So, I'm very new to the wynncraft community but while playing on the server, guilds were something that stood out to me. Since my combat level is still low I'm not planning to join for a while, but I wanted to know how guilds should be perceived in general.
    • Are there power levels?
    • How serious are people about them?
    • Do guilds have really big in game benefits, or are they something extra to the gameplay after reaching very high levels?
I also noticed that the wynncraft community in general is very serious and passionate about everything which I absolutely love. I used to be engaged deeply in another minecraft community before (it got shut down) but the community turned very toxic in its late stages and wynncraft shows no sign of it.
What makes this community so engaged and so warm? I'm actually very curious.

Any responses would be very much appreciated!

There are guild levels if thats what you mean. You can contribute a fixed percentage of xp you get from mobs and quests to the guild via /guild xp (1-100), with 1 being 1% and 100 being 100%. When enough xp is accumulated, the guild will level up.

I'd say a good portion of the players here are serious about guilds. And by serious I mean going to the extent of creating custom ranks, guild events, and the like.

Guilds provide no in-game benefits. The main feature is guild wars, where you are able to, with the help of multiple guild members and leaders, claim territory in the map for your guild. The territory does not affect the game, except that you get a cool-looking guild banner displayed in all territories your guild own. You can purchase mobs to defend the territory from other rival guilds seeking to claim it. Therefore, its not surprising many players devote countless hours to participate in guild wars, claiming huge amounts of land, and helping the guild become well-known, popular, and feared. Personally I'd say if you have nothing to do at high level, engaging in the guild community is a fairly good way to keep you active and make friends.

I guess everyone is just passionate about the game. Even though we registered more than a million users since the server's inception in 2013, our active playerbase is generally small. From this, our forum community is even smaller (albeit Wynncraft Discord has a much larger active userbase, but not that big) leading to the general community being close-knit.

When I said power levels I meant: Is there a guild which everyone can agree is the strongest. Or is that determined by guild levels?

Guild level (up to a certain cap) unlocks mobs you can use to defend territories claimed through war, they also increase the player capacity per one each.
That aside they are more of a prestige sign (especially past ~ 60), many old guilds have high levels due to their history but have not much of a presence when it comes to wars right now.

Often guilds also develop a strong community (via discord, in-game events and other games), so it's hard to measure which one is the "best". If you wanna go by wars then you can check the territory map using this link, but be aware that territory count rarely is stable and often changes over night.

The strength of the guild heavily depends on the players.
A guild can be strong in game but have almost no community activity or presence in the forums/discord/general community and vice versa

Thank you for guys for the responses. I just thought this whole guild thing was really cool. I watch anime a lot and this guild system (How you station mobs to defend your territory) really reminded me of the guild system in the anime Overlord which kinda made me wonder.

I don't know if anyone mentioned this, but for the next update there will be a guild update or RTD (Road To Dern. Dern is a new province) update, if RTD comes out first expect that the guild update will follow it very soon.

There is an alliance of guilds called known commonly as Valk, it consists of the top most active warring guilds (basically the entire leaderboard is always filled with Valk guilds). I don’t know if you were here or not, but relatively recently, the largest guild alliance, known as “The Federation” fell due to a lot of internal betrayals and corruption. This threw Wynn into a massive power struggle, as it was an opportunity for smaller guilds to rise up. Valk was one of those, even though now most of its members consist of past Federation members. Guilds work a lot like real life politics, there are alliances, betrayals, attacks and defenses, and strategies.

TL:DR; History and politics are my two favorite subjects, so I study Wynn lore and Guild politics. Ask me if you want to know about Wynn lore.

Here’s a fun Wynn lore fact: The Crystal in the center of Detlas City was imported from the Maex area in Molten Heights, you can find crystals with similar particle properties in that area.

    Nice ego feeding.

To respond to the OP's question, there isn't really. Guild strength can come from different source and at points can undermine one another. HackForums, for example, once owned 95% of the map and was pretty much insurmountable. Then one day, a combined effort of a few guilds superseded them. Then more stuff happened, more stuff.. basically, there aren't really strength levels. Sure; a guild is welcome to think they're the strongest, but it's not gonna be reliable, as anything can change.
