Cave Update Discussion Thread

what how when and why

we (or I) want a cave update

how can we do it? (this is where the group effort comes in)

when? after the village and pillage update

why? caves are bland and need some improvements because the caves are too old

 

1) vary the caves throughout biomes, give them special features and maybe like plant life in them or different blocks depending on the biome
2) make new structures that can be accessed through a cave entrance (take advantage of the new jigsaw blocks)
3) make certain ores have a better spawn rate in certain biomes (ex. Desert has more coal, the more rare biomes like mushroom islands or jungles have more diamonds)
4) add new ores with new features (not necessarily a whole new armor, weapon and tool set, but maybe the ore has a specific function within the game, like maybe we add Ruby’s and you can make like jewelry with them and maybe even enchant them)
EDIT:
5) add new cave specific enemies that’ll make spelunking more dangerous but also exciting. Also maybe give them new drops

 

This is good ,i like it. Maybe add mining skeletons and generic zombie variant 5, called "The petrified" that slows on hit and pickaxes do more damage to it.

Skeletons can now mine if they have a pickaxe in hand

Rubies could be the source of limited magic, magic IS in Minecraft but it's in a world where magic is coming to the world so, The magic in the world is powerful but limited this is early / primal magic.

 

Maybe they can be found in abandoned mine shafts?

yea, i just wanted to avoid adding a new ore that only gives a new set of gear (just seems kinda lazy to me)

 

add fossils to the nether to add more spooky

 

Like flying demon fossils?

 

maybe not demon fossils, more like rib cage fossils and skull fossils

 

Well it needs to atleast have some sort of wings since look at the nether

 

Ive always wanted a cave update considering mining was always my favorite part of the game. So here is my list

1: Rubies
2: More Rubies
3: Give us fucking Rubies
4: Rubies are my favorite gem if you couldnt tell
5: How tf could Dinnerbone not tell the difference between Rubies and Redstone But he can tell the difference between Redstone and Emeralds. Because shouldnt Rubies and Emeralds look the same cuz red and green. (Im sure Rubies and Emeralds look different but im still salty.)

I am a bit OOTL regarding the latest minecraft updates. The only one I know of is the sea update, but there's some stuff about Villagers vs. Illagers and some sort of forest-based update with campfires and stuff.
Could someone explain?

As for a potential cave update, I'd like for the caves to have a lot more detail and life in them. Terraria-level detail. Traps, random structures, sub-biomes, random mining explosives near ore, spelunking tools, moss, those kinds of things.

 

Right. The current version out now is 1.13, which basically revamped the ocean and added a ton of stuff to it.
The next update, 1.14, is going to revamp villages and add illager raiding parties that can be found naturally around the world. In addition, illager watchtowers can be found around the world randomly.
Also, many of the crafting recipes are being moved to different blocks (IE Banners are decorated on a loom), and there are two new furnaces added that smelt food and ores, respectively, twice as fast as the average furnace. There’s also a campfire that emits chimney-esque smoke, meaning that cobwebs don’t have to be used anymore. Also, scaffolding.
In addition, bamboo forests are being added with pandas, and Foxes and berry bushes are being added to taigas.

 

Wow, big update. Minecraft doesn't feel the same anymore, though. Nostalgia I guess. Or that things like the new campfires and furnaces weren't things. I guess nostalgia is deadly to my feels.

 

I want enchantments to be harder to get. Mending shouldn't have existed in the first place, they should've just let anvils repair at a max of 40 levels.

If a cave update is added, they REALLY should fix Minecarts and Rail systems being useless for transportation. I blame it on bad design and the Elytra making every other form of travel basically useless.

Stalagmites and stalactites in caves
some caves are more narrow than others, others just reach far down to almost bedrock

 

Perhaps add some ore in the end?

 

yes, that would be nice, perhaps "peridot" or "ender peridot" it's green and instead of stone it has endstone on it

Now what would peridots be used for?
