Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Katie attempts to make a fireball, though seems rather scared of the possible result.


"The latter option would be favourable." I say, training still.

 

Crystal just keeps one eye trained on each of the groups.

 

She... can. Mist collects around the fireball, making a protective bubble of scalding water around the flame.


"Glad we're on the same page. I'd offer to just go to the location myself, but one you hardly trust me and two I'm filling in for Ihra while she helps Katie break bad news to something larger and more temperamental than Xlentia. Who do I give these to?"

After a while, the ground starts noticably rumbling.
"Think it's Landslide, or...?" Fireweed asks Shack.
"We might need to move. It is about that time of year again..."
"Can you fly, rock thing?" Fireweed asks you.

 

Katie drops it out of fear, terrified of what she's created.


I pause my training.

"Myself, preferably. Emerald basically told me to get them." I say.

 

Ihra jumps back as it explodes into a warm misty haze.
"Hey, careful!" She says, seeming a bit uneasy with Katie's reaction.


Iris telekinetically drops them in front of you.
"Well, now you have them. After you're done here, I'd really appreciate if you'd come back and stir up some more chaos again. It'd be nice to take a day off again sometime." She says flatly. "Though if you'd rather rest up at home after you finish, things are somehow starting to look up for your side of the war."

 

"Sorta."
He points to Linoa.
"I can with her."

 

"I-I don't like this." Katie says, nervous.


I take a look at the spines, curious.

"How so?" I ask, glancing up briefly.

 

"Nobody does, that's why nobody comes out here. But Sapphire... we can't just leave the edge beast in the dark."


"If I tell you, I don't want crap over me doing things my way because your group of heroes split up for a few months." Iris says bluntly.

The spines seem to describe the effects of being near a particular part of the edge of the Void, as well as a statement that the location is 'close to her home.'

Linoa offers Crystal to get on her staff.
"I take it this isn't the safest part of the valley?" She asks.
"That's one way to put it." Shack says, Puddles biting down on Fireweed's vines.

 

Crystal shifts onto the staff.
"Why not?"

 

"A-Are you sure?" Katie asks, unsettled.


"Go ahead." I say, spltting my attention.

"How descriptive of you, Emerald..." I mutter to myself.

 

“This is close to the place where Landslide got their name.”

Ihra nods, looking in Katie’s general direction but not directly at her.
“I mean... I can’t really see anything, but it’d take us even longer to turn back.”


“O’rogal is scheduled to be seiged in about three days. I spread a waterborne plague that wound up feeding on innate magic a little faster than I thought I spun it, so... the resistance shouldn’t need your help freeing O’rogal after the glacial barrier falls. There’s gonna be a lot less happy reunions after the fact, though.”

 

"H-How are we going to get back?" Katie asks, starting to panic.


"Sacrifices must be made. It's his fault for getting brainwashed." I shrug, uncaring.

 

"Wait.. what just happened here?!"

 

"O-okay..."

 

“I think she just admitted to using a love spell.” The naga says, smirking.
“Please don’t leave me down here, I’m sorry!”

“In other words, unless you want to get buried by boulders...”
Shack starts running down the valley, eventually being carried along in the air with a mighty seemingly-jet-powered leap from Fireweed.

Linoa takes off with her own wings, keeping Crystal between her and the others.


Stella’s hologram pops into view.
“Thirteen, it’s time. You need to get ready for your shot at breaking the glacial barrier.”

“Same way we got here, though the edge beast might be willing to help.”


Iris rolls her eyes.
“Don’t forget who you are after all this. Ihra’d be crushed. Anyhow, have fun with the... whatever the hell this ‘Arie’ is.” She says, starting to leave.

 

Crystal looks at the ground as he flies above.


“I think I am ready.”
I say, gripping my hammer.

 

"M-My water powers will come back, right?" Katie asks, nervous.


"Trust me, getting brainwashed is my lowest priority right now. If anything I want to prevent it from happening." I say.

 

"Well... this wasn't exactly what I was expecting, but it's close."

"Didn't think about what to do now. I think I need some time alone atleast."

 

“Yeah, everything goes back to normal once we get back.”


“I’d be paying a little more attention if I were you, in that case. Of course, being an embodiment of chaos, who am I to call out a brewing storm?” She says, shrugging.

“No no no NO PLEASE!” Anne begs as the naga pries her off of your arm.
“Oh quiet down, he’ll be back to help you out of here.” She sighs before tossing Anne into the back room and slamming the door.

The fog seems to be pushed by a cloud of dust, appearing to be caused by a few rocks tumbling down into the valley. There’s no rumbling or indication that a serious landslide is incoming.


“You’ll be sent back to Xlentia’s palace, with an intermediary warp to Lady Idhaenna’s palace. I will brief you further once you arrive. Understood?”

 

Katie calms down a little, seeming relieved.


"Why do you think I'm training here? To get strong enough to counter the oncoming threat." I say flatly.
