“That’d be nice, yes. Don’t feel compelled to say anything too important right now. I’ll explain why later.”

 

“You don’t seem to fit that bill. The beasts, on the other hand...”

“Wh- sure, okay. How long do you think you’ll be?”

Scurn hands you back your crossbow.

 

I take my crossbow back.
“Scurn, how long do you think it’ll be before Levi stops tapping in?”
I ask aloud.

 

“No idea, he didn’t tell me what he wanted with you.” He shrugs.

 

"No idea."
I relay back to Stella.

 

"I do have lots of things, yes."

 

"They're primitive...brash, they act without thinking - entirely on their instincts. A truly dangerous enemy is one you never see coming, a slow poison that goes unnoticed the entire time." I say, sounding serious.

 

“Get one of the soldiers to relay that for you if you’re still blocked out by then.”

“You say that as if you have someone or something in mind.”

“You should go check some of those things off the list, then. Take your mind off this for a bit.”

 

'Hmm.. now what did I have on that listed again?"

(Oh god, I forgot the dragon and it's owner's. I feel bad.)

 

“Will do.”

 

"Perhaps," I say, with a sly smile, "Though I have been training until just recently. I'm a little stuck in on-edge combat mode."

 

"I'd complain, except I don't want Arie causing collateral here... or worse, a god trying to undo any of the bindings on her."

"Well, I did my part. Go deal with the runaway."

"I'm not a runaway." Levi pouts.

"You... didn't tell me. Did you already forget?"

No, I meant the person that was with Sgavrinn. Regyon or something?

 

"Why would any god try to do that?" I ask, confused.

 

“Lady Emerald warned me of the goddess of magic here. She said she had a good heart and her ideals were in the right place, but if her curiosity brought her to Arie it could end up being fatal for one or both of them. She then rattled on about how there was something even stronger than paradoxium she used for some of Arie’s exoskeletal guides, but I had to go keep Arie from exploring too much and took off.”

I think for a moment.

"Well, I can see why Praecantatia would be curious, but I think she'd realise how dangerous Arie actually was and would leave her alone." I theorise.

 

"Okay. So I could go and look for Ragnyon and Sgavrinn's new master. I might want to go an learn more about my past. That was also an option, wasn't it?"

 

“I don’t care. What do you want?”
I message dryly.

 

Arkclal seems a bit distracted.
“Your gods seem fairly straightforwardly named. I suppose that makes sense, given their bindings to what form this reality... though I digress. Lady Emerald’s musings were endless, and I thought she was lying about a second reality metaphorically spot welded to ours. Despite that, here I am in it.”

“I want you to let me in all the fun stuff Stella keeps shutting me out of.”

“Scurn, get to the point.”

“Okay, okay, I want you to come see what I’ve got. I also hoped you had the Radiant One with you, but you look relatively alone.”

“I don’t know where a good place for you to go for that would be, if you wanted to do a little historical searching. I’ve spent my days here, not where you were born.” Rema shrugs.

 

"Honestly, I'm as confused about this as most. Taught me not to cut through the fabric of reality for the convenience of quick travel through it at least, though I still wonder what caused me to be pulled into your reality rather than my own again. The nonexistence between realities is a fickle being." I say.
