"What's Atavul's weakness?" Abigail asks.

 

“He’s reckless, which is also part of why he’s utterly terrifying. If he can do it, he’ll overdo it just to raise the stakes for everyone else. He’s the high god of fire, but you’ll need ice cold enough to slow time in order for him to even notice there’s water nearby.”

 

"Maybe we could ask Temporus for help..." Katie says, holding on to the air guardian for support.

 

“You do realize that such an act would only be minirly cataclysmic for your reality, no? The other gods need his help for brief visits to mine. Besides, the godslayer of time is active out there - sending him into their familiar territory would be worse.”

 

"How are we supposed to kill this fiery dick then!?" Abigail asks, annoyed.

 

“The same way I just pissed you off. Give him stuff to overkill that doesn’t mean anything to you. Let him burn himself out.”

 

"So just send in a bunch of sacrifices?" Abigail asks.

 

“That’s one way to go about it, yes. As long as you can afford to have him decimate it, it should work for burning him out. On the plus side, he reincarnated recently so he’s not in top form either.”

 

"I don't think we can take advantage of that. We'll need a lot of training to take him down, Xlentia was a lucky shot." Katie asks, sounding a little more serious than usual.

 

"And I'm here now. People won't mess with a transformed werewolf if they know what's good for them."

 

“There is one more thing that’s risky as hell but minimizes the risk of death... know how the Hive Master’s control breaks on beings near the brink of death? He has to send somebody to control Atavul every time he reincarnates. If you could interrupt that, you might not need to sacrifice anyone to him at all.”

“More reasons to love you.” She says, licking your cheek.

 

"Perhaps Aj or Shadow Stephanie could assassinate them, then." Katie suggests.

 

“It’d still be difficult - plus sending a lone shadow while Virei’tus is still controlled may as well be throwing them into a trash bin.”

 

"Maybe Stephanie's got some special cloaking devices or training while she's been with her mother this whole time," Abigail mutters, "Though I doubt she'd be let out of Praecantatia's reach before she's fully recovered."

 

“Why don’t you ask her about it, then?”

 

"I suppose it's worth a try." Abigail says, getting up and going inside; Katie and the air guardian moving out of her way.

A short while later, Abigail returns, chatting on her phone. She mentions handing over to Amber, before she offers Amber the phone.

 

Amber takes the phone, putting it up to her hear if that’s what she saw Abigail doing with it.

 

"Is this Amber I'm speaking to?" Praecantatia says through the line. Strangely, it doesn't seem to be using a phone connection, but rather a direct telepathic one.

 

I smile.

"Care to show where this accident happened?"

 

“And just how many would be on a large one?”
