So, mini-storytime here. Our English teacher provided us with a lexile-checking website (Lexile is the number used to measure reading level for anyone unaware) but this system is, imo, bullshit. For example, according to this checker, Charlotte's Web has a higher lexile than the book I did for my book report, Homecoming.

Keep in mind that Homecoming has 300+ pages.

 

It's probably because Homecoming has slang. (I never read it, but apparently, one of the vocab words are "dunno")

My lexile score is too low to comprehend. :C

 

We use a standarized test to determine our lexile, but I think it’s rigged. I can’t break past around 1300 lexile no mattet what, while some people get in the 1400s and 1500s

 

What did they do that you didn't?
