Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

“I didn’t know you had your own way in here.”


“If you get damaged as a statue, then you’ll be missing whatever broke off when you’re unpetrified. I don’t think your family would appreciate it if I petrified you.”

 

"I've been places." I say, winking.


"Can't you just put it back on?" The young girl asks, confused; not grasping the concept of petrification fully.

 

“No. Once it’s broken off, you won’t have it anymore. See, if you lose a hand when you’re a statue, you’ll just have a stub when you turn back to normal... if you turn back to normal.”

 

"So I'll just put the hand back on!" The young forest guardian says happily.

 

“That’s... not how it works. Once it breaks off, it can’t be unpetrified.”

 

"So put it back on when I'm petrified!" The young guardian says positively.

 

"Yeah.. I know someone who can, but they need a specific item for it."

"You don't know anyone who could detect it without any requirements, do you?"

 

“...You can’t.”

“The naga may actually be a help to you there. They should be able to contact the siren, and they know a thing or two about attraction magic.”

 

I step up to the altar, a portal opening into a bright field.

"You coming?" I ask, turning back to Ihra.


The young forest guardian looks befuddled.

 

"A siren. Okay, good to know."

 

Ihra nods, following.


“...Don’t worry about it. If you don’t mind, could I meet your family?”

“They’re sort of like underwater naga.”

 

Ihra ends up in a familiar area, easily able to spot where Artemis was before I can see her.


"Well...mum always told me not to bring strangers back to where we live." The young forest guardian says, seeming a little sad.

 

Ihra checks to see if she’s training or just idling.


“You could tell them that there’s someone new in the forest.” Fenira suggests.

 

"No, I heard of sirens before. Mostly in stories. I know what they are."

 

Judging by the movements of Artemis' now-located soul, Artemis seems to be doing some extreme training.


The young forest guardian gasps.

"That's a great idea!" She says, before running off.

 

Crystal leads the way to the shack.

 

"So do sailors." Arga snickers.

"Hey. That thing's gone." Linoa says, seeming a bit confused as she looks at the branch the cat was on.

"Guess we get to wait." Ihra mumbles.


Fenira sighs, expecting an arrow to pierce her neck as she facepalms.

 

"I'll keep it in mind when I go to the swamp tonight. If things go well, of course."

 

"Hm?" I ask, still looking around.


No arrows end up piercing her neck. The young forest guardian returns, leading a pair of adults with her; hand in what seems to be her mothers.

"Here she is!" The young forest guardian says happily.

 

Crystal shifts one eye to look at where the cat was.
“Huh. Well, look around, maybe we’ll find him again!”
