Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Katie looks shocked and horrified, going silent.


I look rather confused.

"Just...attack the dummy. It's not alive." I say.

 

"I would've rather you just not worried about it..." Ihra sighs. "But... Amber said Mortius had to come personally to clean up the mess. No guardian dared touch the battlefield that night, according to her."


Arie nervously looks back towards the bearded shadow, clearly wanting a way out of the conversation.

“Of course. You outsiders worry far too much.”

 

"Lead the way."
I'll help Anne of my shoulders and follow the naga.

 

She clings to your arm instead, still terrified.

As you enter the cavern, a room similar to Rema’s cave with a cauldron in the middle comes into view.
“When I heard you were related to Rema, I expected a halfdragon.” A feminine voice says from a back room.

 

"I'm half of something, so hope I won't dissapoint you too much."

 

Crystal just slowly melts into a puddle on the floor.

 

Katie just seems to be working things out in her mind, looking full of guilt and grief.


"Perhaps it is time you return to your training, Aj." The bearded Shadow says, noticing Arie's discomfort.

I sigh, shoving shadow katana back into the training dummy.

 

"The last time I saw a lycanthrope is when Rema needed me to take care of a few pups. Rare visitors never disappoint."

Ihra hugs Katie suddenly, not entirely sure what else to do.


Arie walks back towards the bearded shadow.
"Whh... y hhh... urrt?" She asks, seeming confused.

The fog soon starts to seemingly burn up, Shack stepping back a bit.
"Incoming!" an ember-covered serpent calls from above, falling quickly towards the group.

 

Crystal quickly shifts towards Linoa.

 

Katie just hugs Ihra back, shaking slightly. She seems unable to hold back all of her tears, letting one loose.


"Our training dummies cannot be hurt, they're designed to be attacked and not break." The bearded shadow says happily.

 

"May I ask what happened to them?"

 

“You may as well ask yourself that.”

“I’m sorry I brought that up again.”


“Sss...aafe t-oo hhhhh... ii-t?”

An ember lands on him, though it’s not exceptionally hot.
“Hey hey hey! Who’re the new people?”
“I’ll let you handle introductions.” Shack sighs.
“Well... I guess I’m Fireweed. Who’s the shiny puddle?”

 

"I...They...S-So much death..." Katie struggles to say.


The bearded Shadow nods, smiling.

 

"Right..."

"I would rather discuss what I came here for in private. Is that option available."

 

“Too much...” Ihra mumbles.


Arie walks towards the closest dummy and points at it, glancing back uneasily at the bearded shadow.

“Did you plan on asking for something other than a potion to check for a love spell?”

 

Crystal sucks up the ember, then shifts to stand up, eyes on Fireweed.
"I'm Crystal!"

 

Katie holds on to Ihra a bit, before starting to settle down. The air seems to get a lot colder, though.


The bearded shadow nods.

"That's one of our training dummies, yes." The bearded shadow says.

 

“Haven’t seen an outsider since Chrysalis was killed off. And you?” Fireweed asks Linoa.
“Linoa. Do most outsiders that come here hunt?”
“Yep yep yep, nearly all of them. Nothing more, too.”
Linoa glances off to the side, looking annoyed.

“We’ve still got a ways to go. I warped us a bit closer, though... but apparently things’ll start getting weird the further out we go.”


Arie gently punches the air towards the dummy, still seeming unsure.

 

"What kind of weird?" Katie asks, nervous.


The dummy remains unfazed, it's expressionless face remaining stoic as ever.

 

Crystal looks at Linoa, a bit worried.
