Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Kiin nods.
“She said she’s been left alone for months on end, and I was willing to take the risk of getting shot at to keep her company.”
“She’s a really good cook, like mum!” Kiin says happily.
“I’m a master of fire, of course I can cook...” Rose mumbles quietly.

Rema nods, before pausing and opening the door to the guest room, Anne trying to hide behind the door.
“Well, she’s up.”
“Yeah... yeah, I am.”

“Not anymore, to some extent. You should be fairly flexible with your augments, from what I’ve heard.”

Buddy charges by behind you, tongue flopping around wildly as Soul and Lune chase him around more.

 

I chuckle at Buddy.
"I still only have half an idea of what's going on."

 

"Hey, honey. When did you get here?"

 

"Well...thank you. It's nice of you to keep Kiin company." Katie says happily, innocent demeanour returning.

 

"I, uh... woke up just a few minutes ago and heard you talking about me through the door." Anne admits.

"No problem. Frankly, I felt it was a selfish move at first. I didn't have any place to stay until Kiin dragged me in here." Rose says as Kiin steps back inside.

 

"How did you find our underwater palace?" Katie asks.

 

"Again, Kiin brought me here. I was walking off the shoreline to see what sort of sealife there is, and she popped up asking if I was looking for her."

 

"So, do you know Mortius?" Katie asks, smiling.

 

"Yes, he and Lady Tenebrae aided Xlentia in defending my Gaia's ruined temple from becoming another twisted breeding ground for my former master's troops." Rose says, seeming a bit uneasy at the thought. "I don't know how he fares, he insisted he would be fine after I healed Lady Tenebrae's burns."

 

"I don't think he can die, since he's already dead." Katie says happily.

 

"It's possible to kill a dead man, but I did not think he was in serious danger. Tenebrae's burns seemed much worse than what Mortius had left with."

 

"Who managed to hurt them?" Katie asks, curious.

 

"Atavul. High god of fire, rebirth, warfare; so powerful even compared to other gods, he doesn't bother employing any strategy beyond brute force. He focused on trying to batter down Mortius and knew Tenebrae would get hurt in the crossfire, though fortunately he backed down in the face of three gods against him. Things could have been much worse if he had continued his offensive."

 

"Why was he attacking them though? Is there a war between them?" Katie asks, worried.

 

"Oh yeah. It was mostly about marriage and then we went of track a bit."

"What did you hear?"

 

"Xlentia called for their help defending the ruins of Gaia's temple. Just about everyone was evacuated, but he would have left nothing in her domain."\

"Love potion and something about the fire. I sort of forgot the rest already."

 

"So that's what really happened..." Katie says to herself, thinking.

 

"Gaia's scholars are unparalleled when it comes to knowledge of life and evolution. A warmonger god learning to make his own abominations would be horrifying. It doesn't sit right for me that your gods were called over to fight our battles, but I think Xlentia asking for aid was the safer move."

 

"Things must be getting pretty serious if they need our gods." Katie says, scared.

 

"It's bad. I mean, with Gaia as weakened as she is now, the Hive Master pretty much has a three-to-two advantage."
