Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

“Wait... you’re responsible for that?”

 

"Hmm.. I was born in a forest, so yeah."

"There were some ruins just outside the forest. There is the deeper part of the forest, which is dangerous."

 

"I'm not sure about the hole connecting our realities, but I was the first one to enter your reality." I say.

 

“Well, first, I’ll need to know where you are to get to you, and second, is there a different name the ‘Radiant One’ goes by?”

 

Arkclal gives you a deadpan look.
“I’m guessing that also has a part to play in you returning, then?”

“I figured you could slip through one of the palace portals while the psycho lady with the mechsuit knocks on O’rogal’s door, for one. For two, I dunno. We haven’t had contact with anyone outside the barrier for... whenever the barrier was put up.”

“Considering the recent fire, I’m not sure either of those are safe.”

 

“Can I get more of an explanation for what comes after I slip through? Or, a list of things to expect? Both would be nice.”

 

"I've managed to set up a stable connection via portal to parts of your reality, so partly." I say.

 

"Good point"
"I might try going to sleep and see if I can find Ragnyon or Sgavrinn."

 

"You hope you're watertight, which you are, and you hope you find me before the other serpents comes along, which would be easier if you don't make me hack my way back here. As of a list of things to expect, you're going to wind up in a pitch black abyss and any movements you make will attract leviathan like moths to a flame. You hope you find me before the others think they found a snack."

"Aren't they real people, though? Why settle for a dream?"

"Was it you or Emerald?"

 

"Me. I have a private portal in the palace that can be programmed with locations, I just had to make it track something from this reality in your reality to open it." I say.

 

"Ah, you mean in that aspect. I meant... well, it's been a little while since the rift opened. Emerald's been doing behind the scenes work quite a bit. She mentioned asking you to help with something, but of course she went off on some self-improvement journey. Between you, her, and Lady Ihra; it feels like the most prominent forces against the Hive Master all stepped back in hopes of bringing something new to the table."

 

"Well, Artemis and I both realised that what we're facing isn't something we can beat with our dulled and aged sense of combat ability. Artemis' mother was training her, but she sacrificed herself and apparently even Gaia doesn't know where her soul is. It's why I've been away training for a few years," I say, "Though of course, under spell. I can't afford to leave the kingdom without a key ruler for a decade."

"I'm not sure what Shadow Stephanie's been doing, she's always had her own way of training." I add.

 

"It's easier to find them. I thought."

 

"I'm guessing this Shadow Stephanie would be the queen of queens?" Arkclal asks, sitting back.

"Well, if they're not here, there are... other places. Of course, you might be able to get them to tell you where they are in the real world during the dream."

 

"Correct. We're not in a relationship though, not anymore," I say casually, "A king and queen aren't actually required to be married to be a king and queen. Most do marry, but some don't."

 

"I'll see what I can do."

 

"I'm more used to there being a king or a queen, not both. I suppose that makes those rulers more of an emperor or an empress, though." Arkclal trails off, not seeming to mind the tangent.

"Don't get too lost out there. This might help, but it can only be used a few times." Rema says, pulling off a blue four-pointed star charm from a shelf and handing it to you.
"Break off one of the points to warp back here. It's not something that's repairable, though, and I don't have enough for you to use them every time you get jumpy."

 

"I suppose. I wasn't the one who came up with the naming conventions though, that's history's job." I shrug.

 

"I have to assume that you'll be giving me instructions as I move along?"

 

"Got it. Thanks."
