Barriers have always been a thing lol.

1.18 introduced huge chunks of barriers pretty much all around the map, with the intention of preventing grind spot cheesing. As a concept this might seem like a good idea, but execution wise most of them hinder exploration by heavily limiting where players are able to go.

A house? BARRIERED
A 10 blocks tall hill? BARRIERED
A 1x1 fence? BARRIERED

 

this is the quality content i expect from the forums

 

Pretty sure the extent of barriers aren't that extreme but ok

but like people said its to prevent camping on grind spots and also prevent you from getting outside of the map anyways

 

as someone who has glitched out of the map (and got banned for it) barriers will not stop you at all from getting out. No. Nada. Nein. Nuh uh.

 

yes i wanted to go in bandit camp so i went in but i couldnt jump over the fenceson my horsey and nearly die :(

Honestly I also find some of the barrier placement to be weird, or just too restrictive. A lot have been tweaked during Beta, but in some cases it's still somewhat of a problem
We'll try to find the right balance between what we want to be accessible or not as we continue working!

I don't like the barriers at all because when I was playing with a noob friend yesterday he kept dying at grinding spots because he's archer and couldn't stand ontop of anything.

 

I haven’t run into any barriers, I heard everyone talking about them but I haven’t come across any

Mood

 

I just wanted to say that Wynncraft foces you to grind to be able to do quests and progress the game.
But it also restricts your grinding options by decreasing good spwn rates and restricting access to safe grinding spots.
The devs are litterally making the game more tidieous for the player, only becaouse they want to shove the grinding in, becaouse "It's integral part of mmorpgs".

Seriously, why do we need to grind?

 

That's exactly why I have been avoiding playing the update. I liked the part of wynncraft where I was fighting tough opponents or doing quests. Clicking nodes is the same tedium as waiting for servers to reset and opening loot chests. I want action, and wynn has that, but we keep getting content aimed at forcing players to spend more time preparing instead of doing.
