"Oh.. God..."

A sneeze is coming.
"A... achoo!"

 

"Isn't she a goddess though?" Katie asks.


"You're hard to understand, it would be easier for both of us if I could heal your voice." The bearded Shadow says calmly.

 

“A self centered goddess, yes.”


Arie seems a bit annoyed, before approaching the door and holding out a piece of its exoskeleton with engraved writing.
“ARIE - If you don’t know what to do with a question, show the other person this.

To whoever this concerns, you have found Arie, a creature I have attempted to teach how to talk. Their body is heavily manipulated by my magic in order for them to explore the world of the intact. Arie is what I call an ‘Edge Beast,’ a gargantuan being even in the eyes of titans who cannot naturally survive outside the edge of reality where rules start to fall apart. Attempting to bind Arie’s magic will be utterly catastrophic for entire realms, as thus I have made it as difficult as possible to accidentally unleash such calamity that would end many lives... including Arie’s own. She is very defensive and is difficult to convince or provoke, but her curiosity may be used to help keep her in check should she go somewhere she shouldn’t be.

It hurts a bit, still being stuck in the den.

They try to make you sneeze again.

“Does he ever tell you what he works on?”

 

"Yeah, he does a lot of the time! And sometimes I get to help him and then I get to wear this yellow hat,"
Crystal shifts the top of his head to make it look like he's wearing a construction hat.
"and when I wear the yellow hat I get to tell the other golems what to do."

 

"Wouldn't she want the best though?" Katie asks.


The bearded Shadow reads the writing, nodding.

"Very well." The bearded Shadow nods.

 

"I mean... I hope. I don't know what she does, stuck in her chambers constantly. I'd hate being trapped in one place... but she's immortal and is kept there! I don't think she's... normal, in that aspect."


Arie blinks at the shadow, seeming unsure of his response.

He winds up almost tipping a few things off the pallet, though Linoa keeps everything balanced.
"Don't... do that when you're carrying something on your head." She chuckles. "But it's nice he lets you help. Do you have a favorite project?"

 

"Yeah, with a lack of interaction, she'd probably go insane." Katie says, shuddering as if remembering a bad memory.


"I suppose you came here to train, like all others who scale this mountain?" The bearded Shadow asks.

 

“You know... maybe we should try to find her a friend first. Not to replace Emerald, but... I still haven’t seen any sign of her.”


Arie tilts her head.
“Chrrray... innn?”

 

"Maybe another dragon? Though they're really rare." Katie suggests.


"I am a well renowned master of combat, and I teach any student who manages to scale the challenges of this mountain everything I know. My most successful student went on to become king of the head kingdom of this realm," The bearded Shadow says proudly, "Surely you did not scale this mountain out of sheer curiosity for what rested atop?"

 

"Who's there? I'm sleeping.."

 

"Well one time this thing that he was making was veeeeeery tiny, so only me and him worked on it, and it was fun using all the magnifying glasses to work."

 

“I don’t know if any dragons on Earth would be willing for any of us to get close to them.”


Arie breaks eye contact, shifting a bit.

“What was it supposed to do?”

A fox barks at you in response.

 

“Listen to things.”

 

"They're pretty dangerous too." Katie says, looking down.


"I see. Well, there is nothing wrong with a little curiosity." The bearded Shadow says.

 

"What?!"
I open my eyes.

 

“Dragons have a history of that.” Ihra snickers.


Arie looks around for you. If she sees you out in the courtyard, she looks back at the bearded shadow and points at you.

There’s a fox standing in front of you, tail swishing back and forth as they pace back and forth towards the swamp.

“Did he put one of those devices in you?”

 

"It's probably why they were hunted down..." Katie sighs.


"Ah, I see my talk of my successful student has drawn your attention to him." The bearded Shadow says with a smile.

 

“People forget that cornered creatures fight a lot harder than otherwise.”


Arie starts walking towards you, somewhat curious.

 

Crystal thinks for a bit.
“...Dunno.”
