Community Event Wynn Ball Run / Race Around The World

Welcome to the Wynn Ball Run, or the Race Around the World!

Have you ever fallen in love with one of the many amazing cities of Wynn or Gavel? Have you ever resonated with the music of a particular area, or simply love the views from a specific area?

Come experience it all once more, at the Wynn Ball Run / Race Around the World!

The basic gist of the event is as follows:
*The race will begin in Ragni.
*Contestants will ride on horseback around the world from location to location, where they will receive a unique item as proof of their arrival.
*Contestants will be able to get off their horses TEMPORARILY to access shortcuts, such as climbing the canyon walls in the Canyon of the Lost.
*Certain cities will have food item rewards, memorable snacks, such as Lake Gyla's Purple and Blue Stew, that will grant contestants a few bonuses to help them on their adventures.
*Spectators will be able to watch at every city! Choose your favorite city, and blend in! Cheer for the racers, and follow along if you'd like to! (Please refrain from giving contestants any items that would give them an edge in the race.)
*The race isn't over until everyone and anyone reaches the finish line (unless the running time reaches huge lengths, then for obvious reasons it will end). That means that everyone will get a prize for reaching the end, as it's no easy task!

The rules and requirements are as follow:
*You must have at least a lvl 10 black horse. Black, Chestnut, and White horse-riding contestant apps will all be considered the same way. Brown horses MAY be allowed if they are leveled up to the maximum possible level, though brown horse contestant apps will be considered based on the amount of remaining spots available.
*You must be a level 90 and have access to most of the overworld. Without access to the entire world, this race around the world won't be possible! Contestants lower than level 90 MAY be considered, but, like brown horse applicants, their acceptance depends on the amount of remaining slots.
*Don't cheat! This is a simple rule, and anything that would break the event conditions listed above will be considered cheating. Don't try to loophole the system, it's generally pretty free.
*Encourage others! Don't flood the chat if you're falling behind, and help others if they're being massacred by a horde attracted by other contestants.

This event is still very much in-the-making, and so to organize this community event, we need you, the community!

So who do we need? What do we need to get done?
*We need high-level cooks to cook stat boost food.
*We need event organizers to help create the Race Map, schedule the event, and to generally set up the process.
*We need Contestants to participate in the event.
*We need spectators to be a part of the event and watch! This requires no ahead-of-time sign up.

If you would like to be a cook, an event organizer, or a contestant, please respond to the following questions in the comments:
1. What role would you like to have in the event?
2. What makes you a good candidate for your position (whether you're a high level cook, horse experience, map strategies, etc.)
3. Are you available for most of the Central Time Zone daytime, specifically on the weekends?

I'll be organizing a Discord server for event organizers and contestants, so be on the lookout for thread updates.

Edit: We've been sponsored! The Wynncraft Foundation has agreed to supply the prizes for the race and have agreed to help make the map, though we could always use some more volunteers.

EDIT 2: Prize system revamp! Race map being made!
Any racers will be able to participate. That's right, you can even go horseless! First Place Prizes will be awarded to the best racer in each horse category, and horseless will be an entire category of its own! You can still get the big prize at the end for finishing the race, and will still get minor prizes for visiting scenic locations. This means that even if you don't get the first place prize, the race will definitely be worth your while.

I've been collaborating with our sponsors at the Wynn Foundation to make two world maps; one if you're looking just to get the main participation prize for visiting all the cities in order and one for the true completionists showing the optimal route through both the cities in order and the optional locations. Be on the lookout for map edits!

by shortcuts do you mean just like yeeting over the CoTL wall or like the Passage?

 

I mean some good ol' fashioned wall scaling. Think like the early lvl 80's you who wanted to climb every canyon wall.

 

why go to the canyon when you can skip it with jofash dock :thinking:

This sounds pretty awesome actually, as I have a max white horse, a relatively good understand of CoTL and the Sky Islands with a non glass sub 150% walk speed build in reserve as well.
Also by short cuts are the fast travel options Detlas <-> Ragni, Detlas <-> Cinfras, Thanos <-> Rodoroc and Kandon-Beda <-> Corkus City, Seaskipper <-> Ocean Islands tolerated or not?
Oh and lets not also forget about scrolls either which will allow teleportation to pretty much anywhere and you can't moderate all of them because you would need to do a total of about 36 different locations so how your going to go about tackling that I don't know

 

The location you get the stuff will probably far from the major cities, also theres moderatrion so if a person cheats, they will be kicked

Even so, there isn’t a first place prize so if you cheat and don’t get caught, its on you.

 

There's going to be a lot of obscure areas then, also one of the moderation areas should be the forgery because that holds a grand total of 6 scroll locations, it's vital this one is countered as well because dungeon scrolls don't cost soul points. You'll also have to make sure that people haven't set up their other classes in other places as well, it just seems a lot to handle.

Edit: Actually I have a good idea, if everyone friends the moderator or does some sort of party we can see them on the map and then only one moderator is needed because we will be able to see everyone at once.
