(solved) Mc Versions Below 1.13 Crashing

So my computer just got an update and now i can only play 1.13+. If i use a version below the game crashes directly when i start it. Does anybody have an idea what might cause this? (I'm running my computer on linux in case that's important)

 

Backup your minecraft-related files, uninstall and re-install mc?
Might be a little risky though.

 

Already reinstalled it. Before every version crashed, after reinstalling only 1.13+ worked.

 

Hm, have you tried troubleshooting elsewhere, defragging, diagnostics and just everything?

Even the crash report often has important information.

 

In the launcher, enable game output, and post the crash reports here. I will most likely be able to help you from there.

 

I just solved the issue. It seems like versions below 1.13 only support java 8 (i used java 11). I found the problem through the game output, was a good tip. Also thank you for offering your help :)

 

Glad to see it worked. In general, never go past java 8. Right now almost nothing supports java 10, definitely not 11.
