Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Rub the gem in an open area, and it will open a portal to a library more grand than you can imagine. It will seem like fantasy, but it is very real - those who study there have worlds worth of knowledge at their fingertips. With guardian culture and sign language being one of the recently added... albeit developing... studies, you should have little problem finding someone who would love to try to apply their newfound knowledge."


"No, I'll..." She cuts herself off with a yawn.
"...Sure."

 

"...Alright." The air guardian says, sounding a little nervous.


The guard leads Ihra inside, using the elevators to take her to one of the now familiar guest rooms. While there doesn't appear to be a window, there is a lamp in it's place, glowing with a soft light.

 

"Some guardians study there as well, though keep in mind any you find there likely have lived in the Realm of Shadow for a fair stretch of time." Iris says, getting up to leave. "Plus, if you need me to come back, crushing that will let me know that something's going on. Not gonna just abandon a battle, but I'd get back as soon as I reasonably could."


Ihra flops onto the bed, using a vine to turn off the light before drifting off.

 

The air guardian nods, understanding. A few other guardians glance over at the activity, curious.


Strangely, a young female Shadow seems to inhabit Ihra's dreams; present throughout. While she doesn't say anything and does little, Ihra feels as if the Shadow is familiar.

Ihra wakes undisturbed, though a package seems to be waiting next to her door.

 

Iris waves, tapping her staff twice on the floor before vanishing.


She opens it, curious.

 

Inside is a letter, accompanied by a small black box and what seems to be a robe of some kind.

The letter reads:
"Dear Miss Ihra,

You do not know me, but I know you. I'm not anyone significant like the King who you work with, but I'm a really big fan of yours. Your work has really inspired me, and I've heard tales of what you've done while adventuring with our royalty. I was amazed to hear you'd returned to the palace recently, so I thought I'd show my appreciation for what you do. I'm not very rich, so I couldn't get you anything amazing, but I thought you'd like what I did get for you.

All the best,
A fan of your work."

 

Ihra smiles, taking out the robe and laying it out on the bed, using a vine to turn on the lamp as she looks at what's in the box.

 

The robe seems to be fairly black and red, and just the right size for Ihra. A couple of pockets adorn the insides, and it looks thick enough to keep Ihra warm in the cold outside air. The box contains a necklace with a large mage crystal shaped like a teardrop. It seems to be charged with magic, though no spells are present.

 

Ihra peeks out in the hall.
"Hello?"

 

Ihra manages to catch the attention of a nearby guard, who comes to Ihra's call.

"Yes, Miss Ihra?" The guard asks.

 

"Do you know who sent me this gift?" She asks, gesturing to the necklace and robe.

 

"I'm sorry Miss Ihra, I do not. I can check to see which gifts were recently sent to you through our postage though, if you wish." The guard offers.

 

"I'd appreciate th- wait, is there more?" Ihra asks, confused.

 

"I'm not sure, Miss Ihra. I'm not part of that department." The guard says, shrugging.

 

"Oh, okay. Sorry about that. Regardless, yes I'd appreciate if you looked." She nods.

 

"Very well, I shall return to you once I've found out the sender of those gifts." The guard says with a smile, before heading down the hall toward an elevator.

 

Ihra heads back inside the room, closing the door before trying the robe on.

 

"No idea. Never heard of it."

"Maybe that's where the centaurs went after?"

 

The robe fits snugly, and feels light. It seems to make the room grow darker around Ihra, and Ihra blends into the darkness a little better with it on.

 

"Possibly. We could ask around, but... you know, wedding."

Ihra smiles, attempting to put on the necklace but instead muzzling herself with it at first before remembering how necklaces work.
