Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

I'll head to the altar.
"Hm.. did you find anything yet?"

 

It seems to be some kind of humanoid, reacting as a normal being would to being felt over.

 

Iris lets the vines turn to dust.
“There’s someone in there.” She says, trying to get a glance at their soul.

The altar seems normal at first, but closer inspection shows that things were shuffled around a bit, maybe bumped.

Anne passes by you as she crosses the room.
“Nope.”

 

"How would they get in there? The gap is so small, and there's not enough space for one of us to reform from air in there." The air guardian asks, puzzled.

The soul seems to be more attuned to Gaia, seemingly a guardian's, and the sense of Earth seems to imply they're an earth guardian.

The first air guardian returns with the strong air guardian from before.

"Figured out what's wrong?" The strong air guardian asks.

 

“Part of it, at least. So... there’s a soul in there at the bottom of the hole, reformed into a tiny body. It’s at least mostly attuned to the earth element, but they’re not going to fit through the same hole they came in.”

 

"What- How did they manage to get in? And how are we going to get them out?" The strong air guardian asks, though mostly to himself. He paces about, confused.

 

“Working on that, but it’s... definitely alive. Didn’t like being covered in vines. Making a small portal might work, but it also could just rip them in two. Usually I’d just try to kill whatever’s in there, but that’s too risky for the crystal’s integrity.”

 

"A portal sounds best, if you can figure out where they are. That way the crystal will remain undamaged." The strong air guardian says.

 

I'm gonna take a look through the items that are scattered around.

 

“I might be able to restrain them with vines and then portal them out...”
Iris readies another few vine sinews.
“Sorry, friend, but if you’re not gonna hold still, I’ll need to do that for you.” She says towards the crystal as the vines try to restrain her once again, Iris using marginally more strength off the bat in order to counteract the drain.

Candles, a tipped over book, a leaf lazily bookmarking a page in that book, and a few bits of wax drops that have cooled off on the fabric covering the table.

 

The guardian struggles a bit, but eventually, Iris is able to keep them restrained.

 

I'll take a look at the marked page in the book.

 

She tries to open a portal just large enough to push them through, but not damage the crystal. Her staff crystal goes clear as she tries once again to counteract the drain off the bat.

It seems to be a bible, albeit with a bloody fingerprint in the bottom left corner.

“Hey, the offices are unlocked but emptied.”

 

The seed doesn't seem to drain Iris' portal magic, allowing her to force a young earth guardian through the portal, who shields their eyes from the sudden change in light. They appear to be rather weak, clearly not having eaten in a long while, yet they seem to have survived.

The strong air guardian steps forward, picking the earth guardian up by the collar of their shirt.

"What the hell were you doing in there? Do you know how much trouble you could've caused for us if you'd damaged our crystal any more than you already have!? How did you even get in there!?" The strong air guardian shouts.

The earth guardian squints, but doesn't respond.

"Well? What do you have to say for yourself!? Answer me this instant!" The strong air guardian shouts, annoyed, dropping the earth guardian.

The earth guardian stumbles over before picking themselves back up. They look around the air guardians and Iris, rather confused; yet they stay silent.

 

“They might not have had the choice.” Iris says, looking at the crystal’s mana flow again.

 

The crystal seems to be recovering slowly, now that the earth guardian isn't sapping it's magic anymore.

"Why were you in there, little one?" One of the air guardians asks kindly, kneeling down to be closer to the earth guardian's level.

The earth guardian looks at the air guardian for a bit, before smiling, seeming to like her.

"Why isn't this...this...pebble, saying anything!?" The strong air guardian says, impatient.

 

“They spent the last however long you’ve had your crystal problem stuck in the crystal, you’re more likely to get an answer once they’ve eaten and, you know, aren’t as close to death.”

 

The female air guardian offers the earth guardian a hug, who hesitates a moment before accepting it. The air guardian picks them up, before flying them back to the island. They cling on tight, seeming to be afraid of the great height. The other air guardian follows.

The strong air guardian sighs.

"I'll arrange your reward, thank you for your help. If you'd like, help with this child would be appreciated, but you don't need to if you don't want to." The strong air guardian says appreciatively.

The vines around Iris' arm loosen, no longer squeezing as hard, but still present.

 

"Sure. I'm not really doing anything else at the moment, plus I have no idea if getting them out was a short term fix or something more substantial." Iris shrugs.

 

"Well, at least they're no longer in there, and I doubt anything dangerous is getting through that gap." The strong air guardian says, spreading his wings in preparation to fly.
