Are you tired of only using the same build with a different weapon for every one of your characters? Are you bored of seeing builds that just play and use the same as others even when you're maining a different element? Well, for the past months, the IM team have been hard at work, working on something big. As the preparation of the update is nearing its end, we’re proud to formally announce, The Elemental Revamp: Part 1 - Endgame Overhaul

As the name suggests, we are revamping the fundamental principal of items and elements in order to create a better build and synergetic environment. In part 1 of Elem Revamp (that's how we call it) which is this release, we’re focusing on the level 80+ endgame and some extensions. There is a lot going on, and I don’t think I can explain everything in one post, but let's get going.

    Introducing: Build Archetypes
We have rebalanced endgame armours to fit into one of the following 10 tri-elemental archetypes. An “archetype” is what we use to describe a playstyle of an element combo. While the items themselves are still single element or duo element and you are free to use whatever armour in whatever build, your builds will have a much significant synergetic and effectiveness boost if you use items of the same archetypes as they directly synergise and chain with each other.

Earth|Thunder|Water: Hybrid Glass Cannon - Chaos
The Chaos archetype focuses on extreme damage while trading away survivability. We’ve drastically increased glass cannon support, especially with Earth-Thunder items to make them much more appealing and worth it to use.
    Example Builds:
    https://wynndata.tk/s/06qi57 ETW Stinger by by2011
https://wynndata.tk/s/gyq9w4 ETW Event Horizon by Druser
https://wynndata.tk/s/09gw6k ETW Fate's Shear by Bart

Earth|Thunder|Fire: Heavy Melee Hybrid - Volcanic
The Volcanic archetype provides exceptional burst melee damage with high sustain. Fully utilising powder special and choosing the right armours to suit your weapon will be critical for this archetype. Thunder Fire also provide Mana Steal for subtle spell support.
    Example Builds:
    https://wynndata.tk/s/ceh671 ETF Eliminere by Bart
    https://wynndata.tk/s/vk45ut ETF Stinger by Druser
    https://wynndata.tk/s/grfne8 ETF Agitation by Druser

    Earth|Thunder|Air: Tiered Melee - Rogue
The Rogue archetype provides increased attack speed to your weapon for high DPS output as well as good mobility support, but beware of your health and defences.
    Example Builds:
    https://wynndata.tk/s/2yhe3f ETA Alkatraz by Druser
https://wynndata.tk/s/3p0fah ETA Island Sniper by Madkurre
    https://wynndata.tk/s/zfhgt8 ETA Grimtrap by by2011

    Earth|Water|Fire: Spell Tank - Paladin
The Paladin archetype features high health and stable spell capabilities with good regeneration support. Players that prefer a stable but effective playstyle will find themselves fond of building this direction.
    https://wynndata.tk/s/pvuo6j EWF Hellstrand by Druser
    https://wynndata.tk/s/mb3ipd EWF Monster by Madkurre
https://wynndata.tk/s/04k1yf EWF Blue's Whistle by Madkurre

    Earth|Water|Air: Spell Steal - Void
The Void archetype is a hybrid playstyle that utilises mana steal and life steal. While the archetype itself is not particularly tanky, you will find your combat sustainability is compounded with your high damage output for a very optimal playstyle.
    Example Builds:
    https://wynndata.tk/s/imha2r EWA Harwrol by Bart
    https://wynndata.tk/s/ixw8kn EWA Nepta by by2011
    https://wynndata.tk/s/pgso4c EWA Compiler by Druser

    Earth|Fire|Air: Fast Melee - Valiance
The Valiance archetype provides a quick melee playstyle by stacking raw melee. This archetype is highly effective against elementally defensive foes as the raw melee act as neutral damage that penetrates elemental defences. It also features a range of high health and defensive option if you choose to spec in that direction.
    https://wynndata.tk/s/okbhm4 EFA Cyclone by Druser
    https://wynndata.tk/s/zedsbo EFA Hero by LarzLapiz
https://wynndata.tk/s/3qnhsk EFA Ace of Spades by Bart

    Thunder|Water|Fire: Spell Spam - Anima
The Anima archetype features high regeneration for both the mana and health in exchange for a less stable playstyle. Players that prefer a bit of risk for the better reward would prefer this over the Paladin archetype but overall it is a pretty balanced playstyle.
    Example Builds:
    https://wynndata.tk/s/wi6lxb TWF Black by Madkurre
    https://wynndata.tk/s/iv61mn TWF Divzer by Madkurre
    https://wynndata.tk/s/6oh9m0 TWF Apocalypse by by2011

Thunder|Water|Air: Spell Glass Cannon - Tempest
The Tempest archetype adopts the "Run and Gun" playstyle and turns you into a speeding and spell casting cannon. Your health and survivability will be low but the damage, dodge chance and the walk speed will be more than enough to compensate.
    Example Builds:
    https://wynndata.tk/s/pbr9x6 TWA Weathered by Madkurre
    https://wynndata.tk/s/qidvew TWA Fatal by by2011
    https://wynndata.tk/s/urzde8 TWA Nepta by Druser

    Thunder|Fire|Air: Sustain Tank - Vampiric
The Vampiric archetype provides high life steal and mana steal for active combat sustainability. With a high health pool, you will never run out of health and mana provided that you keep attacking.
    Example Builds:
    https://wynndata.tk/s/1ps2o8 TFA Stinger by by2011
    https://wynndata.tk/s/j8i6dy TFA Monster by Bart
    https://wynndata.tk/s/dvnb7h TFA Plague by Druser

    Water|Fire|Air: Mobility Tank - Divine
The Divine archetype is the ultimate tank that provides exceptional elemental defence, health on top of mana and health regeneration. While your damage might not be as flashy as other combos, being able to survive any situation and shrugs off incoming damages are no joke.
    Example Builds:
    https://wynndata.tk/s/rawgd6 WFA Spring by LarzLapiz
    https://wynndata.tk/s/y0s3j4 WFA Shajaea by by2011
    https://wynndata.tk/s/0pybel WFA Hero by LarzLapiz

    Endgame Overhaul

    Hive Armors Rework
To cater to the different tri-elemental archetypes, we have reworked all of the hive armours and added new 6 new ones to act as the centrepiece of each archetype. This is to further incentives and synergise with your build. However, they are not necessary for your build to be effective if you wish to opt for the weapons or the accessories and more so act as an anchor point for new players to learn build making.

    Massively increased Melee Support
Melee items are much more diverse and provide different ways to boost your melee capabilities that fit into different archetypes.

    Massively increased Tank Support
Tank items are much more intuitive to be used in your build and will be the backbone for your build’s survivability, even if you’re not building tank exclusively you may still find yourself using tank items to provide extra sustain and defences to your build!

    Unique Tier Armors Buffed
Unique armours are no longer fodders used by inexperienced players, they have an innate higher skill point bonus and also have a much lower requirement. Experienced builders may find themselves comboing certain uniques to boost their overall build efficiency due to global skill point requirement increase.

    Distribution of Mana
Mana is no longer a luxury of Water, you can now find mana regen and mana steal in every element and every elemental combo, almost. Elements and archetypes will affiliate will one type of mana over the other to feed into their playstyle, but you will have a much more diverse range of options to choose from. Elements, combos and archetypes are also divided into Mana Regen-centric and Mana Steal-centric, by again arranging pieces on your own you can main and include different elements for different effects, and mana can be a part of your consideration

    Increased Support for Mana Steal
Mana steal is comparatively more accessible than mana regen to incentivise an active, dynamic and hybrid playstyle.

    Increased Dual-Elemental Item Support
Dual-elemental items are more accessible and have a much more diverse range of options. Dual-elemental weapons also receive an inherent higher base weapon damage to compensate for the split in two elements.

    Increased Pure Rainbow Support
Rainbow items, especially weapons, received a buff so they are better combo together instead of slapped onto other build archetypes. However, with careful planning, you can still use other element's pieces for your rainbow build instead of the other way around.

    Global Requirement Increase
Most if not all items in the endgame have received a requirement increase to fit into their combo. This avoids weapons to be secondary when they are not intended to be used as so as well as encourage using items of the same archetype to benefit from the skill point bonuses. Higher tier items also have a higher skill point requirement.

    Elemental Skill Points Bonus Increase
Single and duo elemental items have their skill points increased to compensate for the required increase to encourage chaining into other items of the same archetype.

    Rainbow Skill Points Bonus Decrease
Rainbow skill points have been lowered to a similar amount as what you would get from single/duo elemental items. They will now only be available in items with rainbow requirements, and they no longer take up all of the item’s power so there will be different extra bonuses on them. This is so that rainbow skill points bonus becomes less of a necessity and more of an optional bonus.

    Disclaimer
    About Archetype Restrictions
Players are free to combo different pieces to shape their individual builds in and out of an archetype for maximum efficiency. As all items will remain single and dual-elemental, there are no hard restrictions on following and playing a certain archetype if you use certain items. The items only incentivise comboing with other items of the same archetype in a much more synergetic way. This is to create a lower skill floor for players that are new to build making to be able to identify and stick items of similar nature into an archetype to learn build making. While experienced builders can find themselves exploring the newly expanded options to combo different pieces together, in fact, comboing different pieces from different archetypes with the use of crafted armours are likely to be the ultimate build synergy.

    About Build Creativity and Flexibility
As mentioned above, players are free to juggle different pieces together regardless of the archetype, but an archetype would only boost the synergetic relationship between different items of the same build. As different elemental combos will provide different aspects to an archetype, by focusing on different dual-elemental combo within an archetype, players have the flexibility to shape how their build will function. For example, if a player is running a Earth-Thunder-Fire Volcanic archetype, using more Earth-Thunder gears will yield more damage, more Earth-Fire gears will yield more health and defence, while using more Thunder-Fire will yield more life steal sustain and mana steal support.

    About Build Restrictiveness and Fundamentals
Higher tier armours and weapons will have a higher skill point requirement, while lower tier armours and weapons will have a lower skill point requirement and higher skill point bonus. Using dual elemental items also split the skill point requirement into two lower magnitudes. Therefore, if you're using an archetype, you may find the old way of build making of comboing high tier legendaries and meta armours very restricting due to higher skill point requirement. The update introduces the concept of "the higher the power, the higher the price". The more legendaries you want to focus to use, you may find yourself struggle more in terms of skill points, let alone mythics. As unique armours are buffed, the optimal build styles may be to assess what high tier armours/weapons you truly want to use and try to build towards that and use complimentary uniques for skill point boosts. Using dual elemental armors and weapons also gives a less restrictive skill point requirement for your build.

Interesting. I notice at the end you said that only items will be changed in this update; there will be no new mechanics. So these "archetypes" and "synergies" ov which you speak, are they just a consequence ov you forcing us to conform to certain sets ov items in order to be successful, or will there actually be some extra force like a set bonus?

It doesn't sound like there will be actual bonuses (that would probably require a mechanic change anyway). Imo, you can pretty much ignore the actual tri-elemental types unless you really want to look deep - e.g. the same way that the Earth/Thunder association with mana steal wasn't exactly widely known, it just kind of existed. You can build the same way as before.

I'm not suer if i like this.

Steamjet walkers and Burnouts' purposes both ruined.

    RIP a ton of builds.

This is a cool concept but dear god, it shouldnt be forced upon the community like this.

Perhaps I would recieve this better if the game had enough challenge to warrant such changes and revamps. Buff the game difficulty and give burnout its +attack tier back. Don't force a tri-elemental build on every player.

Note: I am not hating on this post, I just think its too radical of a change with too many changes nd limitations. It's not just item rebalance, it is an overhaul, but IT's going to break so many builds and >>force<< people into styles. And what is this about blue mask?
