Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"On that note, do you know if Mortius was okay after Atavul?"


She sits next to the stump, looking up slightly before looking down again with a sigh.

"The problem with that is, that usually involves hurting yourself. It goes without saying that you shouldn't really do that."

 

"Yeah. There would have to be some sort of scenario where she would be in danger. Live or death wise."

 

"Probably. He's death himself, I don't think he can really be killed. More so just...sent back to hell for a bit." I say, shrugging.


"Hey!" A young forest guardian says, attempting to swing her head into view of Fenira before topping over forward and falling onto her back.

 

"So he's sort of like your reality's Atavul, but not a crazed warmonger. Neat."


Fenira seems startled, looking towards the guardian but not at them.
"Hello?"

"I meant you. I don't know why she'd use a love spell on herself."

 

"Pretty much." I shrug, glancing at the Shadow blocking the path. They seem rather displeased with the lack of recognition.


The guardian rolls over and gets up, waving happily.

"Watcha doing here?" The young forest guardian asks.

 

"No, I meant that if she would be in great danger, it would mean that I would have to sacrifice myself in order to save her, if I truly loved her right?"

 

Ihra turns to the Earth Guardian.
"I sort of expected you to jump into the conversation. You know, like you did the path?"


"Lady Gaia gave me a second chance at living a life, even though I'm not even from here. I'm the last of my kind, so I'm trying to make it count."

"Oh, that. Yeah, that'd be hard proof, but if you're even willing to get hurt for her then it's a good sign it's true love."

 

"Oh wait.. it could work the other way around."

"She's pretty strong, right? And if she truly loved me, she would save me if I was in great danger right? So if we somehow are able to put me in danger, it could help prove it."

 

"That would work too, but again, I don't suggest you bring harm to yourself. Certain spells can detect traces of a love potion or spell, it's much safer to find someone who knows how to use one of those."

 

I snort.

The Shadow Guardian says something in a different language to Ihra, looking annoyed, before turning to me and saying more. I respond in a similar language, looking confused and surprised, before walking over. The Shadow Guardian's expression changes to a friendlier one as I do so. The pair of us embrace in a rather tough hug, both seeming happy to see each other. I seem to explain a few things, gesturing to Ihra, as well as with my hands quite a bit.


"You met Lady Gaia?" The young forest guardian asks, eyes widening, "What's she like?"

 

"...Should I have studied shadow tongue before Emerald disappeared?" Ihra asks, a bit confused.


"She's really nice and super forgiving, willing to give me a second chance even though I've done terrible things in the past." Fenira admits.

 

I shrug, before saying a few parting words. The Shadow Guardian moves out of the way, smiling.

"That was just an old friend. We go back a ways, I didn't know he made it here." I say.


"Woooooow, is she really pretty like everyone says she is?" The young forest guardian asks.

 

"I'm mildly curious to what insults were thrown at me, but I suppose that can wait longer than Lux."


Fenira nods.
"I can't look right at anyone, but she is."

 

"None, he just wanted to know what was happening and I gave him a rundown." I say.


"Do you have eye problems?" The young forest guardian asks.

 

"Awfully gruff about it. Friend from the war?"


"No, I am a stonegazer. Anyone I look at turns to stone. I was banished from my old home for petrifying a god... I don't ever want to do that to anyone again."

 

I nod.

"Died in it. Good man." I explain.


"Woah, can you do it on me?" The young forest guardian asks, "The earth guardians do that all the time!"

 

Ihra nods, quiet.


"Yes, I can do it on anyone... but I don't think you really want me to do that."

 

I don't say much until Ihra and I arrive at an altar near one end of the forest, light shining on it.


"Why?" The young forest guardian asks.

 

“Another garden?”


“You’ll be a statue, you won’t even know if you’re moved. It’s sort of like reversible death.”

 

"You wanted Artemis, right?" I ask.


"Coooooool!" The forest guardian says, excited.
