Hello everyone! It is finally time for the highly anticipated 1.18 Grind Update changelog!

We recommend you watch our 1 minute (actually 1 minute 17 seconds) trailer before reading the changelog, it'll (hopefully) keep you in the loop as to what we are talking about.

As the title state, this update will focus on even more grinding, as if grinding from Combat Level 1 to 104 isn't enough. It's been something we wanted the players to feel even more miserable since the beginning of Wynncraft. In fact, the Grinding simulator has been a plan of ours since the very beginning of development back in 2012, but we will call it the Profession and Crafting system.

Of course, it's important to remember: this will never fix the economy ever. Because people are gonna sell crafted items anyways. We have two main goals however:
    - Slow down the inflation
    - Allow players who are hated by RNGesus or can't afford a Loot Bonus build to acquire relatively good wealth

Let's get started. (warning: thread is not suitable for users on mobile data)
    PROFESSIONS

We're adding professions to Wynncraft! There are two types: Grinding Gathering and More Grinding Crafting. You can level them up by gathering resources (for gathering professions) or crafting items (for crafting professions), which are basically grinding.

    oQkM95c.png
    GATHERING
Let's start with gathering. There are 4 gathering professions:
    Mining
    Woodcutting
    Farming
    Fishing

They work in a very simple way. Get a tool, find the resource, press Left Mouse Button, wait about 7 seconds, and then they get added to the inventory (Although lag will slow down your progress). You will then receive an unprocessed resource and an insignificant amount of Profession XP. Those are unusable, and you need to bring them to a refinery scattered around the world (which you will have a lot of trouble finding lol) to transform them into usable resources.

    3.png
Every unprocessed resource can get refined into 2 different types, which some does not make sense logically:
    Mining: Gems or Ingots
Farming: Grains or Strings (Crops can be refined into strings???????????)
Woodcutting: Woods or Papers (Wynncraft Global Warming, 1 tree at a time)
    Fishing: Meats or Oils

Refined resources get a random tier from 1 to 3 when created. Using high tier resources while crafting will give you higher quality items. But let's face it, people will only buy Tier 3 for crafting quality items to sell, and most of the time you will get only Tier 1 lol. But Tier 1 is still useful for levelling up your profession.

Every refining process has a refining success rate, this means RNG will hate you sometimes by giving you consecutive 'Ding' sound, which means refining has failed. All your efforts for gathering resources will be wasted on those materials that failed to refine. Who knows that only 40% of the resources you put through the refinery get refined successfully? Even though the game showed a 60% success rate. Yes, it's all part of the plan to make you disappointed, and make you buy the crafting materials instead, thereby creating a money sink to "improving the economy".

Maybe the Refineries need to git gud?

Oh, sometimes you might have trouble finding a specific refinery, like Crops Refinery in Nesaak/Lusuco. Have fun exploring Wynncraft to find the refineries, and then realise your Double Profession XP timer is ticking down...

    gNDbboc.png
"wait, copper gems? wheat strings? how does-" shhh don't worry 'bout it, it'll get even weirder later.
Actually Sandstone Gems and Granite Gems don't make sense either.

You get a new gatherable resource every 10 levels, same with tools. The time to gather goes up the higher level it is, so it's highly recommended you get better tools. Anyone want to try getting Level 100 resources with Tier 1 tools?

These can be found in dungeon shops for very low prices. Just kidding, you need 9 Corrupted Ice Barrows Fragments or 9 Fallen Factory Fragments for a single Tier 11 tool, which equates to 12 runs to get a complete set of Tier 11 tools. This will encourage you to buy Dungeon Bombs and Double Combat XP Bombs to support the server! Maybe Corrupted Ice Barrows (CIB) is going to replace the Hold W, Hug Wall and Level Up Corrupted Sand Swept Tomb (CSST) as the best way to level up?

    u10g37Y.png

And that's the most of it. Pretty simple right? A few more things to note:
    - Unprocessed resources have weight, you can only hold so many until they need to get refined or stashed in your bank. Which means if you stocked up the Unprocessed resources in your bank, have fun travelling back and fro. You may have a hard time finding the Refineries as well!
    - Gathering is completely client-side! This means if your friend cuts a tree in front of you, it'll still appear as if it wasn't cut on your side. Sorry to those who dreamt to cut down the entirety of Nivla with their guild, but at least this system will prevent players from fighting over the resources, thereby making Wynncraft even more friendly and less toxic.
    - 99% (We actually didn't count lol, just a rough estimate) of trees in the world can be chopped. "Well duh!" you might think, but I just wanted to highlight it because replacing thousands of trees into new ones that can be interacted with is a lot more work than it looks, hence why the last major update (Dungeons and Discoveries) was more than a year ago.
    - Refining a resource gives an insigniticant bit of XP in your profession too, nevertheless they will still be useful when you are close to levelling up.
    - The maximum level for each gathering profession is 130. However, after 115 or so, you don't really gain anything from leveling up, other than to prove that you are a No lifer, it's just for fun. If you reached Level 130 you need to take a break from Wynncraft and see the outside world!

Now, what can you do with these refined resources?

    CRAFTING

Now to the cool part, Crafting. There are 8 crafting professions:
    Weaponsmithing: Craft spears and daggers
    Tailoring: Craft boots and leggings
    Woodworking: Craft bows and wands
    Armouring: Craft helmets and chestplates
Scribing: Craft scrolls (works similarly to potions, but affect everyone nearby. You can even craft negative stats scrolls to ruin a Demon Cave party)
Jeweling: Craft rings, bracelets and necklaces
    Alchemism: Craft potions
Cooking: Craft food (works similarly to potions, but generally more long-term with smaller effects, don't use /class though, you will lose all the effects)

To craft, you must first find a crafting station. They are usually in towns and not very hard to find (compared to refineries). Except Gelibord does not have a Scribing Station, or maybe I missed it out?

    mpth9rc.png

"Cool" you may think, "we'll finally be able to craft certain items instead of having to pray to RNGesus and hope you get a good item". Well, not really.

We wanted to do something a little bit cooler: you can actually craft anything you want (Well not really anything, but almost anything). Can't wear an armour because you don't have enough skill points? Just wear a Blue Mask! Trying to make a rad build but an item you'd need just doesn't exist? Simply ask the Item Team to make it! Too poor for a Mythic but you really want to try some weird off-meta builds? You know what to do :)

    Here's how it works.

    7.png

Refined materials you gathered create the base of your item. Using lvl 10 resources allow you to craft level 10-19 items, using level 20 resources allow you to craft level 20-29 items, etc.

But honestly no one crafts unless there's a Double Profession XP and Double Profession Speed Bombs going on lol, since the material cost is expensive af and you get very little Profession XP. Having those 2 bombs active will save your materials and get more Profession XP, which is 4 times the normal Profession XP amount. So when those 2 bombs are active, craft as much as possible, and be one of those leaderboard players who either paid their money to get there, or stalk those kind of bombs-using players to get the benefits of the bombs from them! Even more ways to support Wynncraft server, and for your self-esteem.

When you craft something, it'll look like so:

    AP1HXNZ.png

Yea it's just a normal tier item with a different coloured name. You will then re-evaluate your life as a Wynncraft player to know how terrible your crafting recipes are. That's what happens if you simply craft something with no ingredients. What are ingredients?

    9.png

Ingredients are items dropped by specific mobs (not on a global drop like most regular items).
You have to grind them! Hence another reason for the name of the update - Grind Update
They allow you to add IDs (and more) to your crafted items. They go from tier 0 to tier 3. Tier 0 ingredients replaces current junk items, they are very easy to find and aren't particularly strong. T3 on the other hand are very good, but also rarer. Mobs that drop from T3 ingredients spawn so rarely you just feel that you are better off using a pre-made item. Common mobs that rarely drop T3 ingredients are also a sign that you should use pre-made item.

But most people will grind when Double Loot Bomb is active. Yay I think at this point Wynncraft can live forever.

You may have noticed by now, but almost all of these ingredients have minus "durability". What is it?

Crafted items are generally stronger than regular items, but they also come with durability just to annoy you. When you use these items, the durability will go down and you will eventually need to visit a Blacksmith to repair them, which is going to be very annoying, but for the sake of not fixing the economy. Worry not, items will never get destroyed, they just become less effective the more broken they become, until at 0 Durability, you are basically naked like not wearing any armour.

"Wait, a Blacksmith?" you might ask. Yes, Item Buyers were fired from every single towns in Wynncraft, and Blacksmiths took over their job, poor Item Buyers :(. They still buy items for emerald, but now also allow you to scrap items for... scrap (duh). Scrap is used to repair your broken crafted items. Generally, using low tier items (normal/uniques) is a good way to get scrap easily at low costs. Eventually your usage of Scraps is going to overwhelm you to the point that you should have just used pre-made items in the first place. Getting scraps is a form of grinding also btw, since you need to "grind" for the looting of items.

Anyway, every ingredient has a durability (or duration) cost. You can create absolutely overpowered items, but you will end up with a 1 durability item, which you will need to repair it if when you get hit by a Level 1 Zombie in Emerald Trail. You have to balance power and durability to create something good that is usable. It might get tricky at times.

[Some unimportant info that you are going to read anyways]
Each gathering job has been designed so they affect half of the crafting jobs. It's a very bottom-up way, so some crafting recipes might feel slightly strange.
For example, helmets and chestplates recipes require paper (which doesn't make sense), crops can be made into string (doesn't make sense too), gems can be made out of any ore (????????????????), etc. The upside is that it should allow each gathering profession to have their place in this whole thing, without being undermined by other, more useful professions.
[End of that unimportant info that you just read]

    Few things to note:
    - Powders can be used as ingredients to add element damage/defense to your crafted items without taking powder slots. (They will now have durability and skill points requirements, Ha nice try for trying to craft a weapon with 6 T6 Powders without durability and skill points penalty, to achieve higher-than-mythics damage output)
    - Some ingredients (we call them meta-ingredients internally, they are basically "Ingredient Effectiveness" stats) can affect other ingredients while crafting. It's one of my favourite part of this system that is constantly getting nerfed: depending on where you place ingredients while crafting, they can get boosted by other ingredients. We'll let y'all discover those by yourself
    - The maximum level for a crafting profession is 130 like the gathering ones. Again, it stops giving you anything useful at 110 or so, so reaching that level is purely for fun and to show that you have no life. Honestly go see the outside world for once!
    - Using ingredients when crafting can give a lot more Crafting XP, we highly recommend you use your "useful for GRINDING" tier 0 ingredients when trying to level up.

We hope you enjoy these new Grinding! It's been something we wanted to do since so long, and we wanted to make sure to do something so evil and so tormenting, you are going to have a bad time. Get ready to grind 12 more times per character (for professions), as if 1 time for Combat Level isn't enough! Just keep in mind a lot of balance changes will come after the update drops.

If you're still a bit unsure about how it all works, worry not! The new King's Recruit show you how to use these new features, which is unskippable so have fun doing the same quest like 13 times per account.

    QOL CHANGES & OTHER

    - Improved some wands and mob totem models, fixed diamond boots model and updated accessory sprites. Even though everyone wanted the old accessory sprites and wand models back.
    - You can now hover over player's name to see their past username, or their tag to see their overall profession levels, so you can identify No-lifers a lot easier now.
    - Clicking on players username in chat will autocomplete /message to quickly message them
    - Dungeons Token hoppers have been reworked to be easier to use, so you can stop making threads about "I dropped my weapon in the hopper", NO REFUND POLICY DUDE.
    - Buffed CSST XP reward ;)
    - Updated SST and CSST to be more fun to play, which is basically still press W and hug wall but lesser extent.
    - Changed dungeons minimum level to enter from -15 to -5 from the dungeon level, no more abusing CSST at Level 71
    - Added a lot of mob models to existing and new mobs
    - Doubled the maximum bank space, for rich people only
    - Elevators added in Molten Heights and Ahmsord
    - Extended the Void region
    - Raised the level cap from 101 to 104. These 3 new levels don't give any skill points or anything, they're purely cosmetic (except for using high level crafted item which can go up to level 103). 101 now takes a regular amount of XP to reach, and Lv. 103 -> 104 takes as much XP as leveling up from Lv. 1 -> 103.
    - New update room
    - Improved Fallen Factory conveyor belt section, which will probably still lag the entire server lol
    - Improved a lot of paths and terrains
    - Added jumpads to Llevigar to reach the top faster, which only shoots you up high into the sky, and then take massive fall damage; or they just never work and you need to try again and again.
    - Increased all rings effectiveness
    - Added Corrupted Ice Barrows Dungeon!
    - Changes to XP requirements. Mostly affects mid-game, it straights out the curve slightly.
    - Added the bug that Maro's Eye Jewel does not drop, so we can fix later :)
    - Added Detlascito 2
    - Increased Lag

    HERO BETA

We're having a HERO beta for this update! It's likely gonna be a buggy one like Maro's Eye Jewel, you've been warned! Testing progression on 100 levels, on 12 professions on a huge map like this is pretty hard, so we'll need all the help we can get. We plan to have it ready for this week and we'll open a forum section for all the feedback you may have that we will never read. Please let us know what you think of the update, it's a pretty big one!

We'll post a thread in the news section when the beta will start! We'll also alert y'all on Twitter and Discord too. Stay tuned!

As for the release of the update to everyone else, we still have no exact date, but it's getting pretty close! If beta goes very well (which never will), you should see it come out next year. We'll also keep you updated on that as we become more certain of the release date.

This statement is actually started making me mad.
I've seen a rather large number of people say this, and it seems rather complainie.
Like, let me put this in perspective.

I have NEVER found a mythic. Not even one.
Want to know how many I have? 8.

I have 2 Apocalypses, 2 Collapses "1 is currently on sale, please buy." a Guardian, a Alkatraz, a Thrundacrack, and a Hero.
Plus I have like 8 stacks of le in my bank.

You can get money without being lucky, does it help? Yes.
    Is it needed? No.

If you wish I can @ many others who have never found one, but have multiple anyways.

    Also,
I totally came up with that name on the Discord, so expect a lawsuit to be coming your way soon >:)
Disclaimer: I don't actually think I was the first person to come up with that. I was probably AMONG the first, but it's not like I copyrighted the name. 'Tis just an unfunny joke.
