Hey y'all! Last month I did a form about dungeons, and it was very insightful! We've changed a few things about guardians and XP rewards (all buffs) with dungeons recently because of this, so thanks again for answering last time!

This time, I'm curious about crafted items and more specifically, scrap. It hasn't even been a month since the update came out so there's still many people not yet using crafted items to their full potential, but I'm still interested to see what you guys feel about repairing items/scrap and such. There isn't many questions to this form, so please answer as accurately as possible! Thanks in advance!

On this topic, I do want to add a quick note. When scrapping high level gear, Unique, Rare, and Legendary, (and probably Mythic, who knows) Items all give the same amount of scrap, 9-11ish. It would be nice if the rarity increased the amount of scrapped gained. That's one thing that might help fix the great risk with identifying Legendary items. I know that Common items only give about half as much, though.

That being said, going on a 10 minute loot run and picking up a ton of unique items for scrap is pretty easy, for anyone who's looking to easily get ahold of it.

I hate scrap lol. I think it'd be a better option to have items repaired with refined materials that are the same level as the crafted items so there isn't an overflow of high level materials.

Hey Salted, some of the questions don’t apply if you don’t use crafted items, notably questions 4 and 5, please fix. Make them not required please. Thank you for taking your time.

I'd like to tell how ridiculous are the scrap costs at high levels, in my opinion. I crafted a level 68 dagger and while testing it I lost around 2-3 durability. When I brought it to the blacksmith, the repair cost was around 12 scraps... excuse me... 12 scraps... to repair a lvl 68 dagger... that lost only 2-3 durability... I haven't reached level 100 in weaponsmithing yet, but to use, let's say, half a stack of scrap to repair an item that was barely used sounds pretty extreme, especially if the specific item is intended for longer usage and not for selling purposes.

There's a minimum cost, so the price is a bit more expensive if you try to repair it only slighty. You'll see if you try to repair 20-30 durability instead, it won't cost 120 scrap.

I said average for the repairing questions, because I don't have any crafted items an there wasn't an option for that plus it was a required question

The problem is that the crafted items degrade so rapidly that scrap is always needed to keep it at its full potential. I find that it degrades while IN TOWN, no mobs, no pvp, just walking around. That is more than a little frustrating. I do recognize that the crafted items are certainly powerful, but their upkeep is a major challenge.

The way I see it, anything that requires a non-zero cost in order to continue using it at its full efficiency is a waste of time and resources. I only craft stuff for the levels and to immediately sell them. I'd much rather use something that may be less powerful but don't have to upkeep than spend so much time working on making better items just to have them suck again after a while of using them.

honestly with the professions update and being a high combat level it seems like i have to grind for hours on end just to get something that I don't even know are useful. like i've got level 40 or so in each gathering thing and i haven't used 1 single item i've crafted, and i'm nowhere near the experience to actually make something for a build.

edit: the relation to scrap being that i've never actually used a good crafted item before, and I know that I'll have to repair it and such if I actually want to use it, and that makes crafted items seem just so unworthy of my time now

Im only using crafted weapon and amulet. Scrap is fairy easy to maintain, tho I'd gladly see significant increase in scrap cost, but also items decaying munch slower. While scrap is not a problem it's really frustrating having to run back to Town every 10 min to repair my stuff. I suggest make them decay 3x slower, but cost 3x more scrap to repair to keep it fair. Also I would love to be able to scrap unidenified items (for munch less scrap ofc) without need to pay for identification just to scrap it later. Im actually searching for normal white items now while leaving unique/rare behind just so I dont have to pay for Identification before scrapping them.
