Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

“I mean, attracting attention where there’s nobody around doesn’t make much of a difference.”

 

"Oh, no I meant the method of training." I inform.

 

“Right.”
I dart after Scurn.

 

“Judgement and justice does not bend for any distorted rule. Neither can he.”

The portal closes as you head through, Scurn jamming a smoke bomb in some shark-hound creature’s maw as it tries to bite down on him.

Scurn grabs your hand through the smoke, pulling you forward.

 

I try to listen to his footsteps in order to keep up with how he’s running.

 

You can't hear his footsteps at all, though you notice that he shoves your sword back in your free hand as he seems to turn a corner.

"Don't turn, go straight. The portal room is about another 200 yards." Levi says, seeming bored.

 

"True, but training yourself against one type of enemy - while effective - leaves you open with a weakspot and forces you to adapt when you are inevitably faced with a new type of enemy." I explain.

 

“If you think you can find his weakness in a fight, I’d be curious to see you try. Regardless, I doubt he’d lay a finger on you considering what you’ve done so far.”

 

"Good point. I'll just go to sleep and see who I can find."

 

"Battles against a stronger enemy aren't always won by a single person, though I too have no intention of fighting him." I say.

 

I do as instructed.

 

“Regardless, I hear... less silence. It was nice speaking with you. Perhaps I’ll see you out in the Void sometime?”

As you press onwards, a shark-like beast crashes out from a wave in front of you, narrowly missing your arm with its bite.

“Do you need something to help you fall back asleep? You just woke up.”

 

I retaliate by trying to grab its tail and throw it behind me as I press onward.

 

Grabbing its tail winds up being a bit of a mistake, one of four sets of pincers clamping down before it thrashes and knocks you off balance.
It can’t seem to bend all the way backwards to bite you, though.

 

I try prying one side of the pincers off with my other hand, still opting to throw it if I succeed.

 

You can’t quite get it off, but at this point you may as well use it as a flailing club against the approaching guard.

 

I look at them, disappointed, then slam the shark creature into them with a wide swing.

 

"Eh. Good point. I might just do it tonight then."

 

They etch a rune in the air which warps the shark-thing elsewhere before pulling a shield out of their robe.
“My apologies, but this is the price I pay for sentience.” He says, floating aquatic spears forming around him.

“Just don’t go back... you know where.”

 

"It's likely you'll find me in Xlentia's palace," I say, "It's where the portal leads to, after all."
