    My Thunder/Air Hero Build!

There's been two Mythics I've wanted for a very long time, and those are Discoverer and Hero. I was gifted with a Hero on a loot run yesterday. I thought was really funny seeing as how I had spent about 15 minutes previously, before the run, looking at market prices and wondering if I should buy one or not. Here is what I came out with, and I'm quite happy.

So now for the build. I look at hero and it screams melee to me, but when I see other builds, they're usually more spell oriented. I personally don't like a play style of only hitting things, unless there's some fun involved. Like insane Poison or Life Steal, or some other gimmick. There is one exception to this, however, and that would be a hybrid build. Inferno is usually the item known to do this well, but I was determined that I could do the same with Hero.

    The Build!

Here is the build, and I'll go over the items and my choices, but I want to explain how I would use the build and what it provides first.
(Click me to see the Build!)

So what was my goal while creating this? My goal was to create a melee oriented build that could dish out insane amounts of damage, while having the ability to support me with high damage spells if I need some time. I think it's safe to say that I've accomplished that pretty well.

    Pros and Cons!

I'll talk about the upsides first:

The biggest one being the amount of damage I'm able to put out. 11,500 melee dps is insane, especially for a weapon like Hero. This is certainly no slow killer build, like Apocalypse, but a quick blade that unleashes hell upon it's foe in just seconds. The 21,600 damage uppercuts are very strong, and can give you a window of time, without ruining your damage output.

Another upside is that you have a pretty good base Health. Even with Leictreach Makani, being able to provide 11,600 health is good. Pairing that with Warrior's natural defenses and Warscream can provide a good amount of defense for the times when you're unable to dodge an attack.

    Now for the downsides:

The biggest being the water defense. This can provide a problem in certain situations, but it is also worth noting that while you are weak to Water Damage, water is also generally weaker to you and your Thunder Damage. So it's a trade off in a sense, although it may not go in your favor. You may be able to fix a little bit with Powders, however, to make it less impactful.

Another downside is that this build involves two different Mythic items, which can be hard for some players to get ahold of. Without the use of any Legendaries, I think it's an okay trade off. It's also worth noting that neither Hero or Slayer are too expensive to buy, so it's not insanely difficult to obtain these items.

This build is extremely tight with skill points, so I'm most likely going to change something in order to give me some extra Dexterity.

    How the Build Functions!

The goal is to focus on melee damage, but taking advantage of spell opportunities. Your walk speed helps when getting to point A to point B quickly, but if there's a mob too far away to reach with melee, that uppercut may be able to reach. This will fling the mob into the air and give you a second or two to make your way to where it will land, so you can proceed to melee your enemy. With the amount of Mana Regen, you can use your spells pretty frequently, even with no Intelligence.

    Items and Reasoning Behind Them!

This entire build was actually based around Slayer, as it's the first item I tried matching with Hero. I will be honest, not much thinking was done about the boots. I took the opportunity of massive Air Damage, Walk Speed, and Melee Damage. Orienting towards a Thunder/Air build, I can make use of that Thudner Damage as well.

Leictreach Makani was an obvious pick for this direction, especially with the Spell Damage, providing the boost for a possible hybrid build. The 0 Health was a little frightening at first, especially for a build that takes advantage of melee, but the damage output was just too strong to not use. Nothing else compared to Leictreach in this regard.

The Helmet took me a very long time to decide on. There wasn't really any solid options for hybrid builds. Most Hero builds take advantage of Unravel, but with the -35% Melee Damage, I couldn't do that and have the same results. Brainwash stood out to me, because of its ability to provide lots of Spell Damage and Strength, as well as Thunder Damage. Not using intelligence was perfectly fine with me, as the Mana Regen and Mana Steal helped cover that hole a little bit, allowing me to easily take advantage of the spells I have to use.

The last identified item in my build is Achromatic Gloom. I saw this for the first time the other day, and I fell in love with it. It's the best necklace, by far, for any hybrid build, in my opinion. Providing a very strong amount of both Melee Damage and Spell Damage.

    Crafted Items:

For this build, I use a crafted Chestplate, two Rings, and a Bracelet. Let's talk about them and the ingredients used.

For the Chestplate, I used 1x Mega Fern, 3x Mangled Soul, and 2x Borange Fluff. The end result of this Chestplate provides me with a lot of extra health to make up for the loss from Leictreach Makani. This also provides a great amount of raw Melee and Spell Damage, and some Thunder Damage for extra dps.

The Bracelet and the rings are for the most part the same. One Ring and the Bracelet use 2x Nose Ring, 3x Piercing Talons, and 1x Sharpened Claw. The other Ring uses the exact same, although switching out the Sharpened Claw for an Ivory Tusk, to provide Health Regen, covering the negative that I otherwise would have. These items all add a significant amount of Damage to the build, at the cost of a little Walk Speed. I think this is a very fair trade off, as the goal of this build isn't to be focused on Walk Speed.

So there you have it. Powder it as you see fit, but this is the best I could come up with in just an hour or two. This is also the first real build I've ever made, so I'm pretty impressed with myself, nonetheless. Thank you for reading, and I hope you enjoyed :)

I'm not exactly sure what you mean?.. Sorry. The wynndata link has the max IDs of the crafted items. I'm not exactly sure how to add in stat ranges for custom items though. Do you mean, me listing the stats for each ingredient?

Is worth noting that there's no intel, so you can't really spam the spells, but they can be quite useful in the right situations

Yeah, I really can't wait to start messing around with it once I level up my warrior and get ahold of what I need to craft the items :)

lool, There's probably still better Mythic builds. Also I'm going to have to take away some of that melee damage so my skill point req. isn't extremely tight rip

Yeah, the only spell that you can really spam is Bash, and it's not insanely strong always. Still fun either way though :)

Is there any boots that could sub for Slayer without totally screwing it up? am poor.
Shaggy boots seem like the closest thing from the searching I did.

That or Ventus Tail would work alright. Unfortunately Brainwash rules out Steamjet Walkers.

I'm a bit hesitant to actually go through with making the build. On paper, it looks fantastic compared to any Hero builds that I've seen in the past, especially Hybrid builds. The only problem is that it's defenses are pretty lackluster for a Melee build, which someone pointed out to me, and they're not incorrect either. I have a bit of tinkering to do with it. Hopefully I can make it something that I feel more comfortable with, before crafting it all. My goal is to make a build that can solo things like L.I., because I've never had that opportunity before
