Why Was 1.18 Released So Soon?

Perhaps I should elaborate. The release ov the 1.18 update took me by surprise, as I'm sure it did for a good few people. I was enjoying it at first, despite the tutorial grind for all my classes. Detlas looks nice, and so does the rest ov the map. But there is something beneath this facade ov glorious new content... Two beasts called optimization issues and lack ov bugfixing.
As the update was unexpected by me, I had not finished all pre-1.18 quests on one ov my classes. I decided to carry on, riding my little wizard's horse through the wonders of Gavel, but I have already discovered two quests that were broken by this update. And I think we've all discovered the constant TPS lag spikes.
Do not worry, one ov the broken quests was fixed. Yet the second one I only discovered today; I've written a report ov course, but that is what has spurred this grievance ov mine.
While attempting to complete a broken Royal Trials, I heard the laments ov many fellow players in a discord voice chat, mourning the unfinishable boss ov Corrupted Sand-Swept Tomb. That is when it occurred to me... even the new content is fruitless under this flawed system.
I do not have a HERO rank, which is why I ask... What exactly was done to prevent these problems in the beta? Why was this update released now, with such glaring problems? Even if you make the argument that quest glitches can be difficult to notice, that's not the only problem here.

I really would like a genuine answer to these questions. Right now, my only logical explanation for these problems is that someone knew ov them but could not fix them. I hope that is not the case.

    Sincerely,
Antithesis Ender II, Lord ov Flies

The difference between the relatively miniscule players on the beta, and the thousands playing on live cause a lot more issues than you'd expect
Things that break due to TPS on live would have been unaffected on the beta
100's of different ways of doing things are found on live, that were never done on beta, or they couldn't reproduce what went wrong

Beta is to catch the majority of the game breaking bugs (duping and the like) anything else might not be found until on live servers

There is one simple reason for this - player count.
While the HERO beta helped find and fix a lot of bugs, there simply aren’t enough people with the HERO rank who can find all the bugs and optimization errors.

Basically, with over 1,500 players on the server at all times, way more people will have bugs and lag and stuff, simply because with more people its more likely one or more will exprience bugs. The HERO beta simply didn’t have enough prople for them to run into all possible glitches.

Sometimes there's just bugs that they straight up don't know of until they release the update. Even with the people in Hero Beta, there's no way you could possibly expect to find literally every single problem. This is why patches exist, as in fixing any problems that were unknown of until said update went live.

    a couple reasons
-the wait between 1.17 and 1.18 was the longest gap between updates ever already
-the playerbase was dwindling and a new update helps remedy that
-most of the people on the hero beta are going to try the new stuff, so old stuff that's broken by the update is overlooked
-heroes make up a small portion of the playerbase, and won't find bugs as often as the entire server would

The surging playerbase can certain cause these massive issues, but the issue of optimization is still present. I agree that more players being present than expected can cause some unintended issues, but with such glaring issues, it just seems like the update was designed FOR a small crowd, rather than anticipating a large one.
Also, lag/quest issues aren't the only thing that really seems unfinished. The market/exchange system is interesting, but there is no way that i can tell what it actually does, and just overall seemingly unfinished and primitive. I wanted this update to come out soon, but I'm not against having a little more time in the oven just to fix these issues.

It's a bit more complex than that. Sure, some issues were also in the beta and we missed those. But there's also a lot of things that can happen because of other reasons that we can't easily predict. For example, releasing the update brought a lot of players, which really overwhelmed our servers. We had to purchase a bunch of new dedis, lower the player cap and render distance to make sure the game was playable. By changing render distance, it affected redstone which suddenly messed some content that worked fine on beta. For lag, on beta it was quite playable but there's one major difference (other than having way less players): on the main servers, peeps login and logout constantly non-stop. If you see us at 2k players, it's actually many thousands coming in and out constantly. Having players login is quite resource intensive compared to other things. It's not something easy to fix without actually releasing, and we don't have the manpower that big game companies do to test on such a huge scale.

I get that it's frustrating to have broken quests/dungeons, but I assure you this update is one of the most tested out of all.

Alot of people didn't play the beta for two reasons
    1) They didn't want to spoil it.
    2) They wanted to play it with friends who didn't have Hero
    3) Everything on the beta was wiped.... So why waste your time on stuff thats ganna get wiped....
This left alot of bugs undiscovered.

But also yeah as mentioned above the strain of thousands of players playing causes alot of issues compared to the like max 4 people that played the beta at a single time.

I believe that the reason for all this lag and quests not working was imo most likely since this update was wanted by and large amount of people which leads me to believe that they rushed fixing and patching all the glitches so things won't work for a bit and then things will go back to normal
