Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"The surprise is the best opportunity it can give us."

"I'm Puddles!"
"You're still my tail." The chimera sighs.
"I'm still Puddles."

 

The knight runs forward into the battle, the rest of the group following. Praecantatia, noticing, throws her shield at Lux. It morphs and expands around him, trapping him only momentarily before it expands outward. The shield forms a sphere, which envelops the group and leaves Praecantatia outside to maintain it. Lux turns his attention to Ihra and co., before seemingly disappearing.

 

Ihra taps her staff against the ground, spreading true sight to her allies.
"And so the beast rears his ugly head..." She growls.
"This surprise can strike once, but it'll tax me heavily. Either you're gonna get a massive surge of power, or Lux takes a massive hit. Your call, I can't do both." She tells the shadow royals telepathically.

 

“What’s in there?”
Crystal tries to peek into the shack.

 

"Rough maps of landmarks and the other things here able to talk. I've seen two others, but Landslide said she's seen four more."

 

"Landslide?"

 

"Got her tail crushed in a landslide, and the name's stuck with the boulder."

 

"Who is she?"

 

"She didn't have a name before Landslide."

 

"...What? But who is she?"

 

"That's fair. But still."

 

“I don’t know what answer you’re expecting, I told you who she is.”

“Just go kill time until sunset, this isn’t the first time this has happened.” Arga sighs.

 

"Got it." I say.

All Ihra hears is static from Shadow Stephanie, as she seems to be clutching her head in pain.

Lux appears behind the party, before disappearing into the ground. A massive fist throws Ihra airborne, before Lux appears and slams her down into the ground again. A giant sword appears and is thrown downwards to cleave Ihra in half before the knight takes the hit instead. A telepathic power throws Ihra out of the way as the knight holds up a large shield, clearly struggling under the weight of the sword before it falls over and disappears.

Lux appears in front of Shadow Stephanie, giving her little time to react before she's blasted with a barrage of light. Shadow Stephanie screams as her form begins to disintergrate, Artemis quickly trying to create a wooden shield; though failing as it's just burnt through. I sprint behind Lux and attempt to stab him in the shin, though he simply stops for a moment to kick me into the wall of the shielded area. Horns sprout from Shadow Stephanie's head, sharp wings from her back, and a tail from the base of her spine. Her hands seem to turn into claws as she lets out a demonic, chilling roar, a portal opening behind her as hundreds of denizens of hell pour out of it and go after Lux. Lux seems rather caught off guard, allowing Ihra, Artemis and the knight to make a strike while he's dealing with the demons.

 

"Yeah. If you need me, I'll either be near the church or in the swamp."

 

"Uh... Okay."
Crystal looks to Linoa.

 

“...Now.”
Ihra slams her staff against the ground, Tenebrae forming behind Lux as Ihra tries to prepare a null-light bolt to hit Lux with.

“Did you mean to ask what she is?” Linoa suggests, seeming confused.

“I’ve got my ways. Again, stay safe.”

 

"See you later."

I'll head for the church and wave her goodbye.

 

Lux turns around, before looking rather confused.

"What are you doing here?" Lux asks, fighting off the demons at light-speed.

The knight runs up and jumps high, burying their sword into Lux's leg. Artemis runs over to me, helping me up and surrounding me with loose armour-like vines.

 

Ihra stops channeling the null-bolt to take the opportunity to speed up the rest of the group and their perception even more.

“Now doesn’t seem to be the best time to explain.” Tenebrae replies, seeming to prepare a fair portion of her strength as her eyes fixate on Shadow Stephanie. “Do you want my help or not?”

Arga waves back, closing the door to her shop as you head off.

Why are we going back to the church? We could just poke around in the forest, or get some cake.

 

Lux's eyes seem to dart to the side, before he places a hand on Tenebrae's shoulder. He suddenly unleashes a massive amount of light energy into her, ripping through her form.

"Liar." Lux says coldly, temporarily redirecting some of Tenebrae's energy and hitting Ihra with twilight.

Shadow Stephanie roars again, grabbing at her head in what looks like pain. The light starts climbing up Lux, their armour protecting against the increase in light energy.
