choice." I start creating a portal mid way through i say "Wait i don't know to where i have to set it.." I look at the brand on my hand and say "Let's see if this is legit and what i have to do to activate the powers, let me try the long version. Venkalth Barlow orders the Soul Forge, Bring me the soul of a mighty steed."

 

A flash of light, and his eyes glow a bright, titanium white, as the ethereal form of a beautiful black stallion materializes before him, fully solid in a few second. Wow, he thinks to myself I didn't know I could do that.

 

I approach it and start petting it "Suprised that worked. I should probably give you a name. Probably something that strikes fear into the hearts of enemies... Got it." I start getting on top of thr horse and say "Henry onword to who knows where!" I start following to the shifting line testing out how fast Henry can go

 

Chapter 7: Proclamations for the Future

Research suggests that Schisms (as they are formally called) occur when all five gods of the Pantheon of the Five have chosen Champions who will at one point become their Avatar. It is suspected that when the barrier between our plane and at least one other is beginning to dissolve, that a council of the gods is convened and their champions chosen. The realms that are confirmed to have caused Schisms are the Heavens (Realm of the Gods), The Aetherium (However, the Wheels of Fate alone have also been able to cause Schisms), the Kazonn (Underworld), and Outer Reality (Realm of the banished Elder God)

Layla leans her head over the threshold, attempting to determine something - anything - about the portal, but there were no clues. Why not? she thought before jumping in. The portal was unlike anything else she had ever experienced, even other portals. It shredded her mind and soul, then pieced it back together, stretching everything to the ends of reality and back.

The other end was in some kind of library. She fell from the ceiling, crashing down into a bookshelf.
"WHAT THE HELL?!" shrieked the only other person in the library, who had four books, currently reading The Tomb of Nakath Magal, with a stack of three books by his side, one which appeared to be written in animated nonsense, the other two being The Third Great Schism and The Ancient Art of Ghostcallers.

The Tomb of Nakath Magal: Introduction (Annotated, 2nd edit)

Nakath Magal was a famed Mallakar Emperor, Scholar, and Mage. His tomb was recently found in the Mindoraani tundras, in the foothills to the Mallakar Mountains Range, the core of the Mallakar Empire, commonly referred to as the Eternal Empire. It was in his reign that the golden days of the Mallakar States happened, and the area that it controlled is more than half of what it controls now. These are the findings we found in his tomb, annotated.

Carvings and texts within the tomb:


"And yet, some dark force from beyond the stars manipulates affairs for the worse, both mortal and divine. The stars are going out, one by one."

It was, for a long time suspected that this force may be the legions of the dark God Rakatok-worldkiller, but this kind of monumental, monolithic change taking place over centuries seems to be out of character for the harsher, direct actions of Rakatok-worldkiller which have swift consequence for the mortal and divine planes. The previous quote was a direct translation of a proto-Androzaanika language commonly referred to as Ancient Androzaanika text carved into an especially well hidden chamber in the ancient tomb of Nakath Magal, famed Mallakar emperor, mage, and scholar during the Golden Age of the Mallakar States in the southern edge of the Mindoraani tundras from eight hundred and sixty-two years ago. The rest of the carvings are currently being translated under the permission of the Mindoraani Union's Kathak province, ruled by the seat of power in Mindoraan. However, the tomb has been vitiated by frost damage and residual energy from the disastrous force-summoning of Noxkii.



- The final words of Morak Kiin, Mallakar scholar, who was found dead in his office the day after his final words. His skin was covered in strange black markings that were clearly written in Ancient Androzaanika which changed messages. These messages have yet to be translated, even to the modern day.

The Tomb of Nakath Magal, Chapter 3, Section 5, Day 7 of the month of Maffaiaak in the year one-hundred and ninety-three of the 6th era

Carvings and texts within the tomb:

"And yet, some dark force from beyond the stars manipulates affairs for the worse, both mortal and divine. The stars are going out, one by one. First they are dimming out, their light dulled. They then explode in a brilliance of light, followed by a throbbing boom and whispers of incantations fluttering through the air."

The previous quote was a direct translation of a carving in the tomb of Nakath Magal, an expansion of the quote cited from Chapter 3, Volume 2, written by Morak Kiin before his tragic, mysterious death in his office. Because of his death, the responsibility of finishing this volume falls to me. It is suspected that, in some sense, the text is cursed in some way as it has lead to his death. That aside, the text itself is a recording of some of the final thoughts of Nakath Magal, who had gained some sense of omniscience after being stuck during the firing of the Soul Cavern weapon fired and developed by the Θaklaan vampire tribe in 164 of the 3rd era during a brief trip through time. It is suspected that due to the nature of the Soul Cavern's design, the nature of vampires, and the fact that Nakath Magal was in close proximity to the weapon at it's prime, and the way that the stars are destroyed are reminiscent of Soul Bind, Soul Dominate, Soul Steal, Will Bind, Will Dominate, or Will Steal, that the stars may be destroyed using some kind of soul magic. Another theory is that because of the firing involved spatial manipulation, reality manipulation, and spatial warping on an unimaginable, massive scale, that some amount of this power is somehow moving the stars, either to another plane of existence, out of view, or placing them out of sync with the rest of the universe.

- The final words of Tulak Ind, who died nearly identically to the man he was apprentice to, Morak Kiin, under the same mysterious circumstances.

The Ghostcallers were a group of gods-blessed people who were given the ability, the gift, to devour the souls of the undead, and put them at rest. They are profoundly powerful, due to magick's relationship with the soul. As a reminder, the soul is made of three (four) parts;

❋ - Will: A person's will and mind, intellect. It is those with Iron Will who are some of the greatest heroes.
✾ - Body: A person's body and physical form. It is those with with great body who are the greatest athletes.
✿ - Soul, Lesser Soul: A person's personality, love, and identity. It is those with strong Soul who are the greatest friends and lovers.

And lastly,

❂ - Binding: Binding holds each soul together, and everything, regardless of whether or not it is alive, has Binding. It is what creates structure and form, without it, matter would begin to fade. Mass would not come together to create objects. Destroying the Binding of an object will cause it "unravel", wherein it fades into its elementary parts and energies. When any kind of magic is performed, Binding is destroyed, because the nature of magic is to disrupt the status quo of the natural order, and the only time magic and the Binding have been in unison and in balance was before the destruction of the Chains of Karma. When magic is performed, the Binding is slowly burnt as fuel. Skilled magic users are able to use the binding within relics, artifacts, or just normal objects as fuel rather than the Binding of their own soul. When too much Binding is lost, the victim undergoes a process known as "Mage's Degradation", where an effect similar to unraveling happens. At first, it manifests in small mental symptoms. Hallucinations, paranoia, then into extreme paranoia, anxiety, split personalities, and insanity, then into physical symptoms such as extreme aging, muscle ache, permanent headaches and migraines, then into extreme rot and wither. Too much heavy use of degrading or dark magic, especially during accidents, is where something extreme called "Rebind" happens, where the lack of binding causes the soul to move to a relic, artifact, or commonly used artifact. In the case of Korbos Naklii, his soul was transferred to his robes and mask, which he never took off. His body began to disappear, so his soul was now inhabiting his wear. He was eventually vanquished, but not entirely. His mask was buried, with only a thin strand of soul still attached.

Most proficient magic users are able to steal or devour the soul or Binding from a person or object, or to otherwise manipulate souls by moving them from vessel to vessel. However, they are not able to devour a person's body - Ghostcallers can. They can fully control every aspect of a ghost's soul, granting them untold power. One of the most famous Ghostcallers was Gakaas Sormae, who was able to successfully and fully rend seven hundred and fifty two ghosts at once on one occasion. This granted him immense power, and the added souls allowed him to live until the ripe old age of four thousand, eight hundred and sixty eight.

Yes. You crash in during The Tomb of Nakath Magal but are not noticed until after the mystery book.

Darian puts the mystery book in his robes after reading it. It looks like pure nonsense as ink shifts across the pages. He turns around to exit,
"WHAT THE HELL?! WHO ARE YOU?" Darian screamed, quickly thinking, he tried to freeze time for additional thinking time. Perhaps the stranger could be subdued or injured while frozen. At the snap of his fingers, time froze. The snow was suspended in midair. The door stayed half opened. And yet, the stranger was not frozen.
"Who are you?" asked Darian,
"I could ask the same of you." retorted Layla, and Darian sighed.
"Darian Vangoth. You?"
"Layla Lacovara."
Both their hands seemed to explode with energy. The brandings they had received the night before glowed bright.
"There's something else at play." Layla deduced,
"Alright, fine. But only because I know something's up with you too. Darian Vangoth, Champion of Andro." said Darian, realizing how horribly wrong the decision could've gone.
"Layla Lacovara, Champion of Noxkii." said Layla,
"So there's more than just me? There are other Champions out there?" asked Darian, incredulous,
"Presumably." Layla said.
