    So music.

    It's neat.

This is just a sort of a hub-type thread, for discussion on what the best or favorite track in Wynncraft is, be it made by Needlr, @Xavi, myself, Salted, Sage, or abiswas that one-to-three times. It also is a way to track what songs are least enjoyed by the community, and which people think could do with a rework. Since I've been reworking a few tracks recently(as seen with the new Desert and Ravines themes) I figure getting a second or third or two-hundred-fifteenth opinion might be good to see where it may or may not be needed. Besides, both of us love talking about our tracks, so you may get some neat opinions or trivia...

Disclaimer: Just cause you say a song should be redone doesn't mean it will be necessarily. It's a potential thing, and something that both myself, Xavier, and in case we get any other long-term composers in the future, whoever they may be to discuss and work through.

Here's the link to the poll: https://goo.gl/forms/j6ylmEl8Kzl94yA22
Just put in the name of the song, or if you don't know it, where it plays.

We'll check out the votes every so often and see what the opinions are(this also means we'll refresh it every so often, but we won't remove previous polls).

    Thanks for your opinions, everyone.

I just feel Wynncraft lacks actual fantasy/medieval songs where it's the general theme of the game.

Sky Island music (not the Ahmsord area) is a good music that feels fantasy-ish and feels that you are in the sky island.

Flight in distress airship music is pretty nice too, have the feel that you are riding air ship.

I don't really like most of the dungeon music, especially the corrupted dungeon one, they don't feel immersive, and have nothing distinctive from other music.

However the one used in Orange Wybel boss fight is good as it does feel like you are in a chaotic boss fight, and hence the name of the music.

I find almost most of the tracks to be medoicre and pretty foregetabble, while some tracks are amazing. The tracks that are amazing are as listed: (from what I remember)

Adventure: Still a classic, and still stands as an amazing track, and it’s pretty indescribabely good. But I guess it really feels like, “OH FUCK IM ON AN ADVENTURE DAMN.”

Nivla Woods: Really a bit of a mysterious feel, blending into the atmosphere as you enter these spider crawling woods. And then it hits you with that beat which I supposed is to represent the obstacle that the forest is to the hub of wynn, Detlas. Nivla is like your first obstacle into many other vast and amazing areas. Still a masterpiece after all these years.

Epic Wynn: First track you ever hear, and a damn one good one at that. Your first step into Wynn, and I think it perfectly accurately pictures what the state of Wynn is in now. The province is full of corrupt, but there are plenty of heroes, like yourself bringing hope to the province. Wynn is not perfect, hell not even that hopeful that it will survive, but it fights hard to achieve it’s survival. To train future heroes to combat the evil.

Jewels of the desert: Weird one, but this song really accomplishes atmosphere too. It does this by adding those kinda deserty (lmao) beats and overall it’s a good song to fit the desert ridden, mystery feel of Almuj.

(Add more later, doing homework and stuff)

I think atomosphere plays a big role, if the song is memorable. And songs like Dissonance that have overly dark emotions in them, tend to be forgettable, as there are already a shitload of overly dark almost emotionless tracks.

I really like a lot of Wynncraft's music. It has its own unique style, not over-the-top fantasylike or bass-heavy. The simple tools used give it a midi vibe, without making it sound like an NES game. That said, there are some things I'd like to see change.
1: change the Desert song back. Travelling at Dusk fits so much better. At first the Desert was quite empty, and the most exciting and adventurous song in the province played in that area, and now that it's riddled with discoveries and such the music there is dull and uninspired.
2: some songs seem to play at the wrong speed. I think Jewel of the Desert and Snowdrifts Billowing are both too slow, and maybe that goes for some more songs. Please fix that.
3: the song names aren't very good. It doesn't bother me and it's just a nitpick, but it just seems someone shredded a thesaurus and sprinkled the paper strips to create the titles. (Dormancy Reversal? War-Weary Reverie? Trespassers will be Excised? Come on...)

I also found the new Pigmen's Ravines song to not be as good as the old one. Sure, I get the idea of it as being a military march as the place was used as a way to transport Troms military and stuff, but the old one had this feeling of wanderlust and danger, which (in my opinion) fits more as the place hasn't seen much use, I think. The new one would be better in a place like the Kitrios Barracks (the military base in the Canyon of the Lost).

Of all of the boss themes, there's only one which I dislike, and that would be Melody of Reckoning (Amadel's theme). It's not the theme itself per say, it's where its used, Amadel is supposed to be this big bad that has betrayed you and I expect some decent fast paced boss music, or a very dramatic orchestra like theme. I genuinely thought that the theme was out of place and the real one had not registered yet when I fought Amadel with this theme, that piece of music would do better in a place such as a fallen city or fortress like skien's island (though that place already has a good theme so I really don't know what to do with it), Melody of Reckoning is just too slow and boring for my taste even though it does at least have a sense of melancholy which is needed in the fight I guess.

In contrast though World Ender (the Corrupter of Worlds theme) is in every way better to me because it's so fast paced which is suitable for such a chaotic fight, it also has a climax as well (0:47) which is absolutey legendary according to me and really raises the stakes of the fight as well (not to mention that background beat, oh wow I could go on about this for a while). Where as with Melody of Reckoning I can't hear any of that. (Although I must say that the intro is good as a build up but when it gets to 0:29 on the Youtube video it just goes completely off course of being an actual boss theme.) This is one of the only times when it would be better according to me to use other boss music (such as Fearsome Foe) as a substitute because the music is just so disappointing in my case and doesn't really live up to the fight in my opinion. Sorry to say :(

I can agree that Travelling at Dusk was a great song! However, in my opinion it really failed to fit the feel of a desert, especially considering all the new mystic ruins and gang activity within it, plus there's the speed issues. A lot of the CT was torn, but after listening to how it is ingame and learning about the speed issues, they understood and were mostly in favor of replacing it(though they were sad to see it go). You can listen to the original, as I recreated it, but unless more tempos become able to be used, it won't be going back ingame.

With the new song, the idea was to give a mystic feel, one of exploring old ruins and finding out new mysteries. Seeing as you can explore the old desert civilization to some degree now, with the discoveries in the area, I felt adding in that sort of melancholy mystique was important. Did you notice that some spots in the new desert song draw from Mirage of Dust, the Sand-Swept Tomb theme?

Pigman's Ravines was actually based off of a song by Needlr called Quest Givers, that was on his Soundcloud but isn't anymore since he, for some reason, deleted all his Wynn-related songs. It was a note-block recreation, and...an issue with a lot of Needlr's tunes is a lack of percussives. A lot of his songs are nothing but harp and bass for entirely too long, and Treacherous Walkways, the old Pigman's Ravines theme, was no exception. It didn't really capture the dangerous feel of the area, and it didn't feel foreboding enough for the hostile Ravines. So, by creating Military March, something with...well, a very military feel, heavy on percussives, it served two purposes: To reinforce the connection between Ragni and Troms, as it was in lore used as a passage to transport soldiers for aid, and also to give it a more dangerous feel compared to the more whimsical Adventure.

I sort of figured that reactions would be mixed to both of them, as they were both very nostalgic songs, but I've kept them in the Jukebox! They're at the very tail end of it, so you can still listen to them if you want.

I like about a third of the songs a lot, to the point that I compiled them into one of my regular playlists (alongside a couple of other playlists of similar length). Here's a bunch of random opinions:

    - There's this interesting thing going on where a lot of Xavier's earliest official songs sound similar. Examples include many Corkus songs, Hideaway of the Stalwart (obviously), Sheltered Settlement, Dormancy Reversal, and March of the Defeated. I didn't really notice until people started pointing it out, but I don't particularly mind since the style is so interesting.
    - Tale of the Century is probably my overall favorite, closely followed by The Last Stand, Travelling at Dusk, Uncivilization, and Stormy Seas. That was a very hard list to narrow down though.
    - I think Travelling at Dusk's in-game tempo is better than the intended tempo.
    - My least favorite theme is Light Realm, for sure. I actively avoid going to the Light Realm because of the music.
    - The way the Void music kicks in right after the crash was wonderful. I hope this is still a thing in 1.18, it really enhanced the quest.
    - On my 4th time fighting YahyaBot I finally heard Weirding. It fit the area surprisingly well, better than I thought it would given he's nothing like Naragath.
    - Nether's Lament deserves better than the Nether.
    - The Jofash docks music is really fitting.
    - The new songs that I've heard have been quite nice, although the playing region for Fringe of Fantasy is really weird, given that it extends across the river to what seems to be a really arbitrary edge.
    - Chaotic Encounter works really well for boss altars, especially with the way the bosses all drop from the ceiling.
    - I've never heard the ostensible Temple of Time theme in-game. No matter what I do I can't seem to get it to play.
    - The omission of the discovery jingle from the Great Bridge/directly going into the theme syncs really nicely with the discovery lore.
    - The Wynn cities music comprise my least favorite tracks overall. None are counted among my top 40.

"Stumbling to the Brink of Despair" is one of my favorites right now. Accompanying the sudden turn the quest took, it was the first time Wynncraft was able to make me "feel" something, as corny as that sounds. A more general favorite that I've found myself whistling to would be "Gylia Shanty". The list could go on, but I'll stop there for now...
