You think she started it?

 

Gaia creates a throne for herself from the surrounding nature, sitting and thinking.

"Very well." Gaia says.

 

“Think of this as an apology - I lack the ability to fix what I break. But, she wields the staff of absolute creation and has started learning how to develop her own system of magic. She has performed miracles that she should be far too inexperienced to pull off. She’s even got the will to stand up to gods - that’s just not mortal. Plus, she’s been sealed - the defining trait of being a god.” She says. “I know I’m only one of the inner demons she fights, and I’m far from her top concern. I don’t want to know her biggest problem.”

 

Gaia nods, listening.

 

"Not making any assumptions, but we still don't know what started it. She's the only one capable of creating fire that we know off."

"Well.. there could still be campfires and such.."

 

Iris yawns and stretches a bit.
"Well, that's pretty much it for me. Not a whole lot, but I thought it was worth risking my being to tell you what I've stumbled across so far. I went too far with the seed, and for that I'm sorry. I'm an embodiment of chaos and suffering, sure, but the people it affected were supposed to be free of that." She says, finally looking Gaia in the eye.
"I screwed up, and I hope you can at least accept my acknowledgement of my failure."

I guess that an accident could still be possible. The timing seemed a bit... intentional.

 

“They sound cool!”

 

"...I assume you mean something other than they're cold. If so... what?"

 

“I mean, uh... interesting.”

 

"Yeah. What's the coincident of her being there and a fire nearby."

"How did we met her again? We walked into her or something?"

 

“Oh. Well, everyone who comes by not trying to kill one of us seems pretty cool to us, then.” Shack says, trying to figure out how to use the word the way Crystal did.

We tried eating her. And then smelled like burnt fur.

 

"We chased her, right? And then when we caught her, we smelled the fire."

"Oh yeah.. of which she claimed she lead us to."

 

“Yeah, I bet they are! I mean, you guys don’t seem like the killable type.”

 

She at least knew about it. We should ask her tonight.

 

"After the meeting with the Naga. Don't want things to get messy."

 

Fair. We do need those charms first.

Shack’s expression goes blank.
“Well... hunters have come through the portal, just killing to kill. We’re not the... luckiest bunch, when it comes to hunters.”

 

"I do not know what you expect me to do with such information." Gaia says plainly.

 

“O... oh.”

 

"Yes."

 

“That isn’t up to me, though I would appreciate it should you share it with your friends. Part of the mess was the uncertainty of how to handle Ihra, no?”

After a few minutes, you notice a small flame dancing between the trees on the ground. As it gets closer, it’s clearly Anne.
The rain seems to have stopped just in time for her arrival, though.

“I didn’t have a daughter on my own.”
Puddles seems to be doing her best to ignore the conversation.
