Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

“Sort of, but she was a gorgon.”

She looks up, trying to see if there’s a pattern.

 

They appear to be mostly random, though some key platforms get hit more than others. Some rocks fall onto spikes too, breaking apart.

 

She waits a bit, checking if they're rhythmic or not as she prepares to make her run across.

 

"She had snake in her hairs, maybe she knows someone in the swamp?"

 

There's little rhythm to the rocks, appearing to fall at random times.

Ihra suddenly feels a sense of dread in her stomach, the spikes looking menacingly sharp.

 

Ihra looks down at the charm.
"I guess you've got something to do with this, huh? This mountain isn't gonna kill me; it's been trying, and everything it has is right here. It comes down to this; if you think it's not gonna work, I suggest you point me towards a different path." She grumbles.
"You hear that? You're not gonna stop me. You can't stop me. I'm Ihra!" She thinks, getting ready to run as her fear turns to determination.

"We could go back and ask her, I still remember where her shop is."

 

Ihra's mind flashes with images of her death, falling onto the spikes and slowly dying. It makes her knees weak, and her palms sweaty.

 

This just makes her smile and take a run at it, seeming motivated by the images as she puts everything and more into crossing the pit without falling in.
"I do the impossible, I've cheated death at the hands of a god, and I've saved more lives than you've taken." She thinks. "I will not falter, I will not let you win."

 

"Sure. We're here now anyway."

 

"I'll lead, if you want." Anne offers.

 

"I know it was somewhere near the bakery."

 

Ihra's confidence gets the better of her, a pile of rocks falling on her and knocking her off one of the platforms. She ends up falling on a spike, the rock piercing through her right shoulder as she slides down it. The pain is immense, Ihra's body slamming into the spike and narrowly missing any other spikes as she's stuck onto it by her shoulder.

 

She growls, barely mustering up the strength to rip her flesh off the spike s she grits her teeth and pulls herself up, barely conscious but her will to survive burning strong.
"Rrrgh... n-nice... try..." She grunts as she tries to get back onto platform.

"Do you remember where the bakery is compared to where we are?"

 

The platform wobbles unsteadily, threatening to impale her back. It tilts to the side, but holds, letting Ihra get back up. As she climbs up, she can almost feel the slivers of strength of a thousand fallen spirits pushing her to succeed.

 

She grits her teeth, pushing herself with everything she has left to finish crossing the pit as her mind focuses on getting past and little else.

 

Another pile of rocks crushes her, but she manages to stay on the platform this time; albeit beaten and bruised. Only a few platforms remain, but Ihra's wound isn't getting any better.

 

She lets out a roar as she keeps pushing, a glint of primal drive in her eye beneath the tears.

 

A platform crumbles beneath her, her foot getting impaled on a spike before she can leap off. Luckily, only two jumps remain.

 

Her body seems to go numb as she presses on anyways, albeit trying to push off with her non-impaled foot.
Despite her suppressed magic, her maw leaks a dim flame as she keeps trying to finish the crossing.

 

Ihra manages to cross, leaving behind a trail of blood. The path seems flat ahead, what looks like a more normal path compared to the challenges Ihra's faced.
