[d&d] Masin Campaign [full]

This is a thread for a D&D campaign I’m DM’ing. If you’re not participating as a player I hope you enjoy reading it nonetheless!

In perhaps the darkest corner of the world exists an island, “Masin”, once overrun by terrible beasts and ancient evils before the first settlers purged the lands and established civilizations throughout to rid the island of its plague.

How often is it that there are no survivors in a massacre?

Spoiler: Main island map "Masin"

For characters that do not have a backstory/reason for being in Masin prior to the campaign's beginning, there is word of dangerous bounties that need to be completed. The rewards are promising and the opportunity for adventure is just as beguiling.

The sounds and scents of a very busy inn overwhelm your senses as you open your eyes, forgetting that you were almost about to fall asleep. The windows are open slightly, and a cool breeze slips through. It is evening, and an especially dark one. The dim lights are only making you more tired as soft music plays from the instruments of a group of musicians on a small wooden stage beside the bar. People are laughing, talking, bustling about the mediocre, yet cozy establishment.

Your senses awaken in an uncomfortably sudden manner, and a surge of cold energy spreads itself from your heart. It feels as if you were ripped out of your own body and shoved back in..

 

I lurch forward involuntarily, shuddering and gripping the table the nearest table with the metallic fingers of my right hand. I struggle to regain my composure and hope that no one noticed the small outburst.

Ordon (thinking): "What..."

 

I'll enjoy the music as I wave my hand around and wait for a waiter.

 

Wow very cool campaign Riven

 

A hard looking aarckroa is sitting at the bar strapped to his back are two metal batons. He wears a vest with all sorts of odds and ends popping out of a large amount of pockets. On his head are a pair of googles he has striking blue eye's and a metallic right hand.

Piplue:"could i have another round waiter?"

You notice a few of the waiters glance at you and then converse within themselves. Looking back at you they begin whispering more aggressively to each other before two finally shove the tallest out towards the seating area. They begin walking towards you with a smile. It's a male human with slightly worried expression on his face.

Waiter: "What may I do for you this evening?"

 

One of the three waiters approaches you with a kind expression on her face. It's a halfling.

Waiter 2: "What will it be this time, my friend?"

 

Piplue:"another round of drinks would be nice"

Whoops some confusion SRY!

 

A girl with bright green eyes, long blonde hair, and near-pale skin is leaning back on her chair and relaxing. She wears a wizard hat along with fancy robes, a little skirt, and boots. Sitting on the table is a pseudodragon, and leaning on her chair is a broom.

She listens along to the music, and when a waiter comes near waves to them.

 

After his brief episode, a male human sitting at a table near the bar regains his composure. Describing him as odd would be an understatement. Despite his relatively young apparent age, his messy hair is white as snow, and his skin is pale as death. Something about his face is just... wrong, like someone attempted to sculpt a human from clay but didn't get the bones underneath quite right. Closer inspection reveals his eyes to be an unusual shade of dull gold, with a bright blue ring around the pupils.

Things get more unusual moving down his body. The man's right arm below the shoulder, much of the left side of his torso, and his left leg below the knee have been replaced with mechanical prosthetics, intricately constructed from a golden brass-like metal. The detailing on the machinery is exquisite, rife with miniature clockwork mechanisms and descriptions of strange symbols.

The part-mechanical man looks around the inn and tries to relax, but seems to be having a hard time of it.

 

"Yes, can I get a drink please? Ale, if you have some."

 

The waiters wave when they come near, but turn around afterwards to check if you have any type of parent or a guardian sitting with you. They dismiss the uncommon sight.

He replies curtly:
Waiter: "S-sure. Do you have the money for it?"

 

"Ofcourse I have money. How much will it cost?"

 

Waiter: "4 cp. I'll return."
He leaves, taking the orders of a couple more tables before entering the bar.

 

I'll put my feet on the table, cross my arms and wait for his return.

She tries to call over a waiter, I guess...

 

Deciding that the best course of action would be to try and settle my nerves, I signal for the attention of a waiter.

 

I'm saddened I wasn't included in this list.
I guess I'll join in with the rest.
