Now, I'm gonna say it right now before it is too late. I am NOT ranting about the lag. I know the developers have put a lot of work towards reducing the lag and improving the server, and I can't ask for more (as I wasn't been able to support them), so I'm asking for advice on the client side.

So recently I got back to Wynncraft. Big update, getting all productive, and I like it. Decided to start a new character and have been playing for about a week or 2. I took a quest which asked me to go to Llevigar, and so I wanted to explore a little bit before leaving.

While in Llevigar, inside the city, I am all lag free, but as you can see in the video, things started to happen when I leave.

    Here's a list of observation:
    1. The lag started to happen after crossing a certain region
    2. The latency is about 10-60 seconds
    3. If I stand still, I can catch up with the server, but the lag starts happening after I start moving
    4. This only happens in Gavel (as far as I know since I can't leave that area), everything is fine in Wynn
    5. The most noticeable lag is attacking. In the video, you can see I'm not attacking, but the cooldown keeps refreshing
It is a bit weird so I tested out different Minecraft version. I tried with and without mods, version 1.12.2 to 1.13, also checked the output log to see if I'm getting any errors and found nothing. I did some searching online and only found people ranting about the lag, so not very helpful I must say.

Anyone has encountered this weird issue as well? If yes, how did you fix/evaluate the lag? Thanks.

Additional Information (dunno if it may help):
    Operating System: Windows 10
    JRE version: 1.8.0_201
    Version: 1.12.2 (main version)
    Mod used: Optifine
    Ram: 16GB (allocated 4GB)
    Ping: ~200ms

Vanilla? Also does your Task Manager menu have some weird spikes right after lagging?

I did use Forge for Optifine so not Vanilla, but I use Vanilla 1.13.2 for testing
I checked the task manager, and here are the results:

    Standing Still:
The ethernet menu is having some weird saw-like pattern. It drops when everything is caught up

    Moving
The usage sudden rise while moving, but when I stop, it drops

    Edit:
I killed my player and got back to the city. This is the result:

I had the same issue, and at first I thought it was the Star Thief quest (https://forums.wynncraft.com/threads/intense-weather-in-star-thief-seems-to-kill-my-internet.242965/), but then it seems to be happening to me in certain regions of Olux as well, though at a less extent (2.2 Mbps staying still).

Still have no clue how to fix this. It may be some sort of hidden clock running or something. I have none of these issues in Wynn but only in the starting regions of Gavel.

Good to know I'm not the only one having this issue.

I've done some more research, mostly on lowering the ping by changing settings of Windows 10, but the problem still persist.

    Any advice is welcomed.

I am gonna quote what someone said on that bug report thread.
As such, I think the only fix available as of now is to get a good internet connection with high download speed. My internet speed caps at 3.3 Mbps so I can't really do anything about it. This seems to be a performance issue by the server at that specific spot where something is going wrong which are sending way too many packets than normal. Neither good for the server nor for the average player with bad internet connection.

By the way, I recommend cropping out some parts of your task manager screenshots as they contain your IP Address. Just the graph should hopefully provide sufficient information.

So I did some more research, again, by willingly sacrifice my soul points, and I managed to find this:

I have gone to the chunk where @PikaLegend is also having weird lag, and as you can see, root.tick.levelRenderer is using up a lot more resources in that specific chunk than other chunks. You can clearly see that even when I'm traveling inside other chunks, levelRenderer only have a few usage spikes, but in that specific chunk, the usage is clearly higher than normal

    Edit:
Aww compression makes it hard to read

I think I found the culprit of the problem. It is somewhat related to the internet, but it also isn't.

Just now, I have tested the chunk with my laptop, which is using Wi-Fi. I can walk and attack inside that chunk without any lag. I check the receive speed and this is my result:
As you can see, I'm getting a speed of 5.7Mbps. Compared to my ~2.4Mbps with ethernet, there seems to be some sort of limiter restricting the receive speed, and it makes things even more complicated when I can get up to 400Mbps (given that the server is close to where I live).

I suspect it might be a problem with ethernet, so I once again use my laptop to test:
And the speed is x2 of 2.4Mbps.

So now there are only 2 possibilities (that I can think of):
    1. Some driver settings of my pc are limiting the receive speed
    2. Minecraft is limiting the speed
I don't think the game is the problem, as I have reinstalled it and still no improvement. I will take a look at my driver.

I found it! I figured out how to solve the problem!

    Step 1:
    Open Command Prompt as Admin
    upload_2019-2-1_2-19-35.png

    Step 2:
Type this command and press enter.
    Code:
    netsh interface tcp show global
You should now see something like this:
    upload_2019-2-1_2-31-11.png
As you can see, Receive Window Auto-Tuning Level is disabled.
    upload_2019-2-1_2-25-28.png

    Step 3:
Now type this command and press enter.
    Code:
netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal
Done! It should work immediately! At least it works flawlessly for me!

I've ran into the exact same problem of this area. Not sure what this fix does but I tried the steps exactly and the lagging problem seems to still happen for me =/
