Does The Mage's Basic Attack Count An Melee Or Spell Damage?

It's a projectile so it being melee doesn't seem to make much sense. But at the same time, I know that Spell damage is for the mages last two spells, so i'm not sure. Can anyone tell me?

 

A class's basic attack(left-click for Warrior, Assassin, and Mage, and right-click for Archer) is considered their "Melee" attack, even for Mage and Archer, who fire a magical projectile and a literal arrow respectively.

Melee damage is essentially the "basic attack" damage, but that's unwieldy to say, so it's stated as being melee.

So, yes, Melee Damage affects your Mage's basic attack. Did you also know that Mage's basic attack can go through walls?

 

Thank you! I did know it could go through walls since I locked my friend in one of the Sewer dungeons combat rooms because I opened the door without him, and tried to help out by attacking the wall : )
