Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

I'll take a second to see where the centaurs might be heading. I'm not sure how high I am, cause of the stairs, but probably not high.

After that I'll turn back around and walk inside the church.
"That was something. Wonder where they are going."

 

It seems to be mostly clouds, but the occasional air guardian pops up from them, flying along like angelic birds.

Adrian leads Iris to what seems to be a giant cloud. However, once Adrian leads Iris upward, she finds it to be a floating island hidden within the cloud; strong magical auras filling them. Adrian touches down in what seems to be a sizable village on the floating island, a waterfall and rivers running through it, as well as various air guardians and air guardian hybrids. Small farms grow healthy crops, basking in the easily available sunlight. Children seem to play about on the edges of the island, jumping off only to glide back up on an updraft. Windmills around the island seem to provide a magical power, through Iris senses a much larger one below, keeping the island afloat.

 

Iris lands a few paces away from Adrian, tail swaying a bit.
“Quaint.” She comments.

You didn’t make it onto the stairs, else you would’ve been shoved off.

“We could follow them, not like the church is gonna take off.”

 

"It has been, but I'll show you our problem." Adrian says, signalling Iris to follow her.

Adrian leads Iris to a large house with a boomerang symbol hung above it. A strong looking air guardian seems to be talking rather angrily to a pair of younger air guardians.

"-is whole island will fall! Now go back there and fix it!" The strong air guardian says, annoyed.

The air guardians hang their heads after nodding, before quickly heading toward the nearest edge of the island.

"Sir, I have some good news!" Adrian says as he runs over to the strong air guardian.

"Adrian? What is it lad?" The strong air guardian asks.

"I found a flying mage who might be able to help us with the island's problem. I'm sure she'd be able to use her magic to repair things." Adrian says happily.

 

“If I can’t, I know someone who can.” Iris shrugs.

 

"Well, we've got a bit of a problem on our hands," The strong air guardian explains to Iris, "As I'm sure you know, these islands have giant mage crystals beneath them that provide them the energy they need to stay in the air like this. However, our mage crystal has recently been losing power for no reason. We can't seem to find a source for it, other than a small crack in it's side. However, magic isn't a liquid, it wouldn't just leak out like that. It'd be damaged, yes, but it shouldn't be losing power as it is. Think you can fix it?"

 

“Ah...” Iris says, thinking.

“I know nothing about this place or what a mage crystal is, but direct repairs are my counterpart’s specialty. I can, however, work on tracking down the anomaly - takes one to know one, anyways.”

 

"The crystal's just below the island, you can't miss it. You'll be rewarded if you can fix this problem of ours." The strong air guardian says appreciatively.

 

"You want to? Might want to stay out of it, to be honest."

 

“I’ll see what I can do...” Iris nods. “...but no promises. Again, my counterpart’s the fixer.”

Anne hesitates.
“No, you’re right. It’s not our thing to deal with.”

 

Adrian starts to head towards the edge of the island to guide Iris, before the strong air guardian interrupts him.

"Hold on, Adrian. I need to chat to you about something." The strong air guardian says, before motioning for Adrian to follow him. The pair head inside the building, leaving Iris on her own.

 

Iris considers telepathically eavesdropping before going over the edge and gliding down beneath the island.

 

At the very bottom of the island, she can see a small suspended platform around a giant blue glowing crystal, the air guardians she saw earlier looking stumped as to how to fix it.

 

I'll head inside the church.

 

She glides down towards them.
“Hey.” She calls.

As you step inside, the room is candle-lit along with the natural light coming in from several stained glass murals. There’s an empty podium in front of a dozen rows of pews, but nobody else in sight.

 

The air guardians notice.

"Did you get sent down here too?" One of the air guardians asks, looking stressed.

 

“Yeah. Can you show me where the crack is?” She asks, staff crystal becoming a dark purple.

 

The other guardian shows her a crack in the crystal about a meter wide, barely taking up much space on it. The glow seems quite a bit dimmer around it, however.

 

Iris’ eyes start glowing red as she looks at where the mana is flowing.

 

The magic seems to be going into the core of the crystal, which seems to hold some kind of storage of it separate from the crystal itself.
