He just looks at you and pants.


“Impressive, though try not to make people expect decency from you.”

Iris approaches one of the guardians.
“Pardon me, do you know how many dragons are left here?”

 

"Uh, not as many as there was many years ago. Well, that's what I'm told. There aren't many dragons around anymore, seeing one is pretty rare." The air guardian says, lowering the light from his crystal as to not blind Iris.

 

December 2015... How long is this?

 

“Shame you just missed one, then.” Iris says, seeming a bit concerned. “If they’re that rare...”

"Wow, you're lucky to have seen one. I've only seen three my entire life." The air guardian says happily.

 

“I’m not used to them being scarce. Where I’m from, they’re almost a common sight. Well, that and I am one. They’ve probably regressed from using the common tongue if they’re that focused on survival here...”

 

"Where do you come from? Is there a place on earth they weren't hunted?" The air guardian asks, intrigued.

 

"No. I'm from another reality, actually. It's a horrible mess over there, though, so it's nice to take a step back from perpetual chaos and poke around in a much more isolated world." Iris shrugs.

 

The air guardian just looks at Iris like she's gone insane.

 

"I mean, there's two Gaia's here currently, so you're not the only one who thinks I'm off the deep end." Iris shrugs.

 

"How can there be two Gaias?" The air guardian asks, confused.

 

"Two realities." Iris sighs. "You know what, forget I said anything about that. You probably haven't noticed any of the refugees from up here, anyways."

 

"Well...stay safe and have a good night." The air guardian says, suddenly speeding past Iris and brightening his crystal again.

 

Iris waves once, laying down and looking at the night sky.

 

Stars twinkle along a rich galaxy, the moon seeming to step aside to let the cosmos show. A shooting star flits by, visible for barely even two seconds. The sky is so clear, Iris feels like she could float up into it and be among the stars.

 

Iris winds up drifting off.

 

Iris is undisturbed the entire night, though when she wakes up, someone seems to have left a blanket over her. Despite the winds, it seems almost immune to getting blown away.

 

“I... really need to stop letting my guard down here.” She mumbles, getting up and glancing around before she covers her eyes briefly.

 

There are far more air guardians about during the day rather than the night, though none seem to pay much attention to Iris. A couple of air guardians chat away idly, one of them in silver and gold armour, while the other just seems to be dressed in light clothing.

 

She seems to take notice of the armored guardian, occasionally glancing towards them before remembering yesterday’s events, looking for the building she saw the strong guardian in.
