{rp} Tysra's Aftermath [6/6]

As you slip the gloves on and flex your hands, you probably assume it might be simple cow leather. Nothing too special, but seems pretty durable.

Frozlar turned his wrench slowly for a while, trying to see if he can harden his wrench a little more. He hopes he wouldn't have to smash someone with it, but better to be safe than sorry.

Pulling his wrench out of the furnace, Frozlar tapped his wrench a few times against the ground. It thunked a bit louder than he remembered, so he guessed it got stronger? He shrugged to himself.

Nyxio grinned and went back to the table behind him while Benet checked the small silver watch around his left wrist. Benet looked up at Tae,

"Uhmm, actually, I think I gotta get going. Y'know, I still need to prepare my books for tomorrow. See ya later, Tae!"

Benet bowed his head to Tae and walked off to a nearby building, possibly a boy dormitory sector. Tae shrugged her shoulders and went to the lines for food. After several minutes, she carried a small bowl of salad mixed with pieces of red pepper. Spotting Nyxio's black hair and light tan skin, she made her way past a few Fire Circle students who were watching one of their members juggle fireballs. Nyxio waved her over,

"Tae!! Over here! Guys, we finally have someone new in the crew! About time too, you guys were almost starting to get boring."

A girl with dirty blonde pigtails scoffed and stuck her nose up in the air while a few other students rolled their eyes at Nyxio, a couple of them chuckling lightly.

 

I brandish my wrench in the air with a slight new sense of power, then head to my parents and ask them for a combat dummy I can "fix" with my wrench. (although in my head I want to test my wrench's new combat skill)

 

I give her a smile and say ''I'll take them''

 

"Hi everyone! I'm Tae, I hope we can get along!" She said, holding her plate with one hand and waving with the other. Then, Tae looks for a seat.

 

Frozlar held his wrench up in the air with a sense of pride, quite proud of not burning himself. Deciding that he wanted to "test" his new wrench out on something, he exited the furnace room and clambered up the stairwell back to the living room. His mother must be somewhere nearby. Hearing the sound of metal lightly rining in the front yard, Frozlar quickly rushed over to the window and peered outside. Frozlar's mother was fixing a few bent metal plates, lightly hammering them to smoothen them. Opening the door, Frozlar poked his head out,

"Moooommm! Do we have a dummy nearby? I wanna...fix them with my wrench!"

His mother looked up at him, her green glass eyes scanning him. Her expression looked like he was scolding him,

"Dear, we don't have anything like that. And don't pretend I didn't hear you walk to the furnace room! I know sometimes you lurk around there when your father's at work."

Beci clapped her hands together, almost looking like she's praising the sky,

"Thank goodness!! I thought for sure Lady Paris would have my head if I didn't find any success in this district. The gloves are yours."

Passing Beci the 4 G, Kollin cracks his knuckles, eager to put the gloves to work.

The pigtail girl sighed and scooted a bit to her left, offering a spot next to her,

"I guess if Nyxio thinks you're fine, then maybe we can give you a chance. I'm Kindra, nice to meet ya!"

Tae sat down next to Kindra and glanced around the table, the rest of the students apparently going back to their conversations. Kindra rolled her eyes and turned to Tae,

"Ugh, these morons wouldn't know how to meet new people if it slapped them on the face. Anyways! You're the first new student we met. Did you meet other new Runic students? Are you a transfer? How did you like the auditorium?"

Kindra spoke quite quickly, barraging you with questions while Nyxio covered his big smile with a hand.

 

"I doubt it would be that bad, why would anyone take your head just because you didn't get enough buyers?"

 

Beci's expression looked as if Kollin slapped her across the face. She laughed a little, shaking her head at you,

"Silly man! You clearly haven't heard of Lady Paris. She's one of the most popular merchants in all of Seston! I was lucky enough to get picked to serve her, but it's not at all as easy as I thought it would be. She expects results, high-quality results mind you! Her thirst for prosperity and wealth is unmatched compared to other merchants I was under."

The crowds behind you seem to die down a little, a couple of booths starting to pack up their belongings.

 

"Okay, mom, just... uh... needed something to do." Then I ask in my best little kid voice, "May I pweeeez help you with whatever you're doing?"

 

I scratch the back of my head and awkwardly smile at her "I guess it is a lot diffrent then working at a tavern..." i look at her a bit unsure of myself "Glad I could help?"

 

Tae looks around, surprised by the flurry of questions, before looking at Nyxio and settling her eyes back on Kindra. "I, uh, well. No, not really, I only met Nyxio, Benet and kind of met Lysana. And no, I'm not a transfer student, I just passed the admission exams." Taking a deep breath, Tae continues. "And yeah, I thought the auditorium presentations were pretty neat." Smiling triumphantly, Tae looks at Kindra.
"I think those are all the questions. I'm glad to have someone to talk."

 

Frozlar's mother sighed and settled the hammers and tools down on the grass, straightening her back for a brief moment,

"Oh, alright. Just because you asked so nicely. There should be a toolbox in the backyard with some pieces I need to fix these panels. Could you go grab it for me?"

"You work at a tavern?! Which one? Maybe if I find the time to escape Lady Paris' clutches, I might swing by and pay a visit! Oh please, you don't have to thank me for your coin. Maybe I'll see you around here some other time?"

Beci tilted her head and offered a small grin, collecting the few remaining pieces of clothing in her heads and tossing them in a nearby wagon,

"I've got more districts to comb through. These clothes aren't going to sell themselves. See ya!"

With that, Beci walked over to a small oak caravan parked a dozen or so meters away from her and went inside as workers began to disassemble the tailor stand.

"Ohhhhh, okay okay! Sorry if I sound like a marathon, you're just, I don't know, so exotic!! Yeah, Lysana can act like such a lone wolf sometimes, but I don't blame her. She's probably one of the quickest rune drawers in the class, even Runemaster Grelo sometimes has to focus when he's racing against her. Benet's alright, but he's pretty much Grelo's pet. Tch, don't glare at me like that Nyx!"

Kindra took a bite out of the biscuit in her hands and a swig of water before continuing,

"So I'm guessing you must've lived near an industry zone in Kelas since you're interested in Runic Magic. You kinda stand out compared to our class, so sorry about judging you off the bat. Honestly, I'm glad you passed the admission exams! You must've done pretty well since I thought I saw you roaming around Central Plaza. Huh, congrats! Are you studying any other Magic Circle?"

 

As she was walking away if i had the chance i say "The Goldenberry tavern" and as she walks into the caravan i vandere the streets to see if there are other interesting stalls

 

"Actually, yes! I'm studying Earth magic as well. And yes, I did come from around the industrial area. I used to go out hunting for scrap, and one day I ran into a few Runic items thrown on the floor and bam! Haven't come out of my mind since." Tae says, with a gesture of her hands to express what she said.
"I hope I can get somewhere near Lysana skill level some day as well. Runes have been my dream since my early teens." Tae says, looking down on her salad. Then, she takes a small amount and bites down on it. "But that's just me oversharing." She completes with a smile.

 

From the window of Beci's caravan, you can see her looking down at something while her left arm moves slowly. Maybe she's writing something down?

Kollin looks around him and sighs as he realizes that all the remaining stalls have either left or are almost done tearing themselves down. He decided not to bother the stragglers since they were so close to finished and looked up at the sky. The color was a light orange and he guessed stalls wouldn't want to sell during the night. He shrugged, deciding to do something else.

"Oh hey, that's awesome! Jeez, you must pretty smart to take two Magic Circle training sessions here. Ozvio thinks they're the best, but I think it's mostly about us as the students, not just some dumb past history."

Kindra popped the biscuit in her mouth and winked at Nyxio,

"But maybe that's just me oversharing~!"

Nyxio sighed and rolled his eyes, ignoring Kindra's fits of giggles,

"Anyways, it's true that Lysana is pretty skilled in our class, but we're all pretty good at what we do. Some of us excel at utility drawing, crafting, or I suppose for us forging, or even combat runic magic. Do you think you fall under one of those categories Tae?"

 

I'll go back to the tavern, but this time as a patron

 

"That's so cool! I'd say I am good at forging and maybe drawing, I have some things I've done a while ago that I use to this day." Says Tae, reaching for her metal bat and putting it on the table.
"I did this a while ago, but the runes work quite well. I want to get better though."

 

Silva looks around in the shack to see if there's any food for breakfast.

Kollin made his way back to Goldenberry Tavern and pushed the double doors open, the sounds of glasses clinking and shouts ringing in his ears. He felt waves of nostalgia wash over him as he strolled past tables full of people, remembering his past few years working and meeting an interesting collection of people. Taking a seat at one of the few empty duo tables, the tavern's door opened once more and Kollin glanced over, his eyes widening slightly.

Beci stepped through the entryway, discarding her fancy merchant dress, wore some simple commoner clothing and her hair fell down past her shoulders instead of being bundled up in a bun.

Kindra gasped loudly and poked the bat, shocked as she saw it roll easily,

"Nooo, waaaayyy!! You made your own weapon?! Ugh, jealous! I totally should've thought of that, pretty sweet Tae."

Nyxio nodded his head in agreement, finishing his glass of ginger ale,

"Agreed. That's awesome, Tae! Maybe one day we'll see it in action? I've got a few people in mind that I wouldn't mind swinging this bat at."

The table laughed at Nyxio's sarcastic tone and Tae grinned, slightly surprised by how welcoming her new classmates. After a few more minutes of conversations rolling around the table, Runemaster Grelo returned to the table,

"Hello again students, I hope you've all acquainted yourselves with one another. I've received word from Runemaster Junva, who unfortunately still had to resolve several issues with our classrooms, that you may all return to your dorms. I'm sure when you meet the other new first-year students, you'll give them the same eager attention and respect you gave to Tae. Don't start any commotion! Tomorrow, we're hitting the ground running."

With that, Grelo turned and went towards the auditorium while the table of students stood up, a few of them racing each other to their dorms.

Walking outside to his shack-side garden, Rawb pulled out a few vegetables, herbs, and other greens from the ground. Starting up the garden was difficult at first, but over time, he eventually got the hang of it. He prepared a small plate of the cut greenery and ambled around his room as he ate, taking the time to enjoy the tranquil atmosphere.

Frozlar rushed over to his backyard and pushed the door open, looking around wildly. His backyard was filled with pieces of metal and other spare parts, tables all over the light green grass. He spotted the toolbox on one of the farthest tables away from him.

 

I'll wait and see if she notices me
